When speaking to the office/billing staff the overwhelming response was "that is not possible", or basically "we don't care about your situation". We even had the doctor inform the hospital that we should not have been charged but the hospital sent the bills to collections..... Not only is the actual medical care in the Netherlands sub-par; their billing practices and customer service are some of the worst in the world....

The protocol requires the patient to be in-patient until clearly ready to go home. Recovery was excellent. Far lower cost to our insurance company. Surgeon trained in the US. Didn't want to practice there because the actual care is so far superior in The Netherlands.

They have forms in English, btw. I felt really appreciated, safe and grateful throughout the whole process. The process is very different from the one I went through in the US. First you must call the 0800 number to be screened. If all goes well you make an appointment so they can take blood samples and further interview you to ensure you're eligible to donate. If all that goes well you get a letter telling you you can donate within 2 weeks. I think it took about 1.5 months from my initial call till I got my letter. Totally worth it to help save lives :)

I guess it makes the wait more palatable although the wait wasn't all that bad. Talk to the lady behind the counter to begin. Give her all the require information and ID. I won't be able to give a fair review yet on this hospital until I have a few more meetings with…read morethem. So for now, I will just grade them in the middle. One of my doctors referred me to VU to with my issue because supposedly they are more experience in that area, compared to other hospitals. So we will see what steps they will take or if I will get the run around in a month here too. The doctor I encountered here spent an extensive time period with me in discussing my medical case, so hopefully after she reviews my medical records, I won't experience any nonsense, and then I can proceed to receiving some serious treatment asap. The infrastructure of the hospital reminds me somewhat of UCLA, which appears to be a plus on the surface. I really hate that I did not get surgery here or at St. Lucas, because then I would not be in this predicament. Well I am praying that I can get some real results done here, because chronic pain is not a pleasant situation to be in. If you intend on getting surgery or any serious diagnosis, then I would by past half of the hospitals in Amsterdam, and stop in here first. So you can walk in and come out safe.
