While I have nothing "Bad" or "Negative" to say about this hotel, I do want to point out some…read morethings that have been really frustrating / aggravating for me. In addition, I will also point out some of the not so frustrating / aggravating things about this place. Overall, I think it is a good place, but some things really need to be addressed. I have stayed at this hotel a total of five times now. The first two times were over the top great. However; the last three times is where the frustration / aggravation has come into play. Let's start with three visits ago. I made my reservation for my stay about 6 weeks in advance. I called the Hotel directly, spoke with on duty staff, who were very friendly and helpful. No issues arose, the reservation was made quickly and I felt like all was set. Well I arrived to the hotel on my scheduled date to be told that no reservation was made under my name. Finally (After about 5-6 minutes) a reservation was found. However, not in my name, although my phone number was attached to the name. It became clear that when the reservation was put in, it was messed up somehow. Okay so no big deal, things happen. I got checked in and all was fine. Now two visits ago. Again, I made the reservation well in advance with no issues on the phone. Again, staff was very friendly and helpful. Well again, I arrived on the scheduled date and again, they could not find my reservation. Found me in the system but it was my previous visit. So, with no reservation (According to their system) they just checked me in as a new guest just arriving, thankfully they had vacancies. The room was clean, but did notice that the remote on the TV had dead batteries, could not change the channel. Kind of no biggie as I only use the TV for background noise. So, I just manually turned it on and let it be. So now here we are for my most recent visit. SAME EXACT ISSUE!! I arrive and they have no clue who I am. They tell me no reservation was ever made, when in fact a reservation was made. 8 whole weeks (2 months) in advance. I even had my confirmation # this time. Even with that they could not find it!!! They look and look and insist there is no reservation in the system for me. Well here we go again. So, they end up checking me in as a new guest. I am happy to get a room but I am really irritated by this point. I head off to my room and get all set up. Well, unfortunately the frustration / aggravation does not end there this time. The room was clean, but did notice when I picked up the phone to call front desk that the phone was dead. I checked the cord to the wall, it was connected but nothing. Well who uses the phone anyway these days I thought, so I just ended up going down to the desk to ask my question. So, it gets dark, settling in for the night, when suddenly there is a group (4-5 people) standing outside of my door laughing and talking loudly. I though well can't last long, well I was wrong, a whole hour later they are still out there, now there are kids running and screaming in the hallway outside of my room. Well cannot call front desk as the phone don't work. So, I opened the door and asked them politely to keep it down. I got a look of disgust but they cleared the area. Slept through the night, all was good. Here we are at the next day. I leave the hotel, go do all my running around that I needed to do. Come back to the room, my key card will not work?? I try and try, it just won't work, so I got to front desk, they reprogram it, it works. I was there for 6 days in total, I had to get it reprogrammed EVERYDAY I was there. Come to find out on the last day, they looked it up and said it keeps happening because I was only supposed to be there one night and the card kept shutting off because the system thinks I am checked out. #1, why did they have it that I was only there for a night when I informed then upon check in it would be 6 days? Secondly why did it take until the 6th day for them to figure this out? Could they have not looked into this at least the 2nd day that this happened? Despite this all I can say I like the hotel. These things really just need to be dealt with as it is extremely frustrating. I don't want to have to deal with all of these issues every time I need to be in the area. In closing, I will point out that there are great / positive things about tis hotel as well. Those are as follows: 1. Price. Best priced hotel I could find there in Salem. 2. Clean. Although the place is dated, it does seem to be pretty clean. 3. Friendly staff. They are professional and always try to help with any situation that arises. I hope that Managers of this hotel can see this and try to figure out some of those issues. I do like staying here but I cannot deal with these frustrating factors. It is for sure worth it for me to pay a little more to say elsewhere, where these things are not an issue.

Biggest problem was the lack of being able to use the room darkening drapes, as they were mounted on the sides of the window and not movable. Window only had a sheer curtain (okay for daytime) but at night, certainly not good enough for privacy. As second floor roomed faced the rear and a open farm field, it was passable, UNTIL the parking lot lamp post came on. It was like the sun shining in (directly on my pillow). I managed to grab two clothes hangers with clips and attached them to the side drapes to pull them together to block the light. As long as I didn't stand up, it worked. There is no reason to have these darkening drapes fixed so they cannot be used. I like it dark when I sleep and some people may find a need to sleep while still light out. Management deciding to do this to the windows made a big mistake. Bathroom appeared clean enough, but the seat on the toilet was very loose and slid off the bowl. Having owned a small resort, the best thing to do is to stay in the cabins yourself, to see the problems a guest may have. Unless, they want to issue sleep masks at check in - redo the window rods so they can be used properly.
