Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel - Garlic Parmesan wings

The Eagle Hotel is one of those places that does exactly what it should and does it well…read more While it's now owned by the Funk family (who have several restaurants in the area), the Eagle has stayed true to its roots. The menu hasn't been overcomplicated or reinvented, and that's honestly part of the charm. If you've been coming here for years, it still feels like the Eagle. We came with a group of eight, ordered food and drinks across the table, and everything came out impressively fast. Drinks were quick, food followed right behind, and nothing felt rushed or sloppy. The wings are a standout. They still do wing nights, and you can tell they take them seriously. They use Bell & Evans wings, which are locally sourced and it shows in the quality. We had the sweet heat bone-in wings, which were perfectly cooked with great flavor, and Thee FEHO boneless wings, which were also excellent. We also ordered the flying eagle fries hand-cut fries topped with cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce. Comfort food done right. You can choose from hand-cut, curly, or extra crispy fries, which is always appreciated. The space itself is small but comfortable classic small town bar vibes with exposed brick, a cozy dining room in the back, and a relaxed bar area up front. It's not fancy, and it's not trying to be. It's just a good place to hang out, have a few drinks, eat solid food, and actually enjoy yourself. Overall, this is a dependable, low key spot with good food, fast service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We've been here many times before and will absolutely keep coming back. It's a staple for a reason.

My husband and I went to Hidden Stills for a Sunday Happy Hour power hour!…read more We weren't incredibly hungry, but wanted to dabble in some nice appetizers. The appetizers were well worth the price and were served pretty quickly! I had the Ahi Tuna Nachos and my husband had the Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts. Both were delicious and the right amount for a heavy appetizer for a Sunday afternoon! To top it off, we also had some drink specials that included the Frosted Strawberry and draft Blue Moon. We topped off the afternoon with the recommended pineapple upside down cake and didn't turn back. It was decadent and the prefect size for two. The staff was pleasant, but I felt should have been more attentive for a sparse bar. The restaurant was unique in design and trendy, and had a nice flow of customers for a Sunday afternoon. All in all, would do again for the happy hour specials! Quality of food: 5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Overall cost and experience: 4.5/5

Ok to good food but great brewery. A+ service from the employees here both times I have been here…read more Location is clean, spacious, not loud & comfortable. My wife got the same Chicken Salad sandwich again, it's still a winner, seafood chowder was satisfactory to good according to her, she took the balance back to our hotel & she had it in the morning as she had a early morning meeting & we had a microwave, she changed her opinion to great , saying it tasted even better in the morning I guess from it being dehydrated. Pretzel was great, I had a chicken pot pie which I though was ok, it was basically a chicken stew served with a puff pastry in there instead of the stew in a puff pastry, It tasted clean & light lacking body so I ordered a side of lime rice which worked for me. The star of this place is really their custom brews, I thigh think the food here is 4to 4 1/2 star but their brews make it a 5 star restaurant. Their birch beer & bourbon ginger are perfectly balanced flavor & refreshing & I also bought a bottle of their express Old Fashion to take home, 10/10 satisfaction. Even in you are not a alcohol consumer, the Location, atmosphere & quality of service coupled with good , clean food makes this a great restaurant. A definite must visit in Hershey.

The menu immediately caught my eye with its local flair, and it did not disappoint. They happened to be hosting trivia night, which was such a fun surprise and gave the place great energy. I ordered the chef's special crabcake sandwich, and it was outstanding--perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Easily the highlight of my night and exactly what I needed after a long day. Kelsey and Kristen were absolute standouts--warm, engaging, and incredibly welcoming. Even as someone from out of town, I was treated like a regular, which made the experience even better. Between the food, atmosphere, and people, this will absolutely be a regular stop for me on future work trips. Highly recommend.

This was a recommended stop on our annual trip to Hershey. Typically, we would have lunch at…read moreanother brewery in the area, but we were up for something different. There are two of these in the area, we weren't quite sure which one to hit, so we opted for the one closer to our hotel in Hershey. We arrived just as they were opening at 11:00 am for lunch. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the bartender and the server. They were the only two working up front, but it was fine; our entire time there, only one other table came in (this was on a Friday). The inside was nice, and we were seated by a fire. The only gripe I have is that the chairs seemed to be the wrong size/height for the tables. But other than that, the place looked good. My wife ordered a beer flight with an assortment of sours and a wheat. I went for the Annville IPA Bold Cask. It was a really, really good beer. Smooth, fully-bodied, and with a good amount of hops. Plus, it's 9.8%, so if you ask me, that's a great way to start off a lunch! The beer flight was decent, but more my wife's thing. Now onto the food. There were a lot of great choices, and we were starving, so of course, everything looked good. We always order for our six-year-old first so they can eat while we relax. We ordered him the hot dog and tots. For our apps, we ordered the Tator Tot Nachos: house cheese sauce, fresh pico, scallions, jalapenos, cilantro lime sour cream, and chicken. And also the smoked wings with hot sauce. I'm always a fan of tator tots, maybe it's because I never had them as a kid, or they really are that good. But these were perfect on a cold day in central PA when you're hungry. The right amount of salt on the tots, crispy exterior and creamy inside, plus the toppings (I love fresh jalapeño). The wings were okay, but this was to be expected. They're smoked, and as much as I love smoked food, you never get the skin crispy (especially on wings). They had a slight smoke flavor and a good sauce, but I'm a "well done" wing guy, so these I would pass on next time. By the time we were going to order lunch, my wife realized she was already full, and we still had a decent amount of food left. So she just picked at the appetizers. I was getting there myself, but I wanted to try a burger. I ordered the Pub Burger: 8 oz, Cooper Sharp, red pepper-bacon jam, dill pickle aioli, lettuce, brioche, and fries (because who can resist more fried potatoes). It came out perfectly medium rare as I ordered and seasoned well. I was apprehensive about the red pepper-bacon jam; I'm not a fan of sweet, but in this case, it worked. It was a great burger (although I only ate a quarter of it). The service was good, and she was very personable and polite. But one thing that was strange. She was on the phone almost the entire time we were there with whom she said was the owner (or maybe a manager). We heard her discussing the reservations and large parties coming in. This was a long call, and while I know there wasn't a lot going on in the restaurant, we felt at times we needed something, and she was busy talking. I'm not blaming her; if it were the owner or manager, they should certainly know better and keep it short. But when she was there, she was great. All in all, a great recommendation from a friend that we are happy we stopped to try. We will be back again, maybe sooner than our annual trip to Hershey!
