This place is beautiful! The bathroom is really nice, marble design, lots of towels, and the beds are incredibly comfortable! This is a perfect place for families. The AC is connected high up on the wall but controlled but a thermostat that is easy to access for adults. Our 18 month old likes to play with buttons so we are thrilled that it was positioned like this. The pillow and blankets are nice, very soft. The staff are very accommodating and welcoming. We have never been to Point Pleasant before this trip but this will be our go-to vacation spot and go-to motel from now on. I'm so glad that we booked an extra night here. It's really beautiful, calm, and convenient location. We have a view of the lake from our bedroom window and you can see the boardwalk rides on the other side of the water. Awful experience. The amenities were extremely disappointing--there was no shampoo or conditioner provided, and the pool was advertised as heated but was anything but. The rooms looked like they hadn't been properly cleaned or updated in decades. Everything felt worn, neglected, and in desperate need of maintenance. As for being "family-friendly," I'm not sure what that means in this case, because the entire property feels run-down and poorly managed. For the price, the condition of the hotel is unacceptable. I have been staying at the Amethyst Motel for the past five years because the location is great. Unfortunately, after my most recent stay, I will not be returning. The motel charges guests for parking, so when we returned late that evening, we expected to have a place to park. Instead, another guest had parked across two spaces, and several other spots were blocked off with cones, leaving us with nowhere to park. We moved one of the cones and called the "adult supervisor," John, using the phone number that was posted on a notice by the pool. The conversation was shocking. John immediately became angry, told me not to move the "fing" cones, and repeatedly questioned why I was "fing" calling him. He then told me to ring the front desk. When I went to the office, which I had assumed was closed based on previous stays, John was already on the phone with the front desk. I asked who John was and was told that he is the owner. I want to point out that the young woman working the front desk was incredibly kind, professional, and apologetic throughout the entire interaction. She even asked how I had gotten John's number, and I showed her the notice that the motel had posted by the pool. John, if you don't want guests calling you, don't post your phone number where they can find it when they need assistance. After being spoken to in such a disrespectful and unprofessional manner, I will never spend another dollar at this motel. We booked our stay at The Amethyst Beach Motel through Booking.com and unfortunately learned upon arrival that the payment made online was only a deposit, not the full cost. Neither the site nor the hotel made this clear ahead of time, which was definitely inconvenient and frustrating. The staff experience was mixed. When we asked questions, the woman at the desk often seemed rushed and a little annoyed. We also had to call multiple times for towels, only to be told later by the cleaning crew that the owner was upset with us for not waiting until housekeeping came by, which felt unprofessional. The complimentary breakfast was very limited mainly small pieces of muffins, plus coffee and tea so don't expect much variety. As for the room itself, while it was clean and came with a small flat-screen TV, the lighting was terrible and the outlets were placed high up on the walls, which made them awkward and inconvenient to use. On the positive side, the location is excellent, just two blocks from the boardwalk. The motel also has a nice pool area with tables where families often gather, which was a plus. Overall, it's a clean and conveniently located place to stay, but the service, amenities, and room setup could definitely be improved. read more

Had a terrible experience. Was given the wrong room. They attempted to fix our mistake while blaming it on us that their website gives false advertising. We booked a room that slept 6. Was given one singular bed. They attempted to give us another room which had two beds. We nicely explained that we booked a room that slept 6. And we have five people that need a place to sleep. The room that they gave us after their initial mistake. She offered a blow up mattress. Which is ridiculous because there was no room to put said blow up mattress. Then we were moved to another room after paying another 60 dollars. This room was in terrible condition. Toilet was half broken, No hot water, And basically all the furniture had graffiti on it. We were told by some blonde older lady which i assume was the owner that she didn't know the wifi. When we were checking out we had asked again she pointed to the wifi sign and she said she didn't know if it worked. Incredibly disappointed in this motel. Had a great overnight stay for a mini weekend getaway with a friend. Perfect distance from Jenkinson's boardwalk and bars. More private area near a small lake with a cute view. They even had complimentary coffee and muffins in the morning! Only issue we had was with the shower. It was a bit difficult to get the shower head to work at all. A few updates are needed but we had a fabulous stay for the price ! Will definitely be back. read more

We chose Amethyst because my fiance and I met next door and have spent every year after at amethyst for my bday weekend. Now , if you are looking for the Ritz Carlton ..this is not it. If you are lookimg for a beach motel with no frills rooms but still clean, spacious and comfy, a place where the staff is accomodating, friendly, beyond helpful , amazing location to boardwalk, awesome clean pool right outside your door and a continental breakfast ...a place where you become family w the staff..then this will be your go to beach motel ! The Amethyst also opened a beautifully renovated rentable party room at the hotel that we were first to use ! we utilized it for our welcome dinner for out of town guests , complete w bar, tables, patio access, fridge ,ice and a gorgeous in wall divider fish tank . I booked a night in a $59.00 economy first floor room with 2 queen beds for a late November stay. The day before checkin, I called to confirm my reservation. The man I spoke with suggested I upgrade for $20 more to a deluxe room with a "cathedral ceiling." I told him I wanted a first floor room and he said that would be fine, so I agreed to the upgrade. When I checked in, I was charged for the $79 room, then put into a first floor room with two queen beds and a low ceiling. I went back to the desk to check whether I had been put into the wrong room. The woman at the desk said that the deluxe rooms with cathedral ceilings are all on the second floor. I told her about the conversation I'd had with the man the day before and she didn't seem to understand what he had told me, and didn't seem to care. I think the suggestion to upgrade was a bait and switch tactic to confuse me, which it did. Beware of this place! When we checked in, there was a piece of food or possibly skin or mucus, with a hair stuck to it, dried in the sink. Also, the room was very cold with no way to turn up the heat. Even though it was a double queen room, there was only one chair. The room was lacking in convenient working electrical outlets. When I tried to contact the front desk, the phone wasn't working. Neither was the television. We had no desire to have any more conversations with the staff, though, so we played music from one of our devices instead of watching TV, and got out of there the next day. read more

I would have given it zero stars if an option- We booked an efficiency for the 2 of us over night- thinking we would enjoy the space- have snacks hang out between pool and beach /boardwalk time. But the window was screenless- so we took a chance leaving it opened all night- who knew what would crawl in- we would have died from the stench if we didn't have the fresh humid air flowing in. I wanted to sleep in my car but my friend said take a Xanex - you'll be fine. I wasn't . I was up all night. It was a very disappointing and terrible stay. Came here for Memorial Day weekend. The motel itself was definitely in need of a major renovation. The bathrooms were old and dated. The beds were ok on terms of being comfortable. It's slim pickings in terms of amenities. I couldn't get wifi to work, they give you the smallest bar of soap and the towels are pretty small. The only really strong plus is that they give you free bagels in the morning which is great from a long night of partying and the location is awesome because you can walk to the boardwalk. read more

Worst place I ever stayed in my entire life. The owners are horrible people I went there for a bachelorette party this weekend with three girlfriends our one friend booked a room. It was a double queen room. On the second day staying there The owner screamed at my girlfriend who booked a room online saying that five people stayed there when in reality it was four of us. They targeted us on our way to dinner and screamed and cursed at us saying that we owed more money when my friend in reality just paid $900 for that room online. To avoid confrontation she told them to charge the card the first person walked away to go tell the other guy who then chased us down threatening to call the cops on us that were trespassing. And forced all four of us to go to the front and pay right now and give them our identification cards. The male who took our information continue to scream back-and-forth with my girlfriend who booked our room and then screamed at the bride who was supposed to be enjoying her weekend but is now terrified. Had any of our husbands been there I guarantee you we would not have been treated like this. Everybody was so uncomfortable to go back to the room. I ended up calling my husband to pick me up last night he had to drag my baby and young child out because we actually feared for our safety. As we were leaving the owner was screaming at another guest and the cops showed up. If you want to actual enjoy your stay don't stay at this place 1 it's not worth the money the rooms are small and disgusting and definitely not cleaned well 2 they will treat you like trash and threaten to kick you out after you book and pay all that money just to get more money out of you. What do you do in a situation where you don't have a car and you already paid $900 to stay in that room. I chose Amethyst because of proximity to the boardwalk, where we would be attending a couple of VIP parties. Room was outdated at best, in horrible condition, and felt dirty. Wasn't quite sure how I was going to make it through the night, but it was freezing out and I had no intention of going further out of my way. Wrong choice. We enjoyed ourselves, had a few drinks and came back around midnight. Walking down Arnold Avenue, we were accosted by a female in her 20's. She was with a group of 5 other males and females, but she approached us alone, stating she was looking to help us back to the hotel. She continued to follow us after we repeatedly told her we were fine, and tried to push her way into the room and steal my pocketbook off my shoulder. I held on to it, and we both yelled at her. She took off. I did not call the police, as there was no actual crime to report, and I just wanted to go to sleep so I could wake up and get out of there. I reported it to the hotel manager in the morning, and she did not take it seriously at all. Not our usual Pt Pleasant hotel but we needed one quick night for an early morning event on the boardwalk. We were unsatisfied with many things. No hair dryer in room or to borrow. Phone in room didn't work to call office. Light in room was broken. AC wasn't on at first so room was hot and stuffy. Inside the AC vent was mold. Extension cord hanging from outlet in wall. Difficult to get extra pillows. The worst was when we brought our concerns to a manager while checking out, he had a terrible attitude, was very dismissive and did not care one bit. The motel was old, outdated and dirty. We found centipedes in the tub two out of three days we were there. The staff wasn't overly friendly and it is way overpriced even though we booked it through booking.com. Some of the motel guests were "questionable". It was the worst hotel/motel we've ever stayed at and I can say that we won't be back. On one of the mornings the motel had a sign out on the patio that said "no swimming, no noise, no exceptions". I would come back to this place if they renovated. When we arrived it was okay for the price. It's 2 blocks from the beach and I figured it was perfect since the price was so cheap. The rooms are outdated, falling apart, mold in the bathrooms, carpet wasn't even vacuumed and I just felt dirty even sitting in the room. However I was trying to enjoy it and not be picky so I continued to stay. I book this place for a wedding that WAS to take place this past weekend. Do to COVID the wedding like most was cancelled . I called and left a message. July 2 2020 I emailed them with the reference numbers of the 3/4 rooms to cancel . I HAVE THE EMAIL. I then called spoke to a women, told her she said no problem, yes reservations will be cancelled. I normally shudder at the thought of a motel, but the Amethyst Beach Motel was pretty solid. My group reserved room 139 which was a two-bedroom suite that had a living room, dining room, kitchen and one bathroom. One of my friends had been in this room a few years back and said it used to have two bathrooms. The suite next-door had been converted into an office and one of the bathrooms had been limited from room 139. Aside from being able to legitimately house 8+ people in the suite and having one bathroom, the accommodations were decent. The entire suite was very dated with old TVs and fixtures but it was clean and comfortable. All rooms also include a complimentary bagel, pastry and coffee breakfast in the pool area. Discount beach badges are available at the front desk. They also have a ton of local brochures and a good knowledge of the area. The hotel is only a few blocks off the beach and ideal for families and partiers alike. Again it's nothing fancy but it's solid. read more

Had to clean our own rooms maids never came to clean our room. They only cleaned the ones that people checked out of another guest that stayed there said the same thing. They didn't even freshen it up. Had to make our own beds so did my family members that stayed in the other rooms. Maybe the housekeepers should stay off there phones seen them talking on there phones and texting. The landscape you see in photos are false. The wooden picnic tables are not there. The lounge chairs are fixed with board walk wood so uncomfortable had to go and buy a chair to sit in sun. It felt like I actually laid on the board walk when I sat in there lounge chairs Had to pay 40 dollars more a night to park wasn't included in price didn't let booking.com know about it so the price wasn't accurate. The girl said I would get a voucher so it would be waved when we arrived for parking all we got was charged. They have a lot that they let people from other hotels park there when they go to the board walk they charge 50 a pop. All they cared about there parking business. We where not guaranteed a space when we left to go to dinner cause it was filling up with people from other hotels. My niece had to leave them the keys so when someone left then they had a space for her she didn't get her keys back until the next day at 9am when someone came in. Garbage near pool emptied every other day over flowing ants all over pool area from garbage. No one there at night so make sure nothing happens like a toilet bowl breaking cause your screwed. Young adults had a pool party kept us up until 3am girls swimming nude . Told front desk next morning I was told to call cops if it happens again. Now I have to be security at these outrageous prices. Hotdog bun swimming in water near filter yum. Photo of bagels yea right false advertisement to get you to book with them. The place is run down. All they want is your money. I highly recommend the manor motel or white sands very nice and clean . Theresa is a nice woman she works there and tries her best. I should of looked up the reviews before I booked here there are more complaints on this motel than good. Received two separate emails 1) with pending reservation and 2) confirmation with dates I requested payment. Stayed here while passing through and sorry I did. This place needs a serious overhaul since currently it's a dumpy beach motel with terrible rooms and hard uncomfortable beds. The place sits in a great location a block from the boardwalk and beach but too bad staying here is risky. The exterior is a dumpy run down building with a shabby courtyard and pool and a bad fountain in the middle. The rooms look like they are about to fall in on you with stained ceilings and run down bathrooms and kitchenettes. The outside decks are leaning so bad it could give way at anytime. Plus the prices of this place are outrageous for no reason except that it's close to the beach, plus they charge for parking and a resort fee of $26?? For what, stained bed sheets and ripped towels? A complete dump. The rooms are filthy, the desk staff is rude. After they screwed up our room reservation, they told us we'd be given an "upgrade" to a suite for one night. Got to the suite. Unfortunately, the only good was the location (near boardwalk) and friendly staff. I usually stay at the Pelican Point Motel (next door) but no vacancies. The parking was an extra $10 per night. They charge a resort fee of $13 per day for use of BBQ grill, wifi, bagels and discount beach passes. (although it is written on the website) it should be included . The place was very old and my room smelled musty. Had a lot of cable channels but, my TV remote kept breaking. The mini frig was blowing off heat. I was told by the handyman to defrost it . The bathroom mirror was stained and the frame of mirror was broken. The toilet was constantly running and would not flush. Only 1 outlet worked. They do give you some mini soap as far as amenities. No coffee pot in room but they offer coffee with the bagel in the am (that you pay for in the "Resort Fee:) There is a pool but did not look that clean. This is the first negative review I am writing. Sorry, but need to share with other travelers. I have stayed at many NJ shore Motels and this was the worst. My expectations are not that high. My main concern is cleanliness and secondly is wifi which did not work the 3 days I was here. Really disappointed because I spent over $530 for the 2 nights and it was not worth it at all. After this, around 1 in the morning, strange music started to play on the hotel speakers causing us to wake up. Then midway through the night, the toilets stopped working. I booked a girls weekend at the Amethyst beach motel, and we had a great time. I had a little bit of an issue with my reservation due to an issue with an employee, but Theresa was very helpful and very pleasant! Some tips: Bring your own shampoo, conditioner and beach towels. The room did not have a blow dryer, iron, or safe. The room had a frig, and microwave. You are only allotted 1 car per room. The beds were comfy, the ac was good, and the shower had excellent pressure and plenty of hot water. They also offer coffee, pastries and bagels in the morning. We didn't partake but might next time! They are 2 blocks from the boardwalk which was great, their pool area was also nice. The only negative we experienced was from some of the staff. Both days that we tried to relax at the pool there seemed to be an issue amongst some of the staff. The one day 2 staff members started fighting in the pool area about keys, it was not the ideal place for them to start screaming and cursing at each other. It also seems that some of the staff bring their children which I know we would have killed for as kids, but when you are trying to relax it's hard to when you have a strangers kid sitting on your lounge chair talking to you, the entire time. The boys were very cute but when your trying to get away from your own kids, it can get a little annoying! Lol The place isn't the Taj Mahal, but we felt the positives outweighed the negatives and would definitely stay here again. read more

Our room was mostly clean but desperately in need of an upgrade, including a stained, worn armchair, damaged furniture, rust in the tub and a barely functional shower head that was pulling away from the tile. It was only a short walk to the boardwalk, which was the only point in their favor. Given the amount of money we paid, there should have been more than one. When we checked in, we noticed that there was an issue with our reservation and the young lady told us that we needed to speak to the owner, who would be on duty in the morning. My SO went back in the morning and started the first step of a complete runaround from the management. We went back 3 times in total and at the end were told that while there was a booking error, we would have to go back to booking.com to deal with it. I'm not really sure why it took 3 visits to get to this conclusion. We also found out upon arriving that there was an additional resort fee for a continental breakfast, wifi (which kept kicking us off) and amenities. The final thing was the parking issue. We received a note under the door on Sunday morning saying that our vehicle would have to be out of the lot by 11 am to make way for incoming guests. When we went out to move our vehicles, public parking was filling up rapidly, and my family member was unable to get a spot. He went to speak to the woman who owned the hotel to ask if he could park his car in the motel lot for the day and was told it would cost $50. Apparently, our spots were not needed as much for incoming guests as much as extra income, as she was selling spots to the general public on the first nice Sunday at the shore in quite a long time. All in all, I could forgive a slighly shabby Shore hotel, because that's part of the experience. What I can't get past is what seems like a less-than-caring attitude on the part of the ownership of the motel. read more

Hotel was okay and location perfect pool nice but they definitely over charge for this place the rooms are like a $55-75 room. They try to over charge book on hotels.com or booking.com to get a cheaper price. Than manager tried to convince us to book through him for 255 a night plus tax ummm anyway we stay extra charge for the pool. And they close it at 8 pm even though check on Is at 4pm just weird. It's ok in a pinch like it was for us but beware. read more

We have been going there with two kids, one of whom has autism, for three years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The pool area is festive but the rooms right off the pool are quiet. The patio is filled with lounge chairs and plenty of sun or shade if you choose. Nice size heated pool. Can't beat the location unless you stay on the boardwalk and I'm too cheap, it's only two short blocks, just across the street from the public parking lot. Clean, the service is good amd friendly and the continental breakfast is definitely a plus. The wifi was hit or miss and could be improved but I've stayed in four star hotels for work that had wifi crap out. Looking forward to staying again next year. read more
