I was wondering if I should write this review as quite a bit of time has passed--about 5 years. However, the nail care my daughter received for an ingrown nail is a constant reminder of disregard for patient aesthetics. As most people mentioned, she is very energetic and a warm people person. Don't let this fool you. My daughter has had more than one nail treated for ingrown--one, a male doctor, who did a great job and kept the nail in tact. and Dr. Sheth--who virtually cut and treated it at an odd angle--forever crooked. No--no more issues with ingrown--but not ideal--seemed like she put no thought into the healing portion. For a young girl (or any patient for that matter)--it is important and relevant--especially if it it's avoidable. I happen to notice someone else's review mentioning the same thing--propelled to write--as it's obviously recurring and not her strong suitl. Secondly--an more importantly, we came in for shin splints, noticed some "floating bone" in her ankle...she wanted an MRI--my daughter, at the time was about 15. I said, "why? we are not doing surgery"--she said "we should know what's going on"--made sense. But, then, sure enough, she pushed for surgery. I put an immediate halt on that and saw a Stanford foot doctor--for my daughter's level of activity in sports--she did not need the recommended surgery (one that he himself has lived with). She has gone on to play varsity sports in HS and now, a young adult, snow skis, jogs, gym work outs etc. The Stanford doc also shared what the formal name for the issues was--vs "floating bone." For me--2 strikes. I am need of a podiatrist right now...searching the internet for a good fit. read more

I really like Dr.Ami A Sheth. She is smart and very friendly. Her staff were nice too.

Tl;dr- Ami Sheth doesn't respect your time; so be prepared to spend half a day for 5 minutes of her time. Not a good listener, so not great with diagnosis either. First visit - doctor is one hour late for the first appointment, speaks incoherently and leaves me with a boot to wear without explaining clearly and leaving me in a limbo. Thankfully, I got a second consult who explained everything clearly, suggested stretches for me, and did shockwave therapy. Second visit - She is 20 minutes late and irritated with me that I wanted to be seen on time. Tells me to see another doctor if I do not have time to wait. Hasn't recorded things correctly/ hasn't seen previous records properly from previous visit - so she asks me why I have pain on the outside ankle now when I had pain in the inside ankle before. So if you are stuck with her for a few years now, please revisit your situation and go to someone who wants to cure you rather than earn money. read more

It has been a month since my initial visit, and due to issues with my feet because of the toenail care I received at that time, I am no longer interested in continuing treatment with Dr. Sheth. True enough, she was very pleasant, but some things that occurred during and after the appointment distressed me and were red flags, to the point that I am going to find another podiatrist. First, when I saw her, she and her assistant came in quickly and Dr. Sheth seemed to be in a hurry. The assistant was in training, from what I could tell, and at one point during the toenail trimming, one toe of which, the large left foot toe, was cut so short and thin and small that it will take months to look and feel like a normal toenail again. I began to have pain in that toe which continues today. The toe area just below the base of the toenail where it grows out is still very tender and I have severe jolts of nerve pain which makes sleep difficult. During that toenail cutting, at one point she said to the assistant in training (as if I was not in the room) that sometimes the entire nail comes off! Why she would do this in my presence, I have no idea, and at this point I would rather see a nail salon tech, even though I have thick toenails as most old people do. I described what I wanted her to address if I continued to see her, including neuropathy in both feet, and apparently she didn't feel it was that important to start on at my initial visit, because all she did was have her office person schedule me for another toenail trimming three months in the future. Needless to say, because of the foregoing, I will not be keeping that appointment. She said at the initial visit that Medicare does not cover toenail trimming unless medically indicated (i.e. diabetes which I don't have), but that as a favor she would not charge me the usual $85 for trimming at the initial visit. She said during my appointment that if I needed wound care I would have to see the WC clinic at Good Samaritan Mission Oaks. I said I would not go there because they made the lymphedema I have worse during one visit, and she insisted that I would have to see them. Another red flag. In my last previous review I mentioned the fact that the toilet is way too low for anyone to rise from unless they are very short (I am tall and with mobility issues), and she said offhandedly that yes, it was short. Apparently no plans to address this (I saw a huge wall mounted sign showing that they were in the process of building a new location in downtown Los Gatos). She did send me a handwritten thank you note, though, but that doesn't mitigate the issues I described in this review. Sorry, Dr. Sheth, I won't be returning, but others can make up their own minds regarding seeing you for your services. I relied on the many positive reviews when choosing to see you and it still didn't help. read more

If your feet need a nice pair of orthotics, then Dr Sheth is the doctor for you. For me, my left foot can't be cured by orthotics. I think I need some surgery, and before that I need an MRI. But Dr Sheth only focused on her orthotics, so I am not if she's the right doctor for me. Actually seeing her raises question about podiatrists, exactly what kind of foot diseases they can cure? I don't think they are surgeons. Are they only good for giving advice on how to walk and exercise, and prescribe orthotics? They graduates from a different healthcare system. I need to do more study. read more

I wanted to talk to her about some bad pain in the side of my foot, and also a suspicion that my toenails were becoming ingrown because the nails on my big toes would ache at night. She completely ignored my complaint of foot pain and I got a hard sell on burning off my nail beds for the ingrown nails, even though I told her they weren't bad and I would like to first try thinning the nails from the top to see if they would uncurl on their own, as I had seen a few reputable studies done where this worked. I caved. I had the procedure elsewhere many years before and it wasn't that bad, so okay. And now my toenails are very, very, narrow and completely mutilated and since it has been two years, I know they will never, never look or feel normal again. They now require constant sanding to keep the flesh from creeping over the tiny nails and hurting. I used to wear sandals everyday, and keep my nails polished and colorful, but never again. I wear closed shoes to anything important and do not polish the nails in hopes it will blend in when I do wear my toes out. Someday I will have someone else just take out what is left of the nails and replace them with tattoos. As far as the actual foot pain, it wasn't addressed at all the first visit. I scheduled another visit, during which ONE foot was x-rayed, not both to compare the good side to the bad. She never gave me the results of that image, if she ever looked, because she molded very expensive orthotics that day, with my foot held in the air in a strange position, and sent me on my way. The orthotics caused more pain, not less, and she never explored what the problem even was in the first place. Luckily, I sprained the ankle on that side very badly and didn't walk on that foot for a few months to heal the ankle, and the foot healed during that rest. She is very nice and pleasant to talk to, but she doesn't actually listen and only sells stuff she can do quickly and make money from without actually helping. read more

I found Dr. Sheth to be an excellent doctor and podiatrist. She's friendly, chatty, a good listener and very instructional, which I like. In addition to treating my feet troubles, she shares her knowledge of the malady and instructs me on what to do and what not to do. Since starting treatment I have followed her directions and my feet/toes are doing much better now. with a previous podiatrist I missed that proactive conversational and teaching element in office visits. Dr. Sheth really cares about her patients. In the past few years, healthcare has been a tough business to be a doctor in- insurance monitizes everything and you really lose that personal touch. She thinks about her patients and what the best course of action for them is. Of course she tries non-surgical options first because it's the safest path to pursue before cutting into someone. I also really appreciate how she listens and is a problem solver. I've been going to her for what feels like forever (in reality, probably 15 years), and she has consistently helped me resolve my issues- ranging from orthotics to ingrowns, etc. I think reviewing doctors is a very weird concept because they know medically what's going on with their patients and we sometimes don't- so when someone posts that they need surgery, perhaps there's a reason why you don't need it but doctors can't post publicly to answer your question- that would violate HIPAA. Please make up your own mind. But at least I would highly recommend Dr. Sheth to anyone. read more

Met dr sheth this morning. Very easy to talk to and professional at the same time. I felt very at ease with her even while she was digging at my painful callus with a scalpel. She explained the condition of my feet and suggested products to use to improve the dryness I was having. She was also knowledgeable about running shoes and recommended a brand that will fit my feet better than what I was wearing. So far, my experience with Dr. Sheth has been great! I have known Dr. Sheth for a years and she is the top doctor I have ever met. She is knowledgeable and current in her field, in my case she recommended, for now, orthopedics insoles instead of surgery. Her advise is "whole" and the decision is left completely to the informed patient, she does not rush the patient but is very clear on what the options are. I have never felt rushed under her care or in her office. A kind of comprehensive interactions with the patient that is very seldom encounter these days. She saw me today to remove a shard of glass from my foot, very gently she anesthetized and swiftly removed it , and follow to explain clearly what the follow up will be. Her kindness and care for the patient is constantly evident, she makes even the visit like this a very satisfying experience. I wish more Doctors would be like her. read more

Dr. Sheth correctly diagnosed a compression fracture in my ankle after two other doctors failed to do so. I had walked on a painful broken ankle for four months prior to seeing Dr. Sheth. During my first visit Dr. Sheth listened to what I said - really listened. She did a thorough exam and told me that together we were going to figure out the problem and fix it. I left her office relieved and convinced for the first time in my sore ankle saga that it was fixable. I am now pain free thanks to Dr. Sheth. If I could rate her a hundred stars, I would. She is a first rate doctor, one with compassion and empathy who truly listens to her patients. Couple those attributes with her experience and diagnostic skills and you have an excellent doctor! Dr. Sheth has been treating my elderly mother who is diabetic and has had recurring wounds/sores on her feet. I cannot rate Dr.. Sheth high enough. For a number of years I've suffered with chronic foot pain, but was reluctant to visit a podiatrist as the thought of surgery terrified me. When the discomfort started to impact my quality of life - I knew I had to address my problem. I had severe bunions on both feet and the procedure to correct them was complicated; a bunionectomy with a fusion of a joint in the mid foot. After meeting with Dr. Ami Sheth, I was less apprehensive and fearful of surgery. She immediately put me at ease as she patiently explained the procedures and enabled me to ask many questions. Although I was still very nervous to undergo two surgeries, I knew I was in good hands. Both procedures, done at separate times were a huge success. My ability to do normal activities such as walking, running, and biking has greatly improved since there is no longer pain in my big toe joints.
