The rest, not so much. At night noone answered Dad's call button. My largest concern is the diet. We have instructed them repeatedly on Dad's dietary restrictions, and still someone has to be there for every meal. They have an issue with the room assignments so that every meal comes to him with someone else's name on it. No idea how they think they can keep up with dietary needs of everyone. We've brought up our own fresh vegetables and fruit so that he has something healthy to eat each meal which has helped alot. His blood sugar is now normal. The last two nights theyve sent Dad to the hospital only to have the hospital return him the same night. Actually, this is the 7th day he's been there and they've sent him to the hospital 3 times. He is definitely in worse shape than when we checked him in. I read other comments on the 'speech therapy'. We had that and dementia screening, too. Something every day. He just wants to use a walker so he can go home. I'll post back. OK, so Dad passed today. He was old and his organs failed him. But. The remington folks ignored Dads DNR. Said it wasnt adequate. And my mom had to watch the Remington 'nurse' beat on Dads chest for 4 minutes until she got a heartbeat so that the ambulance drivers could take him to the hospital where he officially died. Sigh. Long story short. If youre healthy, this place can work for you. If you need nursing care, this nursing home lacks. Severely lacks.

Before visiting San Remo, I read through the online reviews and, to be honest, some of the negative reviews made me concerned. That's why I'm glad I actually went to see the place for myself. My experience was completely different from the impression some of those reviews give. I found San Remo to be welcoming, friendly and a genuinely lovely environment. The people I met were approachable and the atmosphere felt warm and comfortable. After seeing it for myself, I would absolutely consider bringing my mother here. I can only review what I personally experienced, but I would encourage anyone considering San Remo not to make their decision based solely on online reviews. Visit, meet the people and form your own opinion. I'm certainly glad I did. ps. tbhankyou James and the team

Wonderful Care at San Remo…read more I want to take a moment to recognize two amazing people at San Remo--Kim, the social worker, and Carmen, the Director of Nursing (DON). Kim has been absolutely wonderful. She is compassionate, caring, patient, and truly takes the time to listen. She makes you feel heard and respected, and you can tell that she genuinely cares about the residents and their families. Having someone like Kim available during a difficult time makes such a difference. Carmen is also an outstanding DON. Her leadership, professionalism, compassion, and dedication to the residents truly stand out. She is approachable, attentive, and demonstrates that she takes the responsibility of caring for residents seriously. Both Kim and Carmen have shown me that there are still people in healthcare who genuinely care about the people they serve. Their kindness and willingness to help do not go unnoticed. Thank you, Kim and Carmen, for everything you do. San Remo is blessed to have both of you!

The nurses and other staff members were attentive, kind, knowledgeable, and timely. Safety measures were enforced, and staff communicated promptly with family members if any concerns arose. There is a good variety of delicious meals, and the food is served promptly. There was also a nice variety of interesting activities (kudos to the activities director!), and a family feel there. I always felt welcome to ask questions or express concerns, and these were answered promptly. Walnut Place is located directly across the street from Presbyterian Hospital, so appointments with doctors have been very convenient. And although there was never a need for an emergency visit for us, we knew help was available in minutes if needed. I give Walnut Place "Five Stars," and am deeply grateful for the excellent care my sister-in-law has received there. Special thanks to Julie, Georgette, Beverly, and Christina! They had to be moved several times due to his issues but the staff was always caring and pleasant. I learned so much what these nurses had to endure daily, I have a new respect for what they do at Walnut Place. The head nurses communicated very honestly with me and my brother on what steps would be best for both of them. It is always hard to move your loved ones to a nursing facility from their home. But I truly feel that Walnut Place was the best place for them.

My dad was at "the resort" for 40+ days after breaking a hip & having surgery. We were told this is…read morethe place to go for rehab & this was true. The rehab team here is wonderful-Lo, RJ, Frank, Karen, Courtney, & especially Michael (who at times was my personal counselor and truly "got" my dad) were fabulous with him. You guys are amazing! Thank you! Nurses/CNAs who were so wonderful to my dad & took time to truly help him (he admittedly was not an easy patient) were Ava, Leah (contract), Julia (wounds), Juanita & Josh (asst DONs), Vincent & Peter.Thank you! Ray at the front desk is as sweet as she can be and so very helpful (hope your delivery goes well!) Auntranette (Sugar) was also quite helpful. Food was okay. The food staff is so very sweet and they try to accommodate as best as they can. The system for patients ordering their food is great-but only if someone tells you what the system is which we did not learn til after he had been there a week. Now for the not so positive - He was transported there from the hospital around 3p on a Friday & we quickly learned this must be the very worst time to admit-there was no one there to get him situated. I had asked for a different chair in his room and that was delivered right away. Also on our tour we had requested a corner room & that was available, but other than that they did not even seem ready for him to arrive despite having a heads up. We got no information about where things were or how to do things or anything about the place until the following Monday. Admit papers were not even signed until he was almost leaving. There are suggestions I have for this process to be made more smooth for future incoming patients & their families who are already experiencing some sort of trauma. Most of his meds did not arrive for 3 days. They actually "borrowed" from other patients Rx until his arrived. Most of the nurses there I did not trust (either I heard them say something/saw them do something with my dad or another patient that did not sit well) so I brought my own cot and spent most nights with him. When we toured, we were told that every person who worked there is an employee, not contracted, yet my dad had at least one contract nurse or CNA every single day he was there. Some of those were really sweet, but most all nurses just seemed overworked and less than happy to be there, some taking that out on patients with sharp words or ignoring them and their needs completely. It is not surprising that we saw such turnover in the 40+ days he was there. The nurses do not feel supported & they are WAY understaffed. When we brought this to the attention of the Exec Dir, he told us that they were actually "over"staffed according to some statistic. All I know is call lights were on for a super long time before help came. It seems the staff often wanted US to tell them what to give the patient. That made no sense to me at all. A patient is there for expertise and medical care. Why would you ask ME what drugs he should take for pain, etc.? Make suggestions, give options with potential side effects then let me choose rather than telling me to research & let you know. And not sure why docs show up at 5-6a when patients are trying to sleep. Even bloodwork and X-rays were taken in the 2-3am range at times. So strange to wake people up for that. It appeared to me there is only one sweet lady & one older gentleman who do all the cleaning so how can it be expected that they would be able to do so much. It was evident that cleanliness is not this facililty's priority and the smell really was just almost too much for me some days. We ended up bringing in deodorizing gels for my dad's room & kept spray handy. Patient cleanliness was not a priority either. More than once I saw an elderly patient sleeping in his wheelchair by the nursing station-RIGHT IN FRONT of them-and he was sitting in urine that had also made its way into a puddle on the floor. I mentioned it to them & he sat there for at least an hour more before anyone helped him. With the exception of Sugar, the admin team were rarely available whether it be for a needed report for insurance or just a simple question regarding process and care. Communication between the teams & between the docs & nursing staff was beyond horrible. Clearly the left hand never knew what the right hand was doing and I, the patient's daughter, would fill everyone in as they came into his room (med changes, therapies, updates, even the reason he was there in the first place!) The only reason I feel I can leave as good as 3 stars is because of the rehab team. No complaints at all there. But the nursing.....I believe most here have a heart to help people but they are just so incredibly understaffed, many of the nurses have become cold toward patients and it showed. Sadly, I cannot recommend this place unless it is for outpatient rehab. I've seen the pat reply to some of these complaints. No need to reply-just do better for your patients.

Team had no coordination of his day to day needs. The social worker never contacted us with his plan of care or progress. When we initiated contact, he did not follow through with insuring proper care was given. We met with the Healthcare Resort leadership. They had little information about my parent as their excuse was that we just started. I am concerned for other patients. This facility has a severe quality of care issues. My family of which 4 of us are either clinicians or work for CMS were shocked at patient treatment. To reiterate another persons comment, the patient floors smell horrible and there are constant call buttons going off while staff scrolling on their phone. We moved my parent to another facility which was a total 180. I am ashamed that providers like this exist for patients that needs these critical service to maintain a decent quality of life and care.
