We boarded the boat at 5:30am and departed exactly at 6am after they checked all of our fishing licenses (so make sure you buy yours online prior to the trip). The captain and deck hands were extremely patient and non-judgmental. The bait was constantly replaced and the deck hands always helped if the hooks got tangled. We were allowed to bring our small Yeti with breakfast and drinks. There is a restroom in the boat which is kept clean and accessible. I caught a large striped bass in which I was able to get cleaned and cut to take home! The views of the city were beautiful and the surrounding areas like Alcatraz and Angel Island. It was very easy to communicate with the owner, Eliot of Compass Rose Yacht Charter. He was willing to adjust the time of departure to our needs and it turned out perfect! Instructions were clear on where to park and our meeting place. We were greeted at the gate by a crew member and directed to the Voyager. The yacht is comfortable and clean and the cabin is spacious enough for our group of about twenty people. Captain Richard was very professional and the crew was friendly and helpful. There is a bar with coffee, tea, water and soft drinks. When we arrived at the designated scattering spot, the crew passed out flower petals to mark the site. Cheryl directed us where and how to scatter the ashes. We also brought a flower reef (created with paper tape), that was also tossed at the spot. The boat slowly circled the site several times, allowing us time for our final thoughts. Total time of our journey was about 1.5 hours, enough time for any speakers or formalities. The price was very reasonable, compared to other, more organized options. My friends and family all agreed and we highly recommend Compass Rose Yacht Charters.

Since around 2017 I've been a Dawn fan. I have booked my early birthday crab combos with him. I tell everyone about them! I have been on other boats before but none has a better crew!!! This past trip was for Salmon and it started out rough, I forgot our boots, it started out choppy so my mom stayed inside ( we did not want to risk a fall for her). The captain got us into calmer water and into some schools of Salmon. Chef Mark was my biggest hype man, John helped me get rigged up( Salmon set up is heavy!!! But they will help you)! Now once I had a fish on Mason had to hold the rod so I could reel!!!! Ive never need help getting fish to the boat but boy these fish were heavy and fighting. Im just talking now because I had such a good time. Sore but happy. Remember like all fishing its fishing not catching. Not all trips end in success but they do everything they can to help you have a fun and successful trip. It was also a wonderful whale watching day!

It would have been a perfect day If i would have caught the fish limit but I didnt catch nothing but I still left with 2 fish. The Tuesday before our charter, I confirmed with both Brent and his employee. We were supposed to show up to Fisherman's Wharf pier at 6:30am. At 6am, I texted his employee to tell him we were running 10 minutes late. That employee had already left with a different crew, Brent had double-booked our charter despite confirming just four days earlier. He didn't have any other employees that would come in, so our charter was cancelled. We obviously wouldn't recommend SF Boat and Captain Brent. He's not reliable for group events.

My friends and family have enjoyed several experiences with S.F. boat support including an…read moreimpromptu one hour bay cruise and a full day of crabbing and fishing. Captain Jarrod and Captain Brent always show us a great time. The bay tour included some amazing views and interesting history tidbits while we sipped a beer and enjoyed the bay breeze. The crab/fishing trip was an especially cool experience. We did a family trip and chartered the boat for the day. We each got to try pulling in a crab pot, pulling the crabs out, and throwing the pots back in the water. After we checked and replaced all of the crab pots we did some fishing for rockfish. We had a couple bites, but didn't catch too many fish. However, we did all hit the limit on crab, which I believe is 10 each. We had so much crab that we didn't even know what to do with it! (Read: crab cakes for DAYS ) Overall, we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our fill of fresh crab. We can't wait to do it again!

I've been out twice with the Sundance to catch salmon outside the bay. The boat leaves at 5:30…read moresharp and stays out until the limit of 2*6 was caught each time. The first time we were out 10 hours, the second about 5. The boat takes six fishermen and a crew of two. Captain CJ knows his stuff. Took us through 10ft swells outside the gate (the potato patch they call it) with the boat pitching nearly 90 degrees. Quite the ride on a rough day. All gear and bait are included and two 2lb sinkers. The sinkers drop when you hook the fish, and cost $7 each when you need more So I used 8 and paid $42 extra for six. No problem, but something to be prepared for. The mate and captain keep the rods baited and the boat trolling. Everyone gets great action. One guy pulled in a 24 lb salmon. Last trip I caught three keepers and two small ones we tossed back. Guys also caught five good sized mackerels also, which weren't counted as part of the 12 limit, so we wound up with three each. Everyone gets to pick their best two if they're over the limit and unlucky guys split the rest. The mate will fillet anything and you can keep any of it you want. Get a one-day fishing license for $17 at a bait shop before you go. $250 for the day. Parking passes inside at the business at the end of the road, the Sundance is on the second dock from the end. A great way to spend a day. Call months in advance - they book up fast. There's catch counts on the web page so you can see all the boats and how they're doing.
