I came here and did my lap swim about 2 years ago during pool maintenance at the Y Los Altos. The pool is big, heated, and has small hot spa (jacuzzi). The upstair cardio area is decent, has lots of upgraded machines, free weight area, and great view toward the outdoor pool. The studio for GroupEx classes is big, well air-conditioned, and clean. I stopped by women's locker room before class and noticed overall clean in the restrooms and shower. They have lots of classes for young members and seniors. Especially a variety of Aqua classes are very popular for the seniors such as Aqua fit, bootcamp, Aqua deep, and etc. The parking is big enough next to Von's market, Marshall in the large strip mall. They are like corporate gym such as 24 fitness, LA fitness. They have lots of choices for the pool activities and groupEx classes. Great workout place for family, even myself. I have always heard about these places providing support to family members of their ill kids-but never knew to what extent. The house is staffed 24-7, and provides lodging in an almost resort like environment. Great care went into every detail of the house, to better provide services to their guest. Their are 19 guest rooms, and they were at 90 % occupancy. During my visit, another volunteer group had just made breakfast for the guest-while another group was cleaning doors and windows. My group got to help setting up the holiday decorations. Thanks to the many private donors, companies and people who volunteer their time to make this happen.

Here is the PROS, the facility itself is generally clean & decent. The building is air-conditioned. Here are the CONS, I don't like the idea of servers putting food on the table in advance & the food gets cold. I thought we're suppose to form a line so they can serve food right on our plates. Too bad they don't allow seconds after my first plate. It depends on how many people there.

Plus I was trying to get a gauge of the prices of the trees with type and quality. I ended up getting my tree from them because not only was the 5 ft grand fir ($39) I picked out a super PINEY smelling one but the staff selling the trees were really friendly and patient and answering all my tree questions. My tree is also very furry, not a bald spot in sight and very shiny with soft needles. Staff and volunteer youth offered to trim brushes and the bottom of the tree to my liking. They also offer to bind your tree in plastic netting for transport, very helpful for me as I live in an apartment complex with stairs. They then strapped my tree to the top of my car =) Although the price of my tree was about $4 more than the same size and type of tree variety I chose from the other sights....there was something special about my tree and the people selling me the tree. It called out to me. Plus it had a very distinct and strong PINE smell, other lots trees didn't have that, other lots also had dry trees. My tree is super lush and green...love it, had to have it!! So worth it! For about $4 they also sell mistletoe which benefits the local boy scouts troop. Tree stands were $12 extra as well. The lot itself is also nice because its in a big lot with a tent covering the trees and they had holiday music and complementary hot cocoa and cider that the children were handing out. 100% of the proceeds of the sale go to the Los Alamitos Youth Center, so that makes me feel like I supported the local youth and still got something for the holiday.

Is well organized for the most part, all the clothes, shoes, frames and other things are pretty much stocked to the fullest. The only thing that was messy were the Knick knacks like the glasses/ceramic figurines, holiday decorations, and all the other junk. You know the saying; one man's junk is another man's treasure lol is fun to look through everything. Is a good store, it was pretty crowded. Unfortunately I didn't find anything I liked so I left empty handed. Sometimes you find great stuff there and in good conditions, and some are brand new, they even have the original tags on it. I like the one by my house in the West Covina area by the mall, they get donations from the mall sometimes. Like 2 years ago, Guess donated all their floor samples and I found some great clothes. It has a little cut here at there but is hardly noticeable. If I was wearing it, you probably wouldn't even know I got it at Goodwill, you probably thought I got it at the Guess Store at the mall.
