I'm not a thrift shop frequenter, but I was not disappointed with my visit. The store is very large and not messy or dirty. It has rows and rows of clothing separated by kids, women's, and men's and those sections are separated by color. Unfortunately, you have to dig through clothing to find sizes as they are all mixed together, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to shop. To me, the prices seemed very fair. I purchased 5 shirts and only paid $20 with one shirt being Vince Camuto and 4 shirts brand new with tags. I didn't necessarily find anything valuable at a good deal so I wouldn't come here as an avid thrifter looking for treasure, but I would definitely come again for affordable fashion in great condition. read more

This was my first time coming to this store since I just got into thrifting, and it was huge. There were so many racks of clothes to look through. I did find it a bit hard to navigate because items are color coded but not organized by size. Luckily, they had a rack just for plus size clothing, which made it much easier for me to find items. They have great deals based on the color of the tags. I was able to thrift two shirts for under $3 each and two books for under $2 each. read more

This is a great thrift store, plenty of items to choose from and the prices aren't too bad. They do seem to mark things up if it's brand name. I got a blazer for $3, Steve Madden sandals for $8, and a nice purse for only $4. I always leave here with something. There are often sales depending on the tag color. I would come here during the week or very early, as it can feel chaotic with all the stuff and people. I went on a Saturday morning as soon as it opened and it gets packed pretty quickly. read more

American Thrift in Cutler Bay has a wonderful selection of items. I've found beautiful sandals, lamps, and art pieces, among others. Its location is convenient, right off the turnpike. The store is consistently clean and well-organized, and the staff is both attentive and kind. However, some items are priced too high for a thrift store. The biggest downside is the sale of obviously fake purses behind the cash register for hundreds of dollars. When I asked about their authentication process, they mentioned they had too many items to authenticate. I don't recommend purchasing any brand name bags from this thrift store. read more

I love a good thrift and this little gem just popped up next to our local Aldi one day. Clothes, toys, books, jewelry, records, and electronics gently used at good prices. They offer discounts depending on the label colors which change several times a week and update their inventory weekly. If you are over 50 there are special discounts and if you give them your phone number they track points and sent you update on the sales. The best news.. on the weekends they play old school music and it's divine to walk around shopping and humming old tunes on a station dj'd by folks like rick Springfield. There are dressing rooms there to try on if you so desire.. it tends to trend on the warm side. The clothing is divided by color for ease of reference.. I am a regular customer and member at this location, but unfortunately I often feel uncomfortable and unwelcome while shopping here. As a Black customer, I have noticed there appears to be little to no diversity or representation among staff, and employees frequently speak among themselves in Spanish around customers, which can feel excluding and unprofessional. My concern is about the overall customer experience and creating an environment where all customers feel respected and included. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works toward improving the atmosphere for everyone. read more

I went to the American Thrift in Hialeah. I found the store very clean and arranged by color. I was disappointed to find however that the clothes were not arranged by size making it more time consuming to find anything. I found the home decor prices very high as well as some of the clothes. I did find a very cute denim jacket for just $2.99!!! I couldn't believe it. I will definitely be back. read more

I had such an horrible experience I went in found some items and went to check out upon checking out their was a bag hanging WITH CHANEL written I asked for the bag the cashier EUNINSE did not hand me the bag she grabbed the bag and I asked if it's real she said yes and quickly opened the bag then I went over to perfumes she put the bag on the floor behind the desk after picking some perfumes I paid for the items and went In my car and something told me to recheck my items I looked inside of the purse it was a complete FAKE I went back in store and they had the nerve to tell me I never asked if it was real WHICH I DID they said they have video but no audio of course lol and they had the nerve to tell me they would never confirm authenticity WHEN I KNOW FOR A FACT SHE SAID YES THATS WHY I BOUGHT IT I then had to to call the police who said it's definitely a scam selling fake products then writing no refunds or returns I am veryyyyyy upset and they are very rude the workers ARE Hispanics who spoke in Spanish when I only speak English when I spoke to the lady I told her she lied and she yelled and spoke over me saying I asked her to open bag not if it's real WHICH IS FALSE I'm not stupid I'm black and educated I don't need a bag to be opened I asked if it's real and she quickly opened and closed this place is very sick and probably making a fortune getting off on people. read more

Update: awful awful customer service. I will now only come back here if in an extreme pinch. Every visit recently has been a worse experience than the previous. Yesterday I found the cutest Cars overall set for my 3 yo. It was $3 (and not their tag color). The lady said she couldn't sell it to me because it wasn't a set. It was on the hanger as a set. Yes, but tags that are a set have a second tag with xxs on it, this doesn't have that so its not a set. I understand that, I'm familiar. But surely, you can see that $3 for a tiny unbranded shirt doesn't make sense. There was no manager on duty apparently and they refused to sell me both items, only the shirt. The cashier put it aside and said I could come back in the morning and try to get it. I only returned because my son really wanted it and I don't live far. I returned in the morning before 10am to find the basket it was in was emptied. I stood at the counter for a good five minutes with no acknowledgement from the two cashiers there. One lady saw me standing there and didn't say anything, just passed by several times as she put fliers on the counter and chatted with the other person. I finally had to say Excuse me loudly. When I explained the situation, she basically didn't care. Sorry, anything gets put back in the back and back onto the floor. The girl who had been there the day before just said I told you to be back by 9:30, sorry. Never had such poor customer service. I realize now stupidly that she didn't mean I'll save it for you if you come back in the morning. It was meant, come first thing so you can try to get it before someone else because it'll be back on the floor. What BS. I still don't see how something as little as a $3 outfit couldn't have been accommodated. I wasn't trying to buy an expensive outfit and pitching a fit because it couldn't be sold. The cashiers the evening before just kept saying how they are just cashiers and can't do anything. Then have a cashier on every shift who has the authority to make calls. Just sour experience all around. I loved this store when they first opened a couple months ago; spent way too much but was finding amazing deals every time I went, whether it color of the day or not. Once a Henri Bendel bag that just needed a cleaning for $20! Lately I've been fairly disappointed when I've gone and left with little that seemed worth it. Their purse and bag selection quality has gone way down, crappy brands, and if designer brands, crappy condition or charging online reseller prices, like $50 for an okay Coach or MK bag. They use eBay to price higher end items, and now anything remotely worthwhile is put behind the counter and priced at exorbitant eBay prices. It reminds me of the prices you'll see old Disney VHS tapes at on eBay - just bc someone listed it at that, doesn't mean people are buying at that. It's supposed to be a thrift store, not resell market. I have barely found anything that's the marked down color of the day on recent visits, making me wonder if they are now pulling the same strategy as Goodwill has been accused of. Toys were always a great treasure find, now those have gone way up too. Last week they had several Hess trucks, helicopters and cars but all priced at $10-15 and no way to know if they worked! I found one in the box in immaculate condition last yr at a local antique shop for $20. No thanks. There are still finds to be had here, so I still come (better prices and quality than goodwill even still) but be prepared to take your time, look and research their prices on some things. read more
