Overall: Constantly good pizza, but a very raucous atmosphere…read more This has got to be one of the louder Zizzi's I've been to, but it's in my home town - so either I put up with it, or not go in. It's located in the main strip of nightclubs within Derby and can be very very loud. Service is shoddy here and food is not the best compared to the other Zizzi branches. I've had ice-cold chicken in a dish that was supposed to be warm here. They serve the usual aperitifs, nibbles, starters, pizza (includes calzone), risotto, desserts, wines, coffee and spirits. As with other Zizzi's, my favourite dish are the pizzas, each range from around 6.50-9.50 GBP. You won't be finding no thick, soggy, spongy pizza crust here - it's all about the thin, light, airy crust with the main feature being the exquisite toppings. The best dessert on the menu here has to be the banana con cioccolata - caramelized banana with toffee and chocolate sauce on a Belgian waffle, served with vanilla ice cream (4.75 GBP).

Not enough spinach on the plate, and a limp salad, but the dauphinoise potatoes were a good addition. Bottled beer here is overpriced in my opinion. £6.60 of a large bottle of lager is more than a number of the main courses. A mixed bread shared starter, 2 mains and 2 soft drinks came to £32. The best thing about our visit was that we walked in on a friday night without a reservation, and we were seated immediately. Which was good because I was hungry. I would return, although probably not for another year.

Pepitos Restaurant - Cheese and onion enchiladas. Usually their enchiladas are filled heavily. These were apparently special for me.

That said, the waitstaff was lovely and gave excellent service. The chef even came by to make sure I really wanted cheese enchiladas (they had not heard of this before). Presentation was very nice. Food quantity was generous (enchiladas came with two sides). The chips were served in a pile with salsa on top. I assume they usually also put guacamole and sour cream on top but I asked for it without. The food was somewhat spicy. Salsa was tasty. The enchilada sauce was not enchilada sauce at all. It looked and tasted like an Asian sweet and spicy sauce of some kind. Very unusual. I wanted to see what it was like and I found out. Quite different. There is very little Mexican influence in this food but it was nice and so were the people there.

Rustic, low-key décor, a menu of familiar dishes, civil prices, and friendly, competent staff make this one of the best places for eating-out in Derby. The head waiter was very courteous and diplomatic, and he easily resolved a "situation" that I had with a family who didn't like me making photos of the place. I had an almost too sumptuous dinner there in October, and will happily return when back in the city. Recommended!
