I love carbs. I think carbs get a bad rep for making you fat, but as with anything, moderation is key. Bread shops like Amor make it hard for me to stick to that mantra of self-control and moderation. I love it when I have a lot of options to choose from especially when it comes to my bread, pastries and baked treats. I went to Morayta to have my eyeglasses fixed and I was looking around for something to eat when I saw Amor's inviting facade. I knew I just had to go and check it out, and check it out I did. Their sweet breads and pastries that are just gorgeous.
The concept allows you to pick breads and pile them on your trays as you want with their sanitary tongs, then you pay for them at the cashier. You can also sit down and order a coffee, as they have plenty of cafe space upstairs and at the al fresco area (which I wouldn't suggest because the air outside is thick with car fumes). This is quite new around the Espana area and it still has that newcomer feel - with scores of people lining up during peak hours. I don't think it's going to wane anytime soon, though. The breads are enough to have people going back for more. The comfortable cafe area is another draw for students from nearby schools since they can plop down with their computers and linger.
They don't have WiFi though, which is a bit of a bummer, but at least their comfy cafe area is a quiet respite from the "kagulo" environment around this area. If you are craving a pastry and carb fix and you are in the area, this should be your top choice. read more
