"Things to know" If you come here during the week then you will not be charged to enter the Berryessa flea market grounds "just tell the guard that you're going to American purchase medals." During the weekend, however you do have to pay to enter.. When I entered the business, I spoke with Phil "the owner" he struck me as a down to earth guy who loves what he is doing and will give you a fair price for precious metals. "Note" One thing they are not is coin collectors although they will buy them, but you will not get top dollar for them, for obviously reasons; they have to make some profit too. After taking with Phil for approximately 20 minutes Phil made me an offer for what I brought in to sell, I left there feeling like I Phil treated me very fair and like I made a friend. American precious metals has lots of beautiful rings, necklaces, and other precious metals, including Bullion to sell and buy. I'm so dissapointed that people leave reviews out of emotional responses to not getting their way...i called in(test one) got Gus who was very polite and professional. Ive never sold gold before so i asked what the process is and what they'd need from me. They made it so easy, I stopped by was giving a very fair price and cash on the spot.. I was so happy with the experience that i decided to purchase a different item I really liked that I saw. They polished and cleaned it up for me and I'm more than happy. I arrived and they were friendly. I have 4 pounds (123 Troy Ozts) of Silver scrap and silver chucks from refining. Silver at $33.50 today... or $1.08 an gram. I got about 68 cents for my about 90% silver scrap.... not that happy but refineries will not take this stuff from public. They were honest enough that some gold chunks (thought copper) turned out to be 10Kt gold so they could have lied and said nothing of value. The Gold sold well but silver I was expecting 80% spot but the silver was about 85%. Would deal again. read more

They've got a large selection of estate owned pieces but they also have an expert jeweler who can craft custom settings and pieces for you. Rick is very patient and knowledgeable and will create whatever you can imagine. Four of my sons have had Rick craft beautiful custom engagement rings for their fiancés. And both my husband and I have bought each other Anniversary rings here. They have an incredible selection of diamonds to choose from to fit your budget too, and I like that there's never any pressure to buy anything. I'm surprised to read any negative reviews. We've shopped here for well over 20 years and have always found the guys who run it to be very friendly and polite. There's a big variety of collectibles for sale and it's easy to lose track of time checking everything out! Because they buy and sell estate pieces, it keeps the inventory always changing. This is absolutely the best place to trade in your gold, silver, coins, etc. They are completely honest and truthful and so easy to deal with. We took in a load of pure silver coins and were very surprised at how low the fee was to convert them to cash. Note: go there on a day the flea market is not operating as you can drive in the main gate and park right next to the building. On flea market days you have to park in the big lot across the street. read more

This place is located in the flea market on Barryessa (i.e. the fancier/cleaner one). This can be cool if you're interested in checking out the flea market (as I sometimes am), but it can also be a hassle if you just want to buy some silver on a weekend without a parking/admission overhead. The good news is that the shop is also open on weekdays, when the flea market is inactive. With one exception, I haven't been thrilled with their prices on pre-1965 90% "junk" silver coins, but I've had what I've considered to be fair deals on silver bullion, both generic rounds and government issued coins. They also have some neat Mexican silver. I've bought Onzas (fine and sterling versions) as well as 72% coins (cinco y cien pesos) here. I've also seen some encapsulated American Silver Eagles and maybe proof sets that I don't care enough about to price-check, and maybe two-thirds of the shop is given over to jewelry and such, if you're into that sort of thing. It's definitely worth checking out if you like precious metals. I don't go too often, but I plan on returning before too long. I've gotten some of my favorite shinies here. read more

This coin shop is in the middle of a flea market (although they are a permanent establishment which opens on days the flea market is closed), and has a large quantity of bullion coins and precious metals at fair prevailing retail prices. From this alone, it would be hard to give them less than three stars. But the employees are fairly irritable and do not like to be bothered, so I can't give them any more than three stars. read more
