Rot had ruined the joists. The simple 1 week job was now a complete rebuilding of the entire roof system including new joists. What I got in the end was a perfectly engineered roof with air circulation, up-to-code insulation, and attractive metal roofing. His attention to detail is spectacular - I even heard him tell a technician "No - it has to fit perfectly." Air spacing wood members were slotted to facilitate airflow. The 1 week job took close to three, and each day they left the workspace clean. There were no unreasonable delays and they worked solid through the heat until the job was done.
