I was just driving along a country road from Indiana to Lima, Ohio when suddenly a small sign…read morepopped up saying "Annie Oakley Grave" with an arrow pointing to a side road. I thought, "What??". I grew up on cowboys and Indians and one of my favorite TV shows was "Annie Oakley". I had missed the turn but took the next right to reconnect with the road. After driving aways, there was another sign and Brock Cemetery. I turned in slowly, parked, and walked reverently up to the headstones for Annie, her parents, and husband Frank Butler. It was pretty awesome to be standing at her final resting place. I read the information on the plaques, took some pictures, and somberly continued on my trip. You just never know what you will come across when you take the small roads to your destination instead of freeways.

I stumbled on this when looking for museums and other interesting places near Marysville. When I…read morewalked up to the building I was amazed. Zanesfield is a nice little town, with quite a few preserved buildings, but I did not expect a library as stunning as this. Built in 1914, I believe, it is Carnegie-esque and simply exquisite, inside and out. Beautiful details and design. It is sort of half library, half museum, with small history displays, maps, photo albums, a large local history shelf, and a decent selection of other books and periodicals. There's a children's room, Internet access, and a small kitchen downstairs which would make it an interesting event venue. The librarian is very knowledgeable about the library and community, and has written a wonderful walking tour pamphlet. Be sure to pick one up.

Desk Staff: Everyone seems kind, I had April assist me with my paperwork and she was very friendly and even joked about how all my vehicles are black. Everyone seemed to be working quickly and respectful of their customers time. Bathrooms: No public restrooms, which is a bummer, but standard for a BMV. Wait Time: I have never had to wait in a line when coming here, although I do come during the week and no weekends, so I can't review the weekend wait time.

After a delicious meal, I decided to walk to the Celina Lighthouse to check it out. It is probably the smallest lighthouse I have been too. Still it is beautiful. You cannot enter it, but you can walk up steps to be able to look out onto the lake. You get great views and a bit of peace to enjoy the sight. Check it out if you are in the area!

I heard about this, and I don't live that far away, but it didn't seem worth a trip on its own…read more Today I was in town, visiting historic sites and getting some food, and realized I was so close I might as well stop by. It is indeed very very short. So short, there's no parking on it. On one side, there's a factory, on the other side there's railroad tracks. And it's at a triangle where two other streets come together. It's about 30 feet long. There's a street sign, and no other marker. Pretty interesting. Five minutes off the highway if you're passing by, maybe not worth a detour unless you like quirky places.
