When speaking to the office/billing staff the overwhelming response was "that is not possible", or basically "we don't care about your situation". We even had the doctor inform the hospital that we should not have been charged but the hospital sent the bills to collections..... Not only is the actual medical care in the Netherlands sub-par; their billing practices and customer service are some of the worst in the world....

So make sure you have legal medical insurance with an insurance company before you go to a hospital here, something I was not aware of that you must have when encountering bad and unethical doctors here.

A hospital where, due to the negligence of MDL doctors, IBD nurses and rheumatism doctors, you do not get better, but unfortunately sicker and sicker. They neglected my serious symptoms. I AM NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY AT ALL. My argument focuses in particular on the gastroenterology and rheumatology departments. (Eye clinic in AMC is good: because of the short lines of communication between doctor and patient, ophthalmologists take patients seriously). What makes the MDL departments so worthless: - the IBD nurses who sit in the doctors' chair. Making wrong assessments that can be dangerous for the patient. -the miserably long lines between doctor and patient. -the worthless digital mijndossier: communication doesn't work at all -If you have VERY serious complaints, you will simply be sent home with painkillers. I didn't feel taken seriously at all, even though there was a ticking time bomb in my body. -the doctors did not collaborate with other doctors, only looked at their own field in a very autistic way, and then sent it back to the GP. I also expect a medical specialist to look at the patient as a whole/holistically. If necessary, refer to the internist for more rigorous examination or consult with each other. Simply negligent! -Referring to an internist But they left it to the GP, even though it was urgent and even dangerous. Once a referral was received from the GP, the AMC rejected the referral in question because it believed it contained too little information. HELLO! This is not a formal error in a lawsuit, case dismissed due to an error. This is a HUMAN LIFE! -I haven't seen my own IBD/MDL doctor in 5 years. Staff shortage or something? It sure seems like it! -rheumatology outpatient clinic: too many patients and too few staff -incompetent doctors who cannot act and assess when a situation is serious. This certainly applies to the rheumatology outpatient clinic. It is better to go to a smaller hospital, if all goes well specialists also work there (get paid more) and have more time for their clients. AMC: rheumatology outpatient clinics and MDL: worthless third world country hospital!

They have forms in English, btw. I felt really appreciated, safe and grateful throughout the whole process. The process is very different from the one I went through in the US. First you must call the 0800 number to be screened. If all goes well you make an appointment so they can take blood samples and further interview you to ensure you're eligible to donate. If all that goes well you get a letter telling you you can donate within 2 weeks. I think it took about 1.5 months from my initial call till I got my letter. Totally worth it to help save lives :)

This hospital has great staff, generally caring people who treat you with kindness and respect. They cannot serve your every need these days, nor should they have to. Capable and intelligent nursing staff is more important, and these days they advocate you get up as soon as possible after most types of service. As crazy as it sounds, people heal better the moment they get moving. To me that makes sense from the biological, early-human perspective. People who walk a lot enjoy good health. Then the routing system: how ideal! I don't know why other hospitals don't employ it. In the confirmation of your appointment you get a routing number, follow that numerically when you enter and - presto! - you are at the correct location for pediatrics, apothecary, radiology, etc. Supereasy and logical. Finally, I like the atrium interior and the shops. There is a shop with great presents for those who have to stay longer, a good (but expensive) food place, and an ice cream shop. Oops! Maybe you should control-delete that info (but it is artisan and yummy, and you didn't hear that from me). Lots of paid parking with the day ticket costing you 7 euros. I like it as far as hospitals go.

Brought my daughter…read morehere due to high bp & the fact that she's 40 weeks & 3 days pregnant, after her midwife sSo, all of the nurses were so kind & helpful. My daughter, of course, speaks Dutch. But, I am still learning. So, they were kind & helpful to me. My daughter ended up being the last pregnant mommy in the room. It took five hours due to her blood pressure problems. So, we had everything explained to us in Dutch & English, & brought her home for the night, & we will be back tomorrow to start the process to bring this stubborn baby out. She's comfy in Mama! The hospital is clean, bright & filled with kind & helpful employees. It's lovely to walk in, & the windows all over make it bright & happy. Honestly, the cleanest hospital I've ever been in to date. It has a doctors office feel, in an enormous setting. But, it's not cold & unfriendly. Makes me wish I was already back here living. My granddaughter was born on Friday, 16/11/18 @ 1353. She's perfect. The staff was amazing.
