I grew up going to Villa Parke Community Center and haven't really been coming around since my…read moreyounger years. I returned today to get my taxes done with VITA and during my time waiting, I got such a strong sense of community from the employees to the community members. The volunteer workers were so helpful and informative and I ended up needing to use services from the library to print out some missing forms. The librarian was so helpful, too, and the library was so cute and kept well. I noticed there were people on their way to a fitness class, so I'm curious about that. There was just so much love and good energy in this center. I highly recommend coming here, I definitely want to make my way back.

This place has a teacher that teaches in English for people trying to apply for citizenship but…read morethey are Spanish speakers. She yells and degrades people who aren't fluent in English which defeats the purpose of the class because it isn't for fully fluent people. If she gets upset, she kicks them out of the class and tells them not to return. She has made people cry and I have tried to report her for years and villa park does nothing. I even went to the board who hires the "teachers" and nothing. If you don't want your loved ones getting disrespected, especially during this difficult time for our immigrant community. PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE!!

The community room was a nice size with rows of tables and chairs. This library is historical in Altadena and has an old-school nostalgic vibe. Everyone was nice. They're currently showcasing a small exhibit of beautiful native California bee photos by local conservation photographer Krystle Hickman which was the reason for my visit. The exhibit is found in a small seating area in the center of the library. It's almost like a little outdoor courtyard in the middle of the library! Lots of natural light and plants surround cozy seats and the back wall is highlighting the bee photos - it's a very beautiful small gallery and I'm so glad I visited! Her work with the native California bees has been significant. I took a class with her at the LA Arboretum this year and learned SO much! So I was very excited to learn this library was promoting her work! There's plenty of parking in their large lot. They have a water conservation garden section outside with interesting info on plants and wildlife. They have a huge beautiful art piece near the door. You have to climb several small flights of stairs to enter this way - but there's a handicap entrance around the corner in the front. The inside is quiet and very welcoming with friendly, helpful staff. Definitely a great place to relax, read, and get work done.
