Dr. Hom consistently asks…read morefor details of the problem(s) and solicits feedback during and after the session so the problem(s) can get fixed. He is generous with his time and knowledge. I have never felt like Dr. Hom was annoyed or judging me for short-comings (ex: not doing some exercises one week). I have only waited once (for 3-5 minutes) to check in, transition to new activities, or pay out, and that was because another patient had some important questions for him. [Now that I think of this, the only other place in healthcare where I don't usually wait is with my N.D.... Rarely waiting in healthcare is SO RARE!] After prescribing helpful exercises at home, I also appreciated his female assistant reviewing these with me while he went on to work with another client. I consistently feel GREAT after a session with him. Greg Hom is a QUALIITY individual, TOP-NOTCH professional and has a heart to serve the New Haven community. Try him out: you won't be disappointed.

One visit with Dr. Hom and I was already breathing a sigh of relief for the first time in weeks. On the same day of my first visit he even followed up with me twice to check in and offered to contact him over the weekend if I was still having pain. Definitely knows his stuff and takes a comprehensive approach to treating and managing pain. Also, very attentive, professional and caring.

This was my personal experience;…read more Even if you have been a previous patient within Yale Medical for years but are a new patient with the Yale Orthopedic & Rehab, expect a long wait for an appointment, at least for Dr. Gibson anyway. Even as a prior patient of Doctor Gibson beyond three years of seeing him last you are considered a new patient. Do not be fooled by a non-existent waiting list either, every time I called there to ask if there's been a cancellation they added me to it, nor the false hope of calling daily for a possible cancelation opening as you will learn below. I've had knee pain now for several months and I scheduled an appointment with Doctor Gibson for March of 2023, acquired in November of 2022. I've made numerous calls to try and obtain an earlier appointment due to a cancellation, as directed by Yale staff when I called to schedule my original appointment. I was advised to call daily by several people that schedule appointments. On December 19, 2022, I was told there was a cancellation in January of 2023. When the receptionist learned I was a new patient, I was told "Oh sorry, you're not eligible for this appointment as a new patient." A complete contradiction to what I was advised back in November and most every time I called. How can an open appointment not be available to a patient, whether that patient is new or existing!? To say the least I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated with Yale Orthopedics & Rehabilitation. Good luck to all new patients. Connecticut Orthopedics is a great alternative. Kurt T

As a result of a job that required a ridiculous amount of pushing furniture, carrying my office with me everywhere and not having a desk caused more damage than necessary. When a second shot of cortisone didn't work, Dr. Halim suggested I wear a brace to protect my wrist. In 2017 I found that surgery was the next step. I am no stranger to going under so I was fine with that. An MRI revealed arthritis as well so I was glad to be rid of it. After surgery I was in a cast followed by therapy. All one place, the doctors and nurses are professional and do their best to get you in and out quickly. Dr. Halim also has another office where appointments may be easier. She is kind and I am pain free.

Avoid this practitioner at all costs. I repeat: Avoid this practitioner at all costs. My story is…read morelengthy, but it will illustrate why I am directing you to avoid Dr. Hurney. There is something downright suspicious about the way they decide upon your diagnosis before they've even seen your feet. The fact that they refuse to contact your regular podiatrist's billing office in order to compare billing codes is another indication that something is greatly amiss. When the dismissive Dr. Hurney, his nasty medical assistant (to whom I refer as Kellyanne Conway Jr.) and a rude cretin named Tom continually argue with you about the foot care that you've received from your regular podiatrist---one of the area's finest who's been featured on the cover of Connecticut Magazine---it would strike you as gaslighting techniques. After "Kellyanne" said that my podiatrist must have committed fraud for supposedly submitting the wrong codes, I was astonished as it was such an incredibly inflammatory accusation. And even though Tom scoffed at my suggestion that taking $50 from me is a lot easier than submitting a claim to my insurance, what else could I surmise ~ especially when they never even submitted a claim to Medicare? "We could make twice as much by submitting to Medicare!" Oh really? Then why didn't you get the right codes and submit a claim? For 15 years, my fungal infection has been a recurring problem that brings me to my usual podiatrist every 9-12 weeks. But it's also been covered by Medicare and Medicaid all these years. What I later learned from Marie ~ the only person kind enough to call my usual podiatrist's billing office to clarify the situation on the following day ~ is that the procedures and diagnoses were similar. Yet Dr. Hurney's insistence to refer to my issue and procedure as "routine care" ensured that I would pay out of pocket! And, again, he'd already made this decision before consulting me and indulging in a procedure acutely similar to what I usually receive. Calling my regular podiatrist's office was also mysteriously out of the question. Moreover, it is NOT routine care if it involves a fungal infection. This is nonsensical, but the way they treated a new patient (who might have established herself as a regular patient if they'd been competent) is horrible. THEY are horrible. What's even worse is the fact that my late mother was his ongoing patient for years! Honestly, I worked in various facets of customer service for over a decade and never did I deal with such idiocy and insanity. Why would you want a potential new patient to leave and never return? Because I am a participant in the QMB (Medicaid) program, I talked to several of their agents. I also spoke with Medicare and my own podiatrist's billing office. Medicare simply referred me to Medicaid but not before telling me that Dr. Hurney may be guilty of fraud for accepting my money when I'm part of the QMB program. When I mentioned this to Tom, he roared that it wasn't true. Right, sure. I doubted that and everything else they spewed. Medicaid urged me to send a copy of the statement proving that I spent $50 out of pocket, especially since their system showed no evidence of a denied Medicare claim. Due to this turn of events, it's possible that the state can reimburse this money to me or at least notify Dr. Hurney that he must refund my money immediately. Moreover, the well-versed billing representative at my own podiatrist's office was astounded at what they'd done to me and was not pleased to know that Dr. Hurney's medical assistant inexplicably referred to their office as fraudulent. All I know is that narcissists and their "flying monkeys" typically engage in these tactics. Listen closely to what they say and realize that everything is projection. And only a well-trained flying monkey could drive me into histrionics. If Tom had been a nice person who'd wanted to work out the issue, it would have been fine. Instead, he talked tight rings around me until I was confused and flustered. He denied everything I knew to be true. Then I snapped out of my trance when I heard "sorry you feel this way, but that's your opinion." He pushed a red hot button, and I reacted adversely by yelling at him. No, it wasn't my opinion that they were gaslighting me and stealing my money. It was a FACT. Am I sorry? No. They were foul and my reaction was understandable. After he hung up on me, I called back. He told another person in the office that he would send a statement to me that reflected my payment ~ well, that's interesting. He refused to do that only ten minutes earlier. If you were considering Dr. Hurney, please save yourself from a nasty migraine and take your business somewhere else. (Editorial note 4/5/17: After Medicaid informed this doctor that he could not bill a QMB participant when he is a Medicaid provider as well, my $50 was indeed refunded to me via postal mail today. That is karmic justice in action.)
