American Home Shield - Bad AC that's not cooling at all

American Home Shield

American Home Shield came highly recommended. After Sears left our area we transferred our…read morelong-standing home warranty to AHS and we haven't been sorry. Contractors are hard to find and our best ones seem to be contracted with them It's a great way to have a contractor prescreened for valid licensing and for the 3rd party liability, worker's compensation, general, and automobile insurance needed to protect our home ownership whenever we have someone working in our home. They make a frustrating process and a financial burden a little lighter for homeowners, especially for people on a fixed income.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE. I do not recommend American Home Shield to anyone. I've had multiple…read moreissues with them, and their customer service has been consistently unhelpful. First, my pipe leak claim was denied and I lost my $100 service fee with no real explanation. Then, when I needed an electrician, things somehow got even worse. I specifically arranged to take Monday, December 1st off work so I could be home for all scheduled repairs. I planned this well in advance. AHS assigned me to JC Electric, who later informed me they could not come on that date and told me to contact AHS to be reassigned. When I called AHS, they told me they needed verbal confirmation from JC Electric before assigning a new technician--but they couldn't reach them. I was essentially left with no solution. The next day, after another long hold, AHS finally reached JC Electric, who confirmed they could not service my home on December 1st. After all of that, I was told AHS still could not assign me another professional and that I had to work around the technician's schedule--not the other way around. How does that make sense when I am the paying customer? Their process is inconsistent, their policies contradict themselves, and their representatives keep you on hold endlessly with little to no resolution. This company has been nothing but a waste of time, money, and energy. Do not waste your money on American Home Shield. You're better off using Thumbtack or hiring reputable technicians directly.

We were very pleased with the home inspection and radon testing services that Greg offered us. As…read morefirst-time home buyers, my significant other and I wanted to not only find an honest home inspector, but also someone who's very thorough. There's so much to consider when buying a home (and especially an older home built in the 1950s), so having a detailed inspection report was extremely important to us! And he was able to email us said report later in the same day! Additionally, not only did he arrive on time, he also either took his shoes off at the door, or, slipped on shoe covers to keep our floors and carpet clean. Call us weird, but that's super-important to us! All-in-all, we're thankful that Greg took the time to answer our questions (even random ones, such as, "Where's the water main?" -- you'll want to know where this is and keep that area clear/easy to get to in case you need to shut the water off in an emergency!). He also gave us some tips on how to fix some of the (inevitable) problem areas with the house, including outside soil grading issues. We'll definitely be referring F2R to anyone looking for a quality home inspector and/or licensed radon measurement specialist! - Travis and Ashley
