Skender-Newton Realty

Skender-Newton Realty

After a somewhat challenging Google search for a realtor in our new town of Cookeville, I…read moreremembered that Dave Ramsey has an affiliate network of trusted realtors. I reached out and immediately was contacted by three different Ramsey-approved realtors, including Tyler Wilson from the Skender Newton Group. With our schedules only allowing for a one weekend buying trip, there was no time to waste in making sure we had someone who fully understood our needs and preferences. While all of the realtors were accommodating, friendly, and competent, I ultimately decided to go with Tyler because he was the only one who asked me specific questions and really sought to understand what it was WE were looking for, rather than trying to sell me on his credentials. Tyler was just enough of everything for us -- whether it be the type of contact, the flow of communication/info, or the pleasantries, he expertly mirrored what we prefer -- again, not making it about himself but truly about us. This made the buying experience enjoyable, stress-free, and even fun! Tyler lined up all eight houses we wanted to see for a full day of viewings and even timed them all to the best route! A real local, he knew the areas very well. He would drive us through nearby neighborhoods rather than the main route so we could get a feel for the vibe and he even added a house to our list that we hadn't asked for because he knew we would want to see the area. In the end, this was actually the house we bought! If not for him, we wouldn't have even thought to look at it. We couldn't have been happier with our buying experience with Tyler -- he was the utmost in professional and courteous while consistently putting our needs first. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell a home in the Cookeville area!

We only rented from Steven's Realty as a last resort. We already knew they had a bad reputation,…read morebut we didn't know it was going to be this bad. And now that we've lived it, we feel like it's our responsibility to warn others: rent from them only if you have absolutely NO other choice. Here's what we experienced: * We were given only one working key at move in. The others left for us (that they left in our mailbox and didnt bother to tell us about btw) didn't even work, which is both a security risk and a basic failure of preparation. * Our front door DOESNT EVEN SHUT, weve been trying to get it fixed for the month and 2 weeks weve been here, the fix they DID do was half assed, and on the 4th the door stopped closing AGAIN and that night one of our kitties escaped and we havent seenn her since. You can literally see chunks of light through the gaps and when it rains, water pools inside the duplex. * The apartment reeked of wet dog due to uncleaned carpets, something we raised concern about multiple times before signing the lease and signed only under terms of the carpett being odor free. We were promised it would be addressed. It wasn't. Even after move in, we followed up again and they did nothing. The office ghosted us, ignored work orders, and took zero accountability. We have full documentation and photos of everything. This wasn't just miscommunication, this was neglect. I didnt even MENTION the roaches!!! If you're even thinking about renting from Steven's Realty, please know: You'd be better off doing week to week at a motel than signing a lease with these people. We do not recommend them under any circumstance. Unless you're absolutely out of options. We're sharing this to save someone else the stress, the health risks, and the total lack of support we are going through. You deserve better than this.

I selected a one star rating because Yelp does not offer a minus 50 star rating. Stevens is the…read moremost unprofessional, unethical, uncaring, hypocritical company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. They refused to address issues of mold in 3 rooms, leaking a/c unit that caved in the wall beneath it, but wanted to charge me $75 twice a year to do inspections. Had tocall the fire department to report the a/c unit as it was leaking into a wall outlet which presented a fire hazard. The mold was a bad health hazard which resulted in several health conditions on my part. They want over $1400 for cleaning costs to an apartment they are gutting to remodel. They have even stated repeatedly they had no knowledge of the problems even though it was their inspectors who reported them twice a year. All Stevens is interested in is how much money they can extort from their tenants. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE LYING CHEATING HYPOCRITES ! The apartment is listing as $ 850 a month to rent plus ** Mandatory Charges on top of Base Rent *** Electric = $65/month Water = $35/month Internet = $45/month Renters Insurance = $14.99/month Smart Home Automation = $14.95/month Community Perks Benefit Package = $2.99/month Total charges = $ 177.93/month See below for more details Plus nonrefundable application fee and $200 nonrefundable smoking fee and a nonrefundable pet fee of $300 per pet. Everything changed after we found The Realty Collective, and started working with Chena. Right off the bat, she was keen to build a strong online presence for our listing. She even arranged to redo the professional photography to make our listing photos stand out more and even added a virtual house tour that really showcased our home. One of the great things about working with Chena is that she doesn't just sit back and wait for buyers to come to her. No, she's very proactive! She actively marketed by creating engaging content for social media platforms to attract potential clients, hosted open houses every week, and the entire realty office collaborated and worked as a team to get as much visibility as possible. When it comes to communication, Chena was a star. She gave us detailed updates on each showing and always kept us in the loop about where our listing was posted and how it was performing in terms of views. Whenever the house required attention, she took the initiative to arrange for services to come and take care of everything that needed to be done. Chena delivered in selling our house within the timeframe that we hoped. She put in the effort and did more than expected to make sure we were happy with the results. We're very happy that we got to work with Chena and we would not hesitate to recommend her in a heartbeat!

As an out of state investor without any experience with Putnam County Real Estate agents I "rolled…read morethe dice". After reviewing several agent websites it was just a random agent selection. These selection odds are not usually favorable more like purchasing a lottery ticket. Whatever..... but my "WINNING NUMBERS" ( letters ) spelled SHIRLEY RIDDLE. Shirley was straight forward without any pressure. She knew the market, she had the contacts and soon I was just following her lead. The property needed repairs, she quickly arranged a skilled repairman who took care of all the obstacles. With an elderly tenant in the property she was considerate of the rights of the tenant and worked the showings to perfection. She was timely to inform me of the results and comments of each showing. She worked the sale through two offers and negotiated strongly on my behalf. The result was a 10K sale above the asking price. It was a long shot for an out of state transaction to go so well. I could not have been more satisfied. Shirley Riddle is truly a pro in the profession of REAL ESTATE. This review is from one who has experienced some 30+ purchases and sales throughout the USA.. Trust me she is your choice !

If I could leave a negative star rating for this agent I would…read more She flat out lied about the property she had listed. Her exact words were "there is an animal smell because the owner lets the animals in and out of the house." Actually, the house reeked so bad from animal urine it stung the eyes and nose. She added to the sales contract, "inspection within 10 days", fairly standard in a contract, but failed to let us know that the seller was going to be out of town for nearly a week and wouldn't allow inspections or even showings while they were out of town. Then after our inspection (on day 5 of the days we could actually access the property, and before we even had the formal paid inspection), when we decided that the overwhelming smell was not something we could live with (and getting feedback from house inspectors that we'd probably have to replace the wooden floor and the sub floor), she tells the sellers and works with them to keep 50% of the earnest deposit. Seriously, if you are buying a house that she has listed, be very careful. And if you are wanting to list a house try and find someone who has more ethics and morals. People like her are what give real estate agents a bad name.
