When I relocated back to Western Mass I was so excited to be able to start going back to Balance for my haircuts with Natalie. The place is spotless and nicely decorated and every time I have to call teh receptionist is sweet and accomodating. Their prices are always reasonable and the most important thing : the cut is always exactly what I am looking for. Actually I lied, its usually better. I hate dealing with my hair. I hate thinking about what to do with my hair. I hate styling it, drying it, dying it... I just hate messing with it in general. So that's why I just go whine to Natalie and she fixes me. I think the last time I went in there I said "Can you just make me look less Soccer Mom and more Hot Ass Super Mom?". She just gets me. I had requested an emergency appointment with Natalie 3 days before my wedding because I had decided that I wanted to chop the hair I was trying to grow to facilitate an updo and just go back to a short sassy 'do. No pressure at all right? She rose to the occasion yet again and fixed me just in time. My looked awesome at my wedding and I didnt even have to Bridezilla hack at it in the hotel bathroom in a fit of rage. Total success. I love Balance and you should too.

I left an HONEST review here the Weds before Thanksgiving. It was a poor review, but honest. 7 days later, the salon owners were made aware of said review, and literally... all hell broke loose. I was contacted by every employee at Sage. As was my significant other who has no stake in this, whatsoever. Horrible things have been said about me in this review app as well as fb, and publicly. I have been contacted by Sage "clients" with threats and horrible things said to me, and one of the owners husbands has made fun of my hair and what Rachel At Sage did to my hair. And, my Yelp account was reported as a fake and I had to get in touch with Yelp to ensure that I am a real human with an honest review. After this, I thought- holy sh*t - all of this over one review, I was THE ONLY Yelp review on this salon the weds before thanksgiving, by the way. But- I won't be bullied by some seriously deranged people. And, I'm glad that this didn't happen to every customer at Sage. But, guess what - this did happened to me and I am providing information to people who use this, Bc it is true. I waited an obscene amount of time for my appointment, my hair was RUINED, I sat with dripping hair in a chair for 50 mins waiting for a cut until I had enough and left. I'd like to add that the receptionist at Sage was tasked with rinsing my overprocessed hair and as she didn't even rinse the shampoo. Rachel didn't even LOOK at the color, she knew i was unhappy and did not care at all. When I contacted the owner when I left- I was met with excuses and I was blamed for the bad end product. Saying that i changed my type of service, my hair is too thick, I'm not flexible, etc--- ALL FALSE. And this, is not right. I was not offered anything in the form of correction until one of the owners saw the review I left on that weds - since removed as my account was reported as fake. This is what happened, this is true. I was offered a correction after a WEEK- would anyone in their right mind go back? No. These girls are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and clearly asked people they know, clients or friends, to reach out to me, and that is disgusting. I will mention that Makila is the ONLY person with an ounce of professionalism at this establishment- but the rest... unbelievable. Over an honest review. I'm providing a picture, real pic, of what my hair looked like that Weds when i left. Beware!!!

Normally, I don't ever come back to a colorist with issues, so this was a first for me, but I was glad to work with her to fix it. The management was awful from the start. I called to make my appointment and she had me tell her what I was having done. I have no idea, I don't know the different color techniques or what I should have done. Turns out they wanted to know how much time I would need in the chair. I would have no idea. Then I had a serious issue with the color itself. The front is brassy blond with odd root lines showing and the back is almost a white blond. But I was happy to go in for a fix. Management called me prior to my "fix it" appointment and I was grilled demanding to know my entire hair color history over the phone, I'm not a colorist so I had no idea how to explain it or what I was going to need to have done to fix it. The I was accused of being unhappy with what I told the colorist to do. Huh? If a customer is unhappy and kindly requests a fix, why didn't she have me come in and evaluate herself, rather than grill me over the phone? Turns out she was concerned about how much time I would require in a chair, again. Also, she informed me that I'd have to pay for the blow out after it was fixed. I am supposed to walk out with wet hair and assume the color looks good? She explained you weren't happy with the color, not the blow out. So, you have to pay for the blowout. WHAT? The tone used, the excuses, the blame the customer attitude and my hair still isn't the way I'd like it.

My old hair color came back after just one wash and when I questioned it, they will just tell me they can't do anything about it or that I must buy their pricey shampoos to make it work. They even recommended me to dye it a second time in a week to get the color that I want....which just tells me they just want your money knowing that-that much of chemicals in someone's here in just a short amount of time is harmful and unhealthy. I asked do not take more than an inch off as she was cutting. She cut off so much I look like a kindergartner who cut their own hair. I said they were too short .
