When I moved to this area of the state, I knew it was going to be a little different - I often joke…read morethat I have to drive 25 minutes in any direction to find civilization. But I am proud to live quite close to this package store (aptly named, simply, "The Package Store", which would only cause confusion if you're not a CT native - otherwise, it tells you you're exactly where you want to be). The Package Store isn't nearly the size of any of the larger chain liquor stores, but I swear it's somehow bursting with just as much inventory. And it has all of the character that's missing from those stores. There's so much more to look at besides just alcohol - I don't know exactly how to describe it, but I guess the best way to say it is that the store definitely has its own vibe. Obviously selection is important in a package store as well. It's quite literally overflowing with wine, beer, and liquor, and I've never been disappointed in the variety. It's also surprisingly well-organized. You may not think so at first, but once you've spent some time in there, you know where to look for everything and it all makes sense. For hard-to-find beer enthusiasts like myself, there's a handy little whiteboard to the left of one of the doors as you walk in - it lists out all the high-demand beers they have, as well as the per-person limit - because it is a smaller store, the limit is anywhere from 1 to 4 cans/bottles of a given beer per person, but that's pretty typical for any of the rare beers at most package store these days. It IS nice to know that if something pops up on BeerMenus that morning, that there's a good chance it will still be there in the afternoon when I get out of work since one person can't go in and buy out the whole stock. Overall, I think this is a great hometown package store that's worth checking out if you're in the area. I have yet to be disappointed!

I don't know why Yelp has this as "Plaza Package", you can see from the picture that the sign over…read morethe door says "The Package Store". Also when you make a purchase the receipt says "The Package Store". This place is small but absolutely packed with variety, especially if you want beer! Making your own six pack out of the cooler is a great way to find your next favorite beer! They also have wine and liquors, take a close look at the shelves if you want to find something new and interesting.
