The Heartland Flyer was a cozy, 4-hour trip from Dallas to Oklahoma City that was problem free. The train does honk the horn a lot, so i'd recommend bringing headphones. I was able to get some sleep in though. I was worried if my powerchair would fit in the aisles and if I would have to transfer out of my chair, or if I would be required to be strapped down. I also worried about if the bathroom would be large enough to fit me. I can confirm that I was able to get through the aisles of the coach section fine, although there's not a ton of room to spare, and that my powerchair fit in the bathroom too; a tight fit, but it worked out okay. I was able to stay in my chair and was not forced to be strapped down. While I could fit in the coach car, the door to connect to the rest of the train and the cafe car was too narrow for my chair. There was a large space in front of the first row of seating for me to park my chair, with a convenient pull out table that made the ride feel nice. Staff were friendly and boarding was a breeze. Overall, i'm very pleased that the Amtrak is an accessible option for traveling the United States.

(Part of a Christmas package) We arrived about 45 mins before departure and got situated after conductor directed us where we needed to go. Lower level reservation is what we had. The chairs were comfy. Bathrooms clean! A couple of them were spacious as well. The space in the lower level car and the plugins were pretty awesome says my daughters. Took a visit to the cafe car when it opened up. Smiles from the staff. Thank you for being awesome On the return trip A Hicks - Train conductor made the girls day/night as we boarded the train some people were seated in lower with upper level seats. We got the logistics ironed out and away we are back to Oklahoma City. The ride was smooth and swift! **Only suggestions I have for Amtrak is better family friendly schedule for return trip. Leaving at 520pm was tough to plan out from the hotel standpoint...but we managed. Girls got a picture with the train driver!!! Mr Darryl did a fantastic job. We are already looking to book another train trip somewhere! Respectfully, Bryan and family Yukon, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City (OKC) is doing amazing things to attract tourists, and the OKC Streetcar is one of…read morethose amazing things. Providing clean, safe, easy to use, and inexpensive transportation that hits the highlights of the city is essential if you want tourists to see all that OKC offers. On a recent visit to OKC, I picked up a flyer that had a detailed map of the two streetcar lines. It also had a QR code that took me to a website where I could downloaded the OKC Streetcar app. The app is a great way to buy a ticket on your phone. However you can also buy one at the kiosks found at each platform stop. Tickets are $1 per ride, but you can also buy a $3 day pass or longer passes (monthly) if needed. There was no need to scan my ticket before mounting the streetcar. I simply had to press the "use ticket" button on the app on my phone. The main loop took me all over the city. It operates seven days a week and goes from early in the morning until late at night. The Bricktown loop only operates on the weekends. It's a shorter loop that hits the tourist center with the riverfront. Fortunately, the main loop that operates daily does the Bricktown loop too, so you can still get around and see it all. I was able to ride the streetcar from the botanical gardens to another area of town where I could get lunch. I also used it to see the OKC Museum of Art and to return to my hotel in an area of the city called Bricktown. I actually rode the streetcar the entire loop just to see the different areas of town. The streetcars come frequently, but you always have a nice sheltered bench to sit and wait. During the weekday, there were only two other people onboard with me. It was nice and cool inside. I appreciated being able to escape the sun and heat of the day and get off my feet for a short time. The streetcars are pristine inside and out. The route stops were clearly indicated on maps inside the streetcar as well as at the platform waiting area. Each streetcar announces the upcoming stop on a speaker and flashes it across an LCD panel near the driver. The driver is in a separate room at the front, but he was nice enough to answer my question before we continued on our way. Oklahoma City is a hidden gem in the heartland of America. It took two years for my husband to convince me it was worth the short drive north to visit the city. Improvements like investing in the new OKC streetcar are one of the many reasons I would recommend visiting OKC.
