Often times, I find it tacky to say that "I'm giving one star because I can't give zero." However, this would probably be one of the only instances that I actually mean it. Last night, I was unable to drive my wife the entire distance back to her house, so we decided to stay in a hotel together in Cabot. I had researched the hotel prior to our arrival and even called before we arrived. My mother-in-law rode with us because we were low on money and offered to pay for it. Once we got there, she went in to do so and my wife went in with her. I stayed in the car with our one month old daughter. The front desk attendant told them that they needed an extra $10 to pay for the room and that they would give us a $30 deposit back in the morning at checkout. We thought it was a little fishy, but we agreed nonetheless. Cause at the end of the day, we were just in need of somewhere to stay. We got our key and headed into the room.
I will say, the hotel room was very nice. Very clean, organized, and tidy.
This morning, my wife and I woke up. Just a few minutes after to us waking up, the hotel staff started BANGING on the door. This woke our daughter up.. and if you know how difficult it was getting a newborn to sleep, you'd be frustrated, too. They began telling us how her mother's boyfriend had come to the hotel, checked us out, and took the $30 deposit. Seeing as this was something he would absolutely do, we called him to figure out what had happened. Turns out, he didn't do anything of the sort and the hotel staff was lying to scam us out of our money. A woman that we encountered shortly after said that the same thing has happened to many people. We went to the front office and made them check the cameras and they, at that point, were basically forced to give us our money back. I would definitely recommend any other hotel, unless you'd like to be scammed out of your money. read more
