If you aren't familiar with the VFW, it's a fraternal organization for veterans who have served in a combat theater. It was originally founded for vets to be able to get away from the general public and connect with other vets. They have since begun welcoming the general public when accompanied by a VFW member. I am a proud lifetime member, but my home post was in Germany. So, I came here to check it out and see about transferring my membership. I think everyone has a general idea of what they THINK the VFW would be like...and chances are, they would be completely correct! There is a canteen inside that has a full bar, pool table, dart, shuffle board, and various other activities. The hall also has meeting rooms, offices, kitchen...etc. The decor is far from modern. The grounds of post 8787 has a small race track, some green space, and a large deck. The jukebox is playing anything from oldies to blues and country. At this post...I am the youngster! The people here are friendly and engaging. The Ladies Auxiliary is the first to greet me and we have some great conversations. A few beers in I finally realize something...I realize that THIS is what I've been looking for. I've finally found my community. This place feels like home and I look forward to spending a lot of time here. Be nice to me...maybe I'll let you tag along sometime...:)

We were at our wits end dealing with Social Security (who look for every reason to deny you any coverage due to paper work!) It was a nightmare for us, due to the fact we had 50-70 sheets to fill out but after our go with Social Security we were about to give up until we found Mr Hamilton who is a gentleman in every way! He knew all the ends and outs of Social Security's paper work and did all the filing for us! He got my son the coverage he needed.. Almost a year later we started having issues with SS again.. We could not get the info we were asking for from Social Security on why we were having these problems, so my wife said "let me call Mr Hamilton"... Guess what? he came through again for us in less than 24hrs... Got us the info we were wondering about and corrected their issues! Social Security is the master of deception... (Definition of deception. : the act of causing someone to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid) I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE NOT TO APPLY FOR SSI YOURSELF! YOU WILL NEED SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO PLAY THEIR GAME! I WOULD RECOMMEND MR HAMILTON TO ANYONE! I cannot tell you how grateful we are for this gentleman!

Animal Hospital of Hutto was amazing! We were in town for vacation when one of our dogs ripped his…read moretoe nail off and we couldn't get the bleeding to stop. I called not knowing if they would even see us, but not only were they able to get us in immediately, the woman on the phone was so nice, while I was a frazzled mess. They got us right into a room, were so sweet to our boy, answered all of our questions, explained everything they were going to do and follow up steps for us, and got him taken care of! I would highly recommend them and when we do finally move to Hutto, I can definitely see them being our primary vet!

We recently moved to Texas from Georgia and were looking for a new veterinarian for our six…read moredogs--five dachshunds and our recently adopted white Lab, Roger. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. This clinic advertises "same-day appointments," but based on our experience, that was not the case--even when we had a dog who was clearly in pain. I was already scheduled to pick Roger up from surgery when I called ahead and explained that I would also be bringing Rosie, my tiny dachshund who has a history of IVDD. She appeared to have injured or aggravated her back and was obviously uncomfortable. I specifically asked if she could be seen while I was there. I was told to bring her veterinary records, so I immediately contacted our previous veterinarian in Georgia and had Rosie's records emailed to the clinic as requested. I then brought Rosie with me when I picked up Roger. Once there, however, I was told by an extremely rude receptionist that Rosie would NOT be seen and that I could bring her back the following day. What was particularly upsetting was that we had done exactly what we were asked to do--obtained her records, had them sent over, and brought her with us--only to have an obviously hurting dog turned away. Meanwhile, the clinic had no problem completing Roger's discharge and collecting payment for his surgery. I understand that veterinary offices can be busy and may not always have the ability to accommodate every walk-in. What I do not understand is advertising "same-day appointments," instructing a new client to obtain and bring veterinary records for an injured dog, and then refusing to even evaluate that dog once she arrives. When you have six dogs, finding a veterinary practice you can trust--especially when one of them is hurting--is incredibly important. After this experience, this will not be that practice for us. And regarding the receptionist: compassion and respectful communication should be basic requirements when dealing with people who are worried about their animals. The way this situation was handled was unnecessarily rude and completely inappropriate for a veterinary setting. We will be finding another veterinarian for all six of our dogs.
