Around 9 months currently, with my son advancing to yellow, then orange and now purple. The format of the white-red kids class: Bow in Mention of life skill they are focusing on (confidence, leadership, etc) Quick warmup Learn or review a specific skill or self defense skill Story that relates to the life skill of the week ( Kata practice (everyone is learning a nunchuck kata which is really cool to see). Sometimes this is only for the advanced/black belt leadership students but they nunchucks for everyone recently. Announcements Bow out The class moves quickly which is great for my son, it keeps him really engaged. Some other classes we tried had a really long warm up which was hard for him to engage in. Also, Action has at least two instructors on the Zoom if not more. If the class is hybrid (online and in person) there are instructors in studio who demonstrate for both the zoom and in class students. There are also a set of instructors that are remote and focus on the Zoom students. For the zoom students they will spotlight different kids so that the instructors can give comments and also give the kids some confidence (my son tries his best when he's spotlighted!). Action seems to also be tweaking this recipe based on feedback, I think separating the remote students from the in person so each group has more focus from the instructors. The focus on life skills like motivation, confidence, helping your family, etc is really great for kids, it's a nice well rounded approach and also breaks up the time into different chunks. We are in California, so the timing is a bit difficult since the classes range from 1pm pacific to 335 pacific pacific depending on the weekday. Our current remote school schedule ends synchronous instruction around 2pm so we are currently able to attend 3 classes a week. My son really enjoys Action Karate and I've seen good changes in him over the past 9 months

On behalf (and as an extension) of the Ramsdell Family, I have to give Mr. Brenner and Mr. McQuade…read morethe biggest high five and Bao Quan. As a fellow educator, I'm not whistling Dixie when I say these gents are the real deal. They mastered a huge class of kiddos (seemed to be about 40-50 wee ones), all of whom were rapt with attention and respect. They knew each individual student, addressed them by name, and paired them well for exercises. They obviously had a clear lesson plan going into the class, and executed it seamlessly. Each student was motivated to work diligently for their own advancement, and you could tell that they all wanted to make their instructors proud. They also nailed the more intimate adult class that followed, with the help of one super awesome playlist of tunes. They are also both very personable gents. Mr. Brenner came up to me the moment he saw me. He was welcoming, made direct eye contact, offered a firm hand shake, and was sincere. Mr. McQuade is cool, calm, and collected. Friendly chap. And both even made the time to come to my niece's show that afternoon. Lastly, I was blessed to witness a Belt Ceremony, which happened to be for a rather shy student. Mr. McQuade was nurturing and encouraging as he helped the young man recite their motto, and everyone - students and parents alike - ushered the lad into his White Belt stage in supportive, celebratory cheering. It really doesn't get better than this welcoming, warm, encouraging school offering quality education and self-discipline. Any age and body type are welcome, without judgment. Sign up now!

Mixed feelings about this location…read more I think the best two things about this location is its Women's Only workout area, and the bathrooms. The equipment is nice and the space is clean. It's nice that the women get their own private section (win for the girlies), and the bathrooms are awesome. Full doors you can close and lock. God do I hate stalls, and urinals, sorry but standing next to another dude kind of ruins the vibe. I think that Edge is definitely an upgrade compared to some of its competitors. I'd say this location is a good middle ground gym. The staff are very young and that's great and all, but don't expect a high tier level of professionalism. Imagine if a frat house started a gym and their dads had a crap ton of money. That's basically Edge.

All I am going to say is this: Had it not been for the Cherry Hill location, I would have cancelled…read moremy membership during week 1. I'm not even going to bother to write every single thing that I observed amongst certain members of the management team, because I am pretty sure they will be terminated. And from the looks of things, their fragile and immature egos, NEED their job; Karmic debt will deal with them. You are NEVER, while employed with an establishment, allowed to allow your personal beliefs and feelings to get in the way of your job duties. Aaron, you and your GM should be working at McDonalds. The both of you will blend into that work environment much better. They will know exactly what I am talking about. But I will expect them to have each other's backs and act clueless when they are addressed with this review. The sad part about this is: I will never step foot in that location again. I am less than 10 mins away and I would much rather drive my a$$ down to Cherry Hill, where the staff and management are MUCH better...and besides, I blend in. It is a shame what this planet has become. One thing about me, I spend intentionally. I NEVER give money to establishments who have poor customer service. ESPECIALLY when they allegedly represent senior management. I dont know if it's because my lady looks better than theirs or what...but what I am certain about is that Aaron has demonstrated poor leadership qualities. And if that truly is the GM of that location, (yeah, that other guy?) that location will always have lower numbers. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the size of the town. I have observed them both..they have no idea who they are dealing with. I would rather get lost in the "zoo" at Cherry Hill, than workout in that place and toxic environment. I just feel sorry for all the other employees there who are great. The location has two stars because of a wonderful employee who checked in my lady as a guest yesterday; she was mature, genuine and polite. Other than that, I would highly recommend for the rest to act their age and not their shoe size. Shame, shame, shame on those little boys. Smh. Other than the obvious, the equipment they have are good to go, and a huge selling point is the Women Only gym. All gyms should really consider implementing this, because seems like folks are more idiotic with each passing hour. This review is specifically customer-service based and for Aaron and his GM; dont call our phones either. Best of luck to the rest of the staff.
