The area may look a little rough around the edges, but don't let that discourage you -- once you walk in, it's all heart and family vibes. I came with my brother (who's a veteran), and even though I'm not one myself, everyone made me feel welcomed right away. A special shoutout to bartender Nancy -- she was an absolute sweetheart. We got to talking and realized how small the world is because we actually knew some of the same people! The whole atmosphere felt warm, social, and genuine. People were introducing themselves, chatting, and celebrating together -- it really felt like family. The food and drinks were on point too. They were serving chicken red enchiladas the night I went (a little spicy for me), and Nancy kindly had the cook make mild green ones instead -- such thoughtful service. I also learned they have karaoke and steak dinner on the first Friday of the month, which sounds like a fun time. Another thing I thought was really cool -- on Friday nights, part of the hall is reserved for a private men's church group, which shows how much this place supports the community. They also rent out the hall for celebrations and events, and they have a full bar, so if you're local to Anaheim and need a space for a party or gathering, this is honestly a great option. But what really stood out to me is that the bartenders and cooks are volunteers -- they give their time just to support the veterans' community, and that's something special. If you're a veteran in the area, stop by and show some love. This place deserves all five stars for the welcoming ambience, great people, and strong sense of community.

My son was scared and told the staff on duty, whom also witnessed it and asked the older boy to stop, twice! The older boy continued to behave this way until my boy was beyond grief! When I picked him up, I was in shock! I emailed the operation manager and never heard one iota from him! I then contacted the program manager and although she was very empathetic to the matter, she did say that the behavior is not acceptable. At any rate, we haven't returned because my little boy is scared. He is nervous when we walk by the club and is constantly watching his back. I heard from someone that the entire program had merged, but I haven't heard from anyone and maybe it's better that way-AT THIS LOCATION, I just wonder if it's the same at other locations. I can't imagine it's like this everywhere. I guess you will just have to pay $$ for your experience. Hopefully it will be better!

**For some reason this place is listed in yelp twice so I copied my review so it shows up for…read morewhichever listing comes up in Google.** I've never actually been inside so this review is about the people it attracts. I live in the apartment complex right next to it. First of all, they do alcanon and probably narcanon meetings during the week. Sometimes I can hear people screaming and shouting behind the carports. Once I heard something breaking and went to check on my car. It was fine but I was still a bit freaked out. On holidays they hold close to full scale concerts (like with multiple amps amd heavy metal instruments) in the parking lot. Given the proximity to my apartment this might be in violation of zoning and ordinance laws. It's only once in a while so it isn't a huge deal. Just sucks when they happen. This is a salvation army location, so there are homeless people around. I wouldn't have a problem with them except that there have been MANY reports (including here on yelp) that some of these people enter the complex parking and break into peoples' cars. My theory is that the church does what they can for the local destitute, then they spend the night in the park across the way. Tge parking lot is right in between on that side, so they either cut through or do breakins. Either way it seriously sucks for people who have their vehicles damaged. There's supposed to be a furniture store here but again I've never been inside and I honestly don't intend to go ever. Lastly I live close the walmart so I carry my groceries in my wheely basket. When they have services on Sunday it seems like everyone makes my shopping their business. I'll just be walking by literally going home and tgese people will look at my food and make comments like I'm supposed to have their approval to buy produce. It annoys the hell out me. So in fairness I'm giving a nutral non-negative 3 stars. I think the church means well

Fast forward to years later, and I have added WCS, Argentine Tango, and Square Dancing to my dancing list, and then happened upon The Living Tradition folks here in SoCal during a demo night just before an Irish contemporary folk group's concert in the summer months' public concert series at Chapman University. They are very friendly and welcoming to everyone. Straight and LGBT friendly. "You wanna dance? Great to see you," is their attitude. Plus ALL ages. Note: Beginners Welcome Year Round at Each Dance What is so very nice about dancing with them each month is that you can be brand new to Contra anytime during the year, and go and you'll be fine. They have a mini-dance class at the start of the Saturday evening. Then there is a Contra Dance Caller for the evening. S/he will always instruct for what are the steps you will do in the next Tip/Dance, so you're fine as a beginner as well as an experienced Contra Dancer. This is fantastic exercise. They dance monthly on the 4th SAT in downtown Anaheim in the Downtown Community Center (http://www.anaheim.net/article.asp?id=85). There is abundant free parking, and the building is well A/C'd. If you've ever danced in SoCal in the summertime, you know what a LOVELY feature this is. Pricing: Unless otherwise noted at their website, $10 per person; $8 for Anaheim residents, Living Tradition members, seniors, and full-time students. Children under 18 FREE with paid adult. Seriously, all ages dance here. Bring a bottle of water and remember to sip and hydrate between contra tips.
