While I am grateful to have my kitten home and he is very loved, my experience with the owner of…read moreCat Kids Rescue, Phyllis, was upsetting and concerning. I met this kitten at a PetSmart adoption event. His adoption fee was listed at $325, while other kittens available at the same time were $175. At a volunteer's suggestion, I contacted Phyllis to ask if there was any flexibility, as I had previously adopted from this rescue. During our first call she was kind, but when I followed up later the tone changed significantly and felt dismissive and unprofessional. After that call, my attempts to follow up--along with attempts from family members--went unanswered. A volunteer later shared with me that the adoption fee had been increased due to the kitten's popularity and expressed that she personally felt the fee was unusually high for a rescue adoption and did not agree with how the situation was handled. Raising an adoption fee based on demand felt like price gouging and made me uncomfortable with the process. My family ultimately helped cover the full fee as a birthday gift, and I'm thankful to have my kitten. However, I strongly encourage anyone considering adoption from Cat Kids Rescue to ask clear questions upfront about fee structure, consistency, and communication expectations.

The Volunteer was as helpful as they could be, and all they could tell me was that this cat was "depressed". I know nonprofits and volunteer work is a complete thankless job, but I seriously question Phyllis and her team of training and scouting people to be volunteers for this rescue. This cat had clearly been in pain up and for adoption. Why aren't the volunteers saying something to the owner of the rescue? Also, any decent human being that walked by this cat, why did nobody advocate that this cat is clearly not OK??? Humans have failed this cat I'm crying in PetSmart because this cat is clearly not OK and I impulsively adopt him. I bring him to the vet and he has a laundry list of issues From covered in fleas, White blood cells not okay, Kidney issues, Severe dehydration, Severely underweight, Eyes nose and mouth discharge, A large hard mass in his abdomen (x ray said it was poop) And a lot of inflammation in the body. WHY DID THE RESCUE IGNORE THIS CAT WHO IS CLEARLY NOT OKAY??? I am doing everything I can to get this cat better and have him on a treatment plan but was told by the vet that if he doesn't have even a small improvement in just a few days, that I need to consider euthanizing because the quality of his life is not currently not OK. I am completely disgusted by the lack of care this rescue is putting into cats. Reading other reviews, this seems like a common theme. I've texted phyllis, multiple times asking for the medical records for when they got this cat neutered. Something shady is going on & I am heartbroken for these cats. Phyllis, don't even bother replying to this message because Absolutely NOTHING you can say will make up for your lack of compassion & empathy, unethical practices, and down right HORRIBLE neglectful treatment of this cat. You should be ashamed of yourself

Largo Central Park itself is beautiful and beautifully laid out. We were happy to visit during the month of December 2019. This is a super cute small scale railroad which is suitable for kids ages 1 +. During the first weekend of the month they offer complimentary rides on both Saturday and Sunday. The rides are from 10am-4pm and be prepared to wait in line. Although we arrived there shortly after 10am there was still a fairly fast moving but lengthy line that made me wonder how it would be if you arrived before 10am. There were two trains in operation the day we went so this made the process faster. Upon arrival you are asked to fill out and sign a waiver for you and your family that is taking part in the ride that absolves the "railroad company" of any liability if you are injured. Then you are given a punch card with the date you attended punched out on it. You are allowed to rode once on either day of the first full weekend of the month. For December they had a Santa and Mrs. Claus sitting on a bench under the covered portion of the outdoor "station" as you meandered through the line. You could take a complimentary picture with the duo and they handed out candy canes to the little ones. Everyone that worked there was so nice as well! When you arrive We chose to go on a Sunday in December and were not disappointed. Our daughter is train/ride obsessed and loved this. She enjoyed looking at all the holiday decor and zooming past the water feature as well as going in the tunnel. It was fun and a cute activity for her to partake in. She loved pointing out the other train go by as we whizzed past and she loves going in the tunnel. She had a permasmile the entire time. They even offer a Polar Express Ride on select evenings during the holiday season where all the decorations are illuminated and I believe refreshments are included for a fee. If our daughter had a later bedtime we would have bought tickets for this but it will have to wait. After going on the train we checked out different aspects of the park such as their massive Christmas tree (daughter is obsessed) as well as their awesome playground area which was the coolest that I have been to in awhile. There were lots of features for a variety of ages! Parking for the railroad is the same parking as the park.
