I had an appointment with Tehra back in July, she cut my hair exactly as I wanted and since it was a new style I was apprehensive, but Tehra did a wonderful job, the cut was excellent, the service was excellent, then facility was excellent, even during Covid, Tehra was excellent. Made another appointment for next week. I live in New Mexico and will defiantly keep coming back to Alpine to get this excellent service. I was treated like a queen at Salon Americana! To have an Aveda salon in a small town where you are planning to wed is a God send. My hair and make up were both done here. Obviously, Jenny, the owner, truly cares about everyone that walks through the door and wants them each to have a fabulous time. My appointment was with Tehra to have my hair done. I was way early for my appointment; however, Jenny went ahead and got me started with a scalp massage [highly recommend this] and shampoo. Afterwards, Tehra expertly used my naturally curly hair to assemble my hair into something even better than I had asked for. Precious Tehra was great and listened to what style I was looking for and made it happen. Make up was next with Dorothy. I had sent a picture earlier of a kind of natural look I was wanting for my wedding, and also brought in some of my own eye shadows that I wanted to use. She was a true artist and blended Avedas brand of make up with my own preferences for eye color! I've never worn foundations or concealers, and although at first the make up felt like too much - once I saw it, I loved it! It lasted all through the evening and the pictures looked great. I recently got married in Marathon and came over to Alpine to have my hair and nails done here. The salon is small and cozy. Service is friendly. I had my hair done there twice -- once for a trial and once for the actual wedding -- and I think both turned out great. My manicure was good as far as shaping, buffing, etc -- my nails STILL look good weeks later -- not typical! -- BUT the polish didn't even last two days -- that was unfortunate. ***I believe the salon has moved from this location to a place right around the corner, but I don't know the new address*** read more

This is an excellent salon. You would think you were in Austin and not in Alpine. I went for a cut and partial highlights and Trina did an amazing job on my hair. She asked me questions before starting and really knows her stuff. I am definitely coming back here. Also, they sell Aveda products, which is nice. read more

Tehra did my hair and makeup for my elopement in Marfa, and I was thrilled with how it turned out. Tehra is extremely talented and got the look I was going for just right. I've gotten so many compliments on both the style and the make-up, and they showed up beautifully in pictures. Jenny and Tehra were very accommodating when I called a week beforehand to schedule a session for me and my best friend, and our time at the salon is one of my favorite memories from the day (including rain storm!). read more

Tehra was SO amazing and exceptional on my wedding day. She did my hair and makeup so beautifully, but that was not what made her and the entire experience so special to me. Tehra has a calm, soothing energy that really carried me through on one of the most stressful days of my life. Being the only ones in the salon, Tehra treated me like a princess without suffocating me, somehow. She knew when I needed decisions made for me and she knew when to give me time (and wine!). Don't underestimate this salon simply because it's in a small town. I've had wonderful, professional, delightful service (cuts, color, toning) at the same calibre as super high end salons in metro areas. The decor is really pleasant and service is always perfect. Horrible service. I was planning an out of town wedding in Marathon, TX and had booked hair appointments by phone and email for myself, my four bridesmaids, and my mother-in-law. I was so happy to find a salon that was green! Unfortunately,I got a random email and phone call months later letting me know that they were shutting the salon down on the day of my wedding to go to an event, therefore all of my appointments were canceled and I was back to square one. Right before my wedding. Apparently the whole staff had to attend and there would be no one available to do everyone's hair for the day of the wedding. It wasn't like they were asking me to cancel my appointment for highlights, they were canceling on my wedding. Not to mention that I had planned this months in advance. Obviously their commitment to customers and business doesn't mean anything to them. My advice, look elsewhere before making an appointment or be okay with the fact that they will randomly cancel on you . read more
