It seems I always see it in doctor's offices, dentist offices and in the lobby of hotels but nowhere else. The articles are generally short, dull and uninteresting about people and things that I have no ability to care about. A glossy cover and shiny, expensive photographs hide a dust bowl of information. No more wasting of time reading this fancy-looking publication for me no matter how bored I get waiting for my appointment to come. It will probably go belly-up soon anyway as it is hard to keep any local magazine going that doesn't allow 20 pages of escort ads in the back a la metro. San Jose is a great place to live and should just have something better. Don't cha think?

When I was living in Boston, my Mom bought me a subscription to Boston Magazine (a great mag) and to San Jose Magazine. Sadly, it's never been anywhere near as compelling. The problem isn't that San Jose Magazine isn't readable, the articles are OK, the photos tend to be really nice, and they tend to give at least some coverage to all the events that I give a care about. On the other hand, it's also a crappy selection of articles that hardly covers the way we in SJ live and work. It's targeted to a more upscale crowd, but that's not SJ and it's not what's interesting about the city. The presentation is pretty, but the content is not what it should be.

Fortunately, it's a spacious store with room for everyone. It's also nice that there is a dedicated parking lot in the back, again with enough parking for everyone. I went there looking for a specific Miffy keychain, but the Miffy goods were picked over pretty good and they didn't have it. Ended up leaving with two books, a journal, two chocolate bars, a reusable shopping bag, and a Miffy blind box. It was a pretty good shopping spree.

The back entrance is probably best because there's more parking in the back. There's cashiers at both doors too. Cafe is directly in the middle of the store with a few tables to work and hang out. They went through the prices & different options with us, very sincere and got to the point. I like that they are not rude or pushy like other magazines. Even the owners seemed very humble & nice, that's a first since a lot of business owners especially from a popular magazine are not really that laid back. I felt comfortable & confident that my Auntie was going to place her ad in the magazine. After getting the magazine her ad looked great! Definitely doing business with them again.

He ended up having to call someone on the phone located at the desk in order to offer a resolution... that person told him they wouldn't be able to help for another ten minutes.... at that point I simply offered to take another bottle of water. The worst part about this whole transaction... I had asked him just before he scanned my card if the water bottle was truly over $7 to which he responded "yep, sure is".

School kids use that sidewalk to walk to school and there are many cars on the roadway. It's wrong to block the sidewalk and make the kids walk in the street. I wish the students would go ahead and walk on my front garden area (not really a lawn), but they (unlike the Milpitas Post) respect people's property and do not do so.
