Great compan. Fast response even through home warranty. I got a good quote for a new system and got it replaced the same week.

My home warranty company sent someone from AMP to check our AC problem (no cooling in one duct line serving the master bedroom and two bathrooms). The technician checked the refrigerant level (I knew it was okay because cooling is working in the rest of the house) and the ductwork under the home - said everything was fine and left. He didn't even go into the rooms that are getting WARM air instead of cool. read more

AMP Mechanical came out to Diagnose a mini split. The tech wasn't very familiar with Mini Splits but tried his best and thought it was the Thermal switch of the compressor that was not powering on and causing an error code, he said he would request the home warranty company that they allow him to swap out the switch to see if that solved the issue. Called his Boss and his boss told him it was caused by an inadequate line set that required 25 feet or more. Later on I get an estimate from the home warranty company telling me that the line set was incorrect and they needed to replace it and that wasn't covered by the warranty. The estimate was for $2400 just for the line set and refrigerant. This is double of what a new mini splits costs. I wasn't satisfied with the diagnosis so I asked the warranty company to send out someone else for a second opinion. The second company came out, did their diagnosis, called the manufacturer technical support line to confirm and see if the heat pump unit was still under warranty. Turns out that the heat pump was bad and needed to be replaced a new/complete outside unit without replacing the whole mini split was only $400 the same company and the inside air handler was still in great condition. Lines came pre charged and they were able to return later with the new heat pump unit and replace it at a fraction of what AMP sent a request estimate for. I get it, Mini splits are not easy to diagnose but their Diagnosis was completely made up, what they claim to be out of spec was easily verifiable on the installation manual or by calling the technical support line. This review is not a reflection of the tech who tried but more of the company as a whole for lack of honesty and trying to bill the home warranty company for more than what it ended up being. read more

They sold me a system for $10,000 and installed a lesser system than what he promised and what I agreed to. The salesman said the installers would check duct system and all parts of the system to make sure all was working properly. The installers were here for 2 hours and left and none of what was promised was done. Less than one year later, there is no freon. No cold air. So AMP did come, surprisingly, and determined they had a loose connection when they installed it. So they said they tightened that connection and put in new freon and did a pressure check. Now the very next year (less than 2 years from install) we still have no freon, must have leaked out again. It's a new unit, already!!! Why are we suffering? AMP won't return our phone calls. I'm about ready to take them to small claims court. First American Home Warranty FAHW only uses loser companies to deal with claims. I complained to FAHW and they didn't care because there's some hustling going on between FAHW and AMP Mechanical HVAC to cheat the customer. Please don't do business with either AMP Mechanical HVAC or FAHW. Almost 3 weeks now without air conditioning and no call back from AMP. read more

Terrible service. They were sent on a Wednesday by our home warranty company. the tech came out and verified the unit did not work. After not answering their phone for 5 days, they told the warranty company we had no issues even though the unit won't hold freon. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

3 weeks ago This company installed a full central heat and air unit for us. They did not change or flush the copper lines, and never mentioned that thwre were 2 different sizes of line sliced together causing uneven pressures on the high pressure line. The old and new systems used different freons. Two years later, they come out for repair. Said there was freon leak and put stop leaks in the system and overfilled the freon. It worked for 2 hours. They came back and said there was blockage in the line and they weren't responsible. They bled off some freon, into a partially full water bottle and into the air, not reclaiming it. After all this and no outgoing communication from them, I changed companies. Come to find out they also wired the thermostat and the AC up in single phase only. My unit was never working as a high efficiency 2 phase unit and putting extra strain on the unit. This company is HORRIBLE! I was forced to use them through my home warranty. They offered things just to get me to buy a brand new HVAC system from them. After the system was installed, I didn't get the smart thermostat that was promised by the technician. I tried several times to contact the company, but they wouldn't answer their phones, nor would they respond to my emails. I had to go through my home warranty company just to get them to respond to me. Amy, their receptionist said she would check with the technician and get back with me, but never did. I was also told by the technician that I would be getting thousands of dollars worth of tax credits for the system I bought from them (they charged me $10,500 for the system). That was a lie. The most I would be able to get back is $600. The tax form is requiring that I provide the Qualified Manufacturers' ID Number. Once again, Amy is ignoring my emails (I've sent several) requesting the information from them. They're refusing to help me. Outside of American Home Shield these people may be the most incompetent group of individuals I've ever encountered. They are absolutely utilizing warranty companies to collect 125$ in service fees which is laughable considering they don't even get the full amount but that's clearly their agenda. When confronted about the multiple failures of their technician they completely stopped communicating not only with me but with the warranty company as well. You know your technician dropped the ball twice, you know my house flooded because of it and now you're completely shirking your responsibility. Disappointed to say the least. I would never recommend your company and quite honestly will make efforts when the opportunity arises to announce your company should not be used at all costs. I will be reporting this situation to the state, the licensing body the bbb and the local health board. If zero stars was an option that's exactly what is deserved. Repair AC - under AHS warranty. Unit was freezing up and not working properly. They came to my house 4 times, first time the tech said there was no problem and refused to do anything as system was working as it should. Second visit - a week later - tech found low freon level and added 4.5 lbs (8-9 lbs is full). No effort to find the leak. Next visit - tech added 4 lbs of freon - again no effort to find leak. One week later compressor failed - which is not unexpected as the freon in the system cools it - and high temp from low freon will burn up bearings and windings. I called and asked for an urgent revisit, they managed to arrive at the end of their 7 hour window a mere 5 days later. Tech was there 15 minutes and told me what I already knew - compressor needed replacement which would take up to 2 weeks. Or they could replace entire system under their "upgrade option" for $7-8k the following day. I asked for all options to be sent to me asap. 5 days later I contacted them and they said they sent them - but I had nothing and AHS told me they had not heard from AMP. I got their $7500 replacement estimate a few minutes later, and an email from AHS saying a repair estimate was received. They don't fix the problem (Leak), they do the minimum and hope the customer will fall for their "upgrade program". When I called asking for urgent service after 3rd visit I explained that it was 85 degrees in our home, my wife is recovering from cancer treatment, and we really need help right away. They lady told me my bad day was not going to ruin hers, and that everyone they service has problems - elderly, pets, etc. and they could not get to us any sooner. She chose to raise her voice and talk down to me rather than offer help. I spoke to the owner, Linda, and she was more helpful and less condescending. Today, I'm waiting to hear from AHS in hopes they will pay me for they repairs their tech recommended. A new compressor - that will fail due to the leak they have been unwilling or unable to diagnose. I'd rather pay someone else to do it right than spend another week waiting on them to do a half assed repair. Then I will cancel my warranty and never have to deal with them again. read more

I had 3 separate employees come out from this company. The first one was the free a/c inspection where the tech stated my system was 2 lbs low. Per the contract they are supposed to top off the refrigerant if it's low, which they didn't do, and instead just recommended I buy a new system because mine is older. A month later my system froze up and I made a claim through the home warranty. A few days later, the same tech came out, stated I was still 2 lbs low, and that he's out of refrigerant, and it comes from out of country so it's 6-8 weeks out. He again said I just need to replace my whole system at a cost of around $10-12,000 when it was working fine other than the one day it froze up. I called the warranty company to complain, and they said they can't do anything until the company submits their report, which took them over 2 weeks. When the report finally came, it stated my claim was denied and the reason being my system is old and undersized for my home. Their replacement was the same size. I called management to complain, so they sent a different tech out a week later. This tech said my system is working as designed, and it's not low on refrigerant, nor are there any issues. AMP mechanical is the biggest scam company I've ever come into contact with, although the people at the warranty company aren't any better to deal with. I ended up just paying a reputable ac company out of pocket to come address the issue, realizing both the warranty company and the contractors they use are one huge scam. read more

American home shield sent them out to look at my old air condiitiner. The tech told me I was down 12 pounds of Freon that would cost 3,000.00. Then they told me I would have to replace my new (4 year old ) furnace at a cost of 10,000.00 because they couldn't find a unit compatible to my furnace. I called another heat and air company. My unit was not down 12 pounds of Freon only 3 pounds. They installed a new central air unit at a cost of 4200.00. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ATE SCAMMERS. These guys are scam artists. If not for American Home Shield sending them warranty work, they would have already gone out of business. They show up, spend 15 minutes at your house, say the problem is fixed and disappear to collect their service call fee from AHS. Let me give you some advice: AHS has about three HVAC contractors that they choose to do their work. If you are assigned AMP, simply call American Home Shield and tell them you want someone else. After AMP wasted my time with MULTIPLE service calls, they finally gave up. I got a new contractor from AHS and the problem was fixed correctly in 30 minutes. Read the reviews. Everyone is experiencing the same issues. Don't let them waste your time, or God forbid you choose them yourself without being forced by your warranty company. read more

Similar to many other unfortunate customers experience we had issues with out AC units and AMP Mechanical was called out because of our AHS warranty. My home warranty company sent AMP to do a pre-season check on 5/6. AMP said refrigerant was low, my share was $475.00. 22 days later the unit quit cooling. AMP was dispatched again on 6/2 and said needed a condenser. AMP installed on 6/11, but wasn't cooling. Sent another employee on 6/17 who replaced a fuse in the furnace. 7/26 unit quit cooling AGAIN. This time AHS sent other contractor who said the coil should have been replaced as it wasn't compatible with the condenser. AMP employees either just don't care, or are inexperienced. This company is a nightmare to work with. Unfortunately we HAD to go through them via American Home Shield. They were a joke to work with in regards to a downstairs furnace. We did not have heat for well over a month and when it " finally" was fixed with a motor we immediately had a ceiling leak in our garage do to an employee leaving a pipe ( valve) unscrewed. We know this was the cause via a second opinion from another company AHS immediately sent out. AMP said the reason it was leaking was from ANOTHER part issue. These employees are not trained very well and I blame the company. I now have damage and this company and along with AHS are saying it's not their fault. I totally understand it takes awhile for ordering parts but this was not the issue. It's the incompetence of the company and it's employees. read more

Technician replaced HVAC logic board in fall, which caused the AC to stop working. Found out in the summer. They could not schedule faster than two weeks out to fix a problem they created in 90+ weather. Technician finally came out, called 30 minutes ahead, and shows up 75 minutes after that. Called the office and they said he was caught up with the client, he shows up he says it was bad traffic, the first lie. Claims it's the freon, then claims it's the relay, leaves to go get parts. Get a call from the warranty company saying he won't come back because I was "aggressive". I was not agressive, I asked questions about what he was doing. Mike Sanchez was assigned to my property . American Home Shield uses this business sometimes. Mike said my gas furnace needed the damper replaced. He said he would come back in 30 to replace it. Mind you its below freezing outside. He never shows up. I call willing to pay and no answer at the company. I call back American Home Shield and they assign another company that fixes the furnace in 20 minutes. Says there is no such thing as a damper for a heating system and tells me that the guy didn't even open the furnace. Technician came out to my house for a Home Warranty call. The refrigerant line had corroded at the entry to the wall. He told me it had rubbed against the bricks and that they would fix it and left for parts. Then I got a call from the Home Warranty company saying he had reported it was not due to Normal Wear and Tear. My contract specifically states corrosion is covered along with rust, improper installation, etc. He lied so that he could get his service fee and move on. Like many others here, First American home warranty sent this company to my house to diagnose an air conditioner that stopped working. Mike came to my house about 5 days later, and told me the bad news - the compressor went out. He told me I would have two options - repair it or replace the unit. He said to repair the unit, they would need to order the part AND alter it since my 10 year-old unit isn't up to code any more. He said my warranty company would cover "$1600-$2000" of that cost, and mentioned that he is shooting low so he doesn't overpromise anything. He then said the alteration would be about $2800 out of pocket to me, and that it would be 4-6 weeks for the part to be ready. As it is mid July in Oklahoma, that was absolutely not an option. He then told me that they could replace the entire unit that day for $11,500 and I would have AC that night. I asked if my warranty would still cover the $1600-$2000 of that, and he said yes. They would cut me a check for that. I reluctantly agreed to have the unit replaced and they proceeded. At least I got AC that night. When the warranty company contacted me a few days later, they advised that their findings (from what Amp sent them) was that the compressor simply needed to be replaced and they would only pay $449 for that service. When pressed about everything Mike told me in my house, they said "we aren't the contractors and cannot be held responsible for what they told you." Nice. Without specifically stating it, this gentleman told me that I got screwed by a massive hard-sales pitch and it is my fault for believing it. Congratulations, Amp and Mike. You probably laughed and high fived each other as soon as you got back in your truck and talked about what a sap I am for buying your BS. Sleep well at night if this is how you do business. I'll sleep well with good air conditioning, minus $11,000. My advice for the next person that gets this company sent to their house is to not make ANY decisions without checking around and calling your warranty company while they are there. My review is consistent with multiple others posted over the last couple years who did not "choose" Amp Mechanical Heating & Air, but were "assigned" this contractor through a home warranty company. Do not expect to be able to contact AMP through their phone line or expect to have voicemails returned. First technician misdiagnosed the problem, second technician a week later lied and refused to leave the old part he replaced, third technician cussed me out in my living room for asking questions, then quickly followed it up with the caveat "you can't get me in trouble"; frankly that last statement was the most accurate communication I had with all company employees during the weeks I did business with them. Scheduling was a challenge. After days of no communication of when they would return to complete the repair, the office called at 7:15am stating a technician would be at my home in 15 minutes. If I couldn't make that appointment I would have to wait until the following week. read more

They showed up and stated my AC that had water running over the ground was "running fine" and they would redirect water from condensation. They used PC that was previously used and broken. The wind blew on it and it fell apart in multiple places. I now have water running over my floor again, out the cost, and a compete waste of time. A technician came out for an American Home Shield warranty call. He spent less than ten minutes on our property and said he replaced a part. Our A/C units (both the upstairs and downstairs units) continued not to cool the day of the AMP visit and never improved. I requested a second visit. A different technician came out, and rinsed the unit, stating he couldn't find an issue. The day the second technician was at our house, our thermostats were both set at 74. The actual downstairs temperature was 78, and upstairs was 84. I called back, and an aggressive woman told me, "The technician told me you'd call back, that you wouldn't be happy. We can't keep coming out to your house. The first technician even knew you wouldn't be happy. And then you leave us one-star reviews - that's the icing on the cake." She suggested my installation or windows were the problems, though, in previous years, my windows and insulation weren't an issue. I believe American Home Shield is a cash cow for AMP. In my experience, they make short service calls and report back, "No issue." The next business day, I got another HVAC company out to my home. The technician from the new company said, and I quote, "If AMP cleaned your unit, they did a lousy job." He called me out to see the gunk and filth that clothed the unit, a business day after AMP claimed to have serviced it. The second company (Not AMP) stayed on-site for hours, testing, working, and communicating with me, and they got the job done. read more

I live in Tulsa, OK. AMP was assigned to me a service call on my furnace to American Home Shield. I have no idea why American Home Shield continues to use this company after seeing all the negative reviews here. I have the same problems as mentioned by others here -- two different technicians on two different days who both misdiagnosed the problem. I am now over a week past my initial service call and still don't have heat. Today they have LIED and said the furnace is inadequate and needs to be reconfigured. They DON'T HAVE A CLUE as to what they are talking about, as this furnace operated fine last winter (2021) during the record-breaking cold temperatures outside. American Home Shield is now going to send out someone else for a second opinion. I would give zero stars if that was an option. STAY AWAY from this company! read more

Technician came to check out A/C unit. He was there no more than 10 minutes, sprayed WD40 in the unit and left. He was told by his office "move on" , the unit is making a grinding sound because of its age, nothing would be covered. That was a quick $85.00 they just earned. Is this their MO, collect their fees as quick as possible and run? This tech wasn't there long enough to even diagnose a problem! My tenant called AMP, an older man answered the phone, she said the tech was there to do warranty work, the old man said they didn't do warranty work and hung up. She called back and left a lengthy message which I'm sure prompted the man to call her back. She proceeded to tell him what happened, he had the nerve to tell her to SHUT UP! This company has definitely earned their reviews as the worst company I have ever dealt with. I see I'm not the only person having very similar problems. They work as a contractor for American Home Shield . I made my first claim with AHS and was assigned Amp Mech who called on a Friday to set up my appointment. I stated I had opened up my outdoor AC unit, knowing it had to be the condenser fan motor due to replacing my capacitor in the past and they said they would make sure they had the part when they came out which ended up being the next Monday. They show up (owner in a unmarked truck?) over an hour late after a 30 minute out initial text. He is there no more than 10 minutes, says it's the motor, but it looks like something hit the unit. I said no, that was me. I had opened it up to inspect it and didn't screw in the bolts tight and left some out knowing he was coming to fix it. He then calls an employee to order the fan motor from Trane and says the hold time on the phone is an hour and Amp will call me after that to schedule service. They never called, I finally called after day 3 and they say AHS hasn't approved the work. I call AHS and they say it was approved that same day Amp came out and they even sent another approval while speaking with me. So 5 days of back and forth with the contractor saying they never got approval of service and AHS saying they gave approval in the heat of the summer. So on the 5th day calling AHS again they say the contractor wrote not normal wear and tear, looks like something hit the unit. Which I told him what I did and told AHS the same thing. So basically this company lies and takes your $100 service fee when they don't want to do their job. No wonder they're not BBB certified. P.S AHS has a second opinion clause which resulted in a great company JKT Mechanical coming out replacing my fan motor, adding refrigerate, down 3lbs and a stop leak solution at no charge to me since it was all covered through AHS. read more

My home warranty company sent AMP to diagnose my AC issues. They were not very thorough and Their diagnosis of the issue seemed odd. I called a more reputable company to come diagnose the situation to see if my concern about their diagnosis was warranted. It turned out AMP had given incorrect information about almost every detail even the year my AC was made. I don't know if it was purposeful or if the technician is incompetent. Terrible company. Never fixed anything. Spend 10minutes and said I was low on coolant, added some coolant and left. In an hour at 11am the temperature continued to rise to 81 from 77. Plus the guy could barely keep his eyes open to have a conversation. To top it off I asked if a cut in the fins could cause it to be low on coolant because my husband noticed it awhile back and he looks and said no it's not the coils and it's not leaking, then as I got the report from American Home Shield he put down that it could be the cause and I purposely done it. I would give this company zero stars if I could... this company is a joke! our air went out and it took them a week to get out.. they said the compressor needed replacing and it would take 4-6 weeks, but if we used them directly, they could have a new unit installed by the next day... to have just the compressor installed, after the warranty paid thsir part, we would of still been out 2200 because AMP said they had to replace the copper tubing..LIE!!!! We ended up taking the cash out offer our warranty company offered (but you have to ask for it) and using another company that came out and installed a complete unit for 2600 with a 10 year warranty... do not let this company on your property! they lie to you and then turn around and lie to the warranty company!!we cancelled our warranty company as well... I have a sixteen year old complete electric heat and air unit that freezes up on me in these hot day's and since I am with American Home Shield they sent Mike Sanchez to my house to look at my unit and he told me in person that I was low on freon and my indoor evaporator coil was packed with junk in it and my unit needed to be replaced and it will be took care of by Wednesday July 13,2022 and he wrote on his report that there was nothing wrong with my unit and that I don't know what I was talking about that is what American Home Shield told me now since Mike Sanchez didn't even want to replace the indoor evaporator coils as he admitted on video that was packed I had to ask a naiber of mine if he could get a hold of his friend that works on heat and air conditioner units if he could see if he can do it for me and he said he can but the A/C Coil it's self is $1,050.00 plus shipping and then my naibers friend is going to charge me $250.00 to do the job. So that proves American Home Shield doesn't care about there customers and trusts people that commit fraud like AMP MECHANICAL in Eufaula,OK so if I was you if you ever have to be stuck with this company and have Mike Sanchez come over to your house " RECORD Him" like I did. Because like " Shelby L." We received a goodman AC unit in August and we were told to watch for a rebate program from our electric company the following month that would pay for our ac unit. we waited nothing ever came so I kept trying to get ahold of amp And never could get through left messages. I finally get ahold of them in December and was told to call the electric company. Called them the rebate program ended in June. so I called amp and they said they didn't know much about rebates and that it's been past 30 day the rebate wouldn't do anything now. First off they lied second they shouldn't tell people about rebates that the know nothing about. now we are stuck with an over $8000.00 bill. Our heater stopped working around 9pm on Thursday evening, so I put in a service request with our home warranty company at 7am on Friday morning. At 7:30am, I received a call from AMP Mechanical that someone would be out between 8am and 2pm that day. The company called when the technician was on his way, and he arrived around 11am. Josh was very professional and courteous, and he had our heater up and running within 30 minutes. I have NEVER had a heating company come out so quickly and be so professional, courteous, and efficient. We will definitely call AMP again! read more

I had hoped. After reading poor reviews, I had to adj u st 3 stsrs ti 1. Technician said he cleaned ducts twice. Never heard any sounds. He said the flooding was due to the safety valve being stuck. Welk, i doubt very seriously he did a thing. I should have stayed in top of this guy and validated everything. Water is pooling on floor still...valve still stuck. No lubricant and no resolutuon. I will not be picking up any contract with AHS. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Stay away, far far away. This company was assigned to me through HomeShield Warranty. After waiting 5 days for the initial visit, the technician did not fix my problem. He stated that he replaced "some fried wires". The unit behaved the exact same way after he left, so I question if he did anything. Mind you I have two AC units (one upstairs and one downstairs) The upstairs unit was operating normally the entire time. The downstairs unit was shutting off after an hour of operation. I called and left a voicemail to which they never responded telling them the downs stairs unit is still not fixed. After reopening the ticket with my warranty company, I then had to wait another 4 days for the follow up visit. On the second visit, I showed him that water had filled up the drip pan. The technician stated that was likely the problem, and sorry he missed it 7 days before. He then stated that drain was likely clogged and he had to unclog it. After spending about 30 minutes supposedly unclogging the drain, he left, and stated he had bypassed one of the safety cutoff switches. The downstairs unit was running and cooling, however, now the upstairs unit was now blowing warm air. I called them back immediately (within 30 minutes after he left). The woman on the phone stated that the work order was only for the downstairs unit, not the upstairs. I argued it was working just fine before the technician came. She said she would have to call him and get back to me. I have never received that phone call. At this point, I called a reputable HVAC company to come and fix the problem with me paying for it out of my own pocket. They stated that the drain was still clogged. They cleared the clog and both upstairs and downstairs are working now. They also told me that the AMP technician completely removed the safety switch circuit board and took it with him. So now it is going to cost me another $212 to replace the part that he removed and took from my system. Unbelievable. read more

If I could give 0 I would! Had to use because of warranty company. A/C went out on a Tuesday. It took until Monday to get a technician out to my house. He was here 10 minutes and said it was electrical. Had an electrician come out on Tuesday and electrical was fine. Called warranty company and they called AMP. AMP said it would be Friday before another technician could come out. We had our money refunded from warranty company and called local heat and air company. Same day service! AMP should not be trusted with your heat and air needs! read more
