The panko breading they use is such a nice contrast to the beer batter at so many other restaurants. The seasoned fries have rotated over the years between shoe string and waffle, but always come with a good amount and are nice and crispy. The dining area isn't massive, but there's rarely ever a wait, which is a huge plus on a Friday night. Whenever I see a post in the local foodie group I'm in on social media asking for the best fish fry in the area, Bubs is always the one I recommend.
