My husband and I love the Americana YMCA! We've been members for almost 10 years! I enjoy the classes! We have the best instructors! Spin, group power, barre are my favorites. I use the weight and cardio machines at the Y five days a week but have never taken a class there or used the pool or the tennis courts. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and I love the bright, cheerful atmosphere inside the building. The high ceilings and clerestory windows, plus the open floor plan, give the facility an airy, spacious feeling. Another reviewer commented that the building is sometimes cold. That is true, probably because heated air tends to rise to the high ceiling. Most days you can see some patrons exercising in shorts while others are wearing full sweatsuits including hoods. So different people have different temperature preferences. It's easy to keep a sweatshirt in your gym bag. read more

Absolutely miserable experience that will never be repeated or suggested to anyone. Signed up for a 4 session swim class for our 3 year old daughter, in which one class was both late and short, and the last class wasn't even provided. After months of calling them repeatedly about it no resolution has been reached. We've already been warning other families in the area about how entirely unprofessional this entire experience has been. If you want to waste your time and money send your kids here.... Otherwise if you want your kids to learn anything about swimming I suggest literally anywhere else. Update: The day after the reviews they refunded us. Overall, it was never about the money, it was about the complete lack of communication. Very disappointed they never called to reschedule our missed class. Trying to get a call back or email was impossible! I had to call back weekly. One class per week is not great for young kids to build on skills. Plus the instructors did not know how to engage or control the class. Your kid can learn to blow bubbles in a bath tub. Please make sure to look in to all programs offered in Zachary before settling here. read more

I love the atmosphere inside the YMCA it's very relaxing and has the right equipment for all my uses. The staff is very friendly and help with any situation you my have. Being new to the area informed my son to get a day pass at the YMCA while he was on leave. My son came back from overseas, he is severing in the Army. He went to the YMCA for a day pass just to workout. He was declined and refused. Thank you YMCA for my son's welcome home. We have alway been able to go to the YMCA for a day Pass. I love this YMCA so much. It's very big and nice with many facilities. With group classes, plenty of cardio equipment including rowers and stair-steppers, plenty of free weights and machines, locker rooms, showers, tennis courts, outdoor pool, splash pad, and kids zone. Everyone is very nice and friendly. I do have ONE complaint. One evening when my son was in the kid zone and I picked him up he needed a diaper change. I asked where the changing table was and they pointed to the kids bathroom. I walked up as a 7 yr old boy was finishing using the bathroom. Since many kids use that bathroom unattended it gets pretty filthy. The trash can was overflowing and actually easily accessible and open so that kids could easily play in the trash, and it looks like they had been. The changing table was very small and my 15 month old barely fit. I changed him as quickly as possible and told myself I would never change him in there again. I felt bad putting the diaper in the trash hoping that another child wouldn't fish it out and play with it. So my request is to ask that the bathrooms in kid zone are checked and cleaned more frequently and maybe a better spot for the staff to change toddlers. For parents, no matter how fun a kids area can be, cleanliness can be a deal breaker. Thank you! read more

This facility is clean and adequate, but far from a first class facility. It's very much a small town facility, but certainly the best facility in Zachary. The design is lacking and the attention to detail and needs of the members is not what is should be. One example, in the winter it is so cold in the facility that many have taken to wearing jackets while doing cardio. The lack of heat is compounded by the fan running and basically raining down cold air in the gym. In the summer this would be welcome, but in the winter, not so much. There are two water fountains in the workout area. One has been broken for months. The working one is the handicapped one. It has been reported multiple times by several people. The only response is they are aware of it. Yet, nothing gets done. The men's locker room is poorly designed and has a lot of wasted space based on the club's usage. There are probably five times more lockers than needed. The same goes for the number or shower stalls. If you take a shower, (forget about doing this in the winter because the locker room is way too cold) there is no place to put your towel while you shower because there are no hooks. This too has been reported (apparently the women's showers do have hooks), but nothing has been done. The paper towels for drying your hands are a good ten feet away from the sinks and across a walkway. Water is dripped on the floor making it a slipping hazard in the walkway area. There are no scales in the locker rooms. There is one in the weight area, but weighing yourself with clothes on defeats the point. Other YMCAs have scales in the locker rooms. There are many little things like this that add up. Again, the place is adequate and you can have a decent work out, but don't expect much more. read more

Located in Zachary at the Americana subdivision, they have an Olympic pool, 6 tennis courts and a gym. Everything is sparkly and new. I've only played tennis here and the courts are nice, but the lighting on the end courts leaves a little to be desired. All in all this location seeks to, and seems to be succeeding in, being the belle of the ball when it comes to YMCA properties in Baton Rouge. Well...Zachary. read more
