Worst customer service. I sold a boat through Amity and the owner "Ron" (refused to tell me his last name) refuses to mail a check or wire the funds from the sale of the boat. He said I had to come personally to pick up a check from their office. I explained that I lived far away (over 2 hours drive each way), work full time, and have a family. He refused to budge, citing potential fraud. I asked he mail the check to the address on the title, or wire the funds to me directly, and that I would waive any liability related to fraud in writing with him. "Ron" would not budge. I spoke with the sales agent, John Noonan, and said "what if I sold the boat because I moved to California, would you make me fly in to pick up the check?" He said "yes". Both just kept repeating themselves over and over about their "policy". FYI: when Amity needed money from me for storage fees, it happily handled the transaction through mail or on line and I certainly did not make Amity come to my house to pick up the check. read more

should have choice to pick no stars,,bought used grady white..long story short had to pull teeth to get call backs, had to drive down there app 5 times to address issues because of useless office help..upon picking boat up..it was uncovered in marina right along montauk hwy...boat was fithy with road slash falling down on open bow rider...oh it gets better...200 yds in canal upon delivery , boat dies...no fuel..morons have me take delivery of fithy disgusting boat with no fuel..no idea how these clowns remain in business inept .. read more

Most unprofessional experience I have ever had with both John and Rob at Amity Harbor! We initially went to look at boat, scheduled 2 1/2 days in advance. They had just removed the winterization covers that morning- the boat presented well, however would not start due to batteries not being charged. John was embarrassed and apologetic that day that he forgot to check that- unfortunately we could not proceed until they took the time to prepare the boat to be properly seen. Since then, I have followed up over the phone to try to re-visit. I inquired about records- they say no one keeps records on boat maintenance, the previous owner told us what they had done, and we go by their word, and Rob and John contradicted each other about time the boats been in the water. They have been pushy on the phone and with dictation of their process. In order to see it again- need to agree on price and schedule survey. We want to see it again, appropriately, prior to that step to potentially move forward. Now we are being told they never start the engines when someone comes to see the boat, When I reminded John how embarrassed he was that the boat would not start because he did not do his due diligence prior to our appointment- he said we will not do business with you. They falsify information, Staff contradict each other, not reliable nor trustworthy, huge lack of professionalism! read more

I would stay far, far away. The sales process was good with John and Dorothy. They care. It is the after sale that has been horrific. From day one, May 15, my docking light switch and fresh water switch were bad. I cannot use either. I have asked for the switches to be ordered and I keep getting a run around. They said a few weeks ago that," their rep would call them On Tuesday and they would then be in touch with a update. NOTHING! I have called, e-mailed with no response. I reached out to a Local Robalo dealer who was more than accommodating as they are the same company as Chaparral. They researched the information, ordered and already have the new switches and are installing them. I would drive to Connecticut next time if I purchase another Chapparal so that I do not have the continued aggravation again with this dealership. Stay away!! Trust the negative reviews and learn from my mistake. They just don't care after the sale and the sad part is you're dealing with the owner who does not give two hoots. UPDATE: since this dealer was so difficult to work with, decided to sell my Chap. Went with another local Long Island dealer. The difference in customer service is superb. We recently purchased our new 2022 Chaparral 280 OSX from Rob at Amity Harbor in Copiague. While I could rave for hours about the boat, its more important that we let others know how awesome everyone at Amity Harbor is. We were initially hesitant to do business with them because of all the negative reviews we've read online like forgetting you exist the moment you sign. Majority of the complaints were due to delays on warranty parts that were out of stock which is beyond their control so you can't really blame the dealer. We were anxious and excited to pick up the boat early since we only have a few boating weekends left and the boat wasn't "detailed" as discussed. Rob apologized and promised that the boat will be washed and cleaned at no charge when we pick up in the spring of 2023 Including a "complimentary" storage, winterization, and recommissioning which is an amazing deal! Rob assured us that he will personally take care of any issues that arises in the future. We still have to find out whether their after sales service matches the awesome service we received when we purchased the boat. The only downside is we don't think we are buying another boat for a very long time. Thank you, Rob and your team, for making our buying experience seamless. He went over all of the punch list items with me when I dropped off the boat and then again when I picked it up. It was ready on time and everything was taken care of. I wouldn't even give this marina one star...purchased our boat last year and had nothing but problems..then we would try to bring the boat in for service on parts they installed with a warranty and they would just ignore the request or pretend like they didn't install it. This boat seller does not stand behind the used boats they resell nor do they do the work they charge you for tuneups. Don't think about visiting them as there are many more boat dealers in the area and you'll only get burnt from them for any purchase. We lost over $1600.00 in repairs a on a boat we were told was in excellent condition. They also charged us over $1200.00 for a tune up and the marina that did the repairs said nothing was done!! read more

This is my second Chaparral boat that was purchased from Amity Harbor Marine. Our first was a 2007 and now a 2020. We have had the same salesman for both boats, John is both professional and extremely helpful. We were always treated respectfully and courteously. Even with the recent pandemic, they attempted to make our purchase and delivery as efficiently and safe as possible. We were given a fair trade in for our original boat and the process went smoothly. Sales people nice (bc they need the sale.) Service is not only horrible but service manager is rude and disrespectful. Cursed at us (he likes the f* bomb) and threw us out of dealership. Will not acknowledge or remedy warranty and defect issues despite repeated promises to do so. Three seasons and still no resolve. I purchased my first boat at Amity Harbor 11 years ago. And stored my boat there every winter and had them service the boat each fall and spring. I can say from experience they have done an excellent job servicing my boat and standing behind all of there work. I once had an issue when I was out called Ron told me to bring it over and resolved the issue on he spot. 11 years of service I can tell you they know what they are doing and their mechanics are fantastic. I turned my boat in last fall and decided to upgrade to the chaparral 250 suncoast. Rob and John handled my sale with ease and professionalism. My new boat is being launched soon and I expect nothing different than I had in the last 11 years. Great service and nice people are hard to find. But based on my experience and my buddy who purchased two new chaparrals they are by far the best. Feel confident buying or servicing your boat at Amity Harbor. read more

I Bought my New boat from John and was treated very nicely and had some issues when i got the boat I made a list and the boys took care of them right away. John is so helpful and i would say very knowledgeable. Sometimes honesty goes a long way in life. One of the problems has persisted and when i told them about it they put a mechanic on the boat right away and couldn't fine the problem. when i went down to the boat yesterday the owner came out and told me what was going on and i understood and he says if it still happens he would order the part and change it right away. I know they are very busy getting ready for a show and still fit my boat in. Would def buy a boat from them again and would recommend anyone to buy a bout there. read more

This is a marina with 2 great boat lines, Sea Hunt and Chaparral. One great for fishing and one great for family cruising. I truly believe that is the ONLY reason this marina stays in business. The salesmen might as well sell snake oil. Based on that imagine how the service department is..... They are full of "I called you back 3 times" , bring the boat in on Tuesday ( closed Mondays ) and then when Tuesday arrives they are just too busy to service you. I love my boat but would honestly recommend buying ANYTHING else to avoid dealing with them. read more

Gave $100 to hold a boat I wanted to purchase subject to a survey. Salesman told me that it was refundable (like every other boat dealer). After I decided the issues the survey revealed were more than I wanted to deal with I asked for my deposit back. Salesman transferred me to lady who could do the refund. She explained to me that their policy was I needed to return my copy of the purchase agreement and without that there was nothing she could do. I said that was a ridiculous policy, she said it came from the owner, who was "unavailable" to talk to me. She also told me that if you return an item to a store you need the receipt. I guess that could be correct if I paid cash, but this was a credit card and I have nothing to return to them. Surprised that a business that deals with big ticket items would try to beat me out of $100. Before yesterday I just didn't want to buy the original boat from them, now I won't buy any boat from them. read more
