Surprisingly well stocked for a middle of nowhere gas station. Hot food stuffs, ice and firewood…read morenot overpriced, all the snacks you could want, even some quasi healthy prepackaged choices. Beer, wine, hard liquor too, prices kinda on point for anchorage, maybe 50 cents more. Not too shabby other than the bathroom is kinda gross.

I try my best to avoid this gas station at all cost and I'm a local. I have had multiple encounters…read morewith rude employees. I have been told "you done NEED propane, like you need food and water." All because I said I need propane, as in to refill a tank. Last night was the last straw! See below. I went up to the Talkeetna Spur to the hardware store for a fireplace gasket. While up that way I was going to get propane at Tesoro, a gas station I hate to begin with(multiple encounters with rude employees). Anyways I pull up to Tesoro and tell the boys to go tell the staff we need propane. The boys do just that and then come back to tell me they "don't fill tanks past -10°F, I look at the temp on my car it says -9°F. I took a photo with my phone, the boys get in the car and I go into the store. I walk in and say I was told you don't pump past -10°, well it's -9° and show them. Some old crusty looking scarecrow of a lady says it's his fault and points to a fat balding man cleaning the soda counter. Then some fat woman with eyes that went like this with glasses butted in. Said she would go tell him. I asked the scarecrow, "can I exchange my yank, she said "yes." Then the scarecrow lady said "I just don't understand why people have to come in so late to get propane, why can't they come in during the day when it's warm!" Keep in mind it's 5:30 ish... I said "maybe because people just got off work and the sun in down in the winter when they get off work." Then she said "well I guess you have never worked in the cold have you.{here is where the white noise kicked in and I was pissed} You just don't know how hard it is to turn the dial!" I looked at her and said you know what ill go else were, and left. Okay earlier today when the sun was up and "warmer" it was -28°F. My eleven year old children work harder this this old hag of a woman! We ended up driving all the way to Huston to get the tank exchanged. I even asked there at Three Bears if we could get the tank filled but they stop filling at -15°(it was -18°), they said sorry for the inconvenience at least three times to me. I must have had "I'm pissed" written across my face.
