I was on this side of town picking something up and had a little time to spare so I decided to pop…read moreover to the lake and see what the trail was all about. I spent about 10 minutes walking in one direction and then had to turn around to make my appointment but in that 20 minutes, I fell in love with this place. The trail itself is really lovely. You can tell that it is very well maintained and not overgrown next to the path. The small bridges for pedestrians to walk over along the path are a nice touch as well. So much of the trail is shaded and this was a particularly cool day which made me excited to come back in the fall and see the leaves change. I saw two deer while I was there both somewhat close to the path and completely visible, and I passed a handful of other people, enjoying the trail that day, including a handful of leashed dogs which are allowed on the trail. The trail is six or 7 miles long so definitely plan for a long day if you plan to do the whole Lake, but there are two loops that you can do in a shorter amount of time or you can do what I did and park at one of the parking lots do a small walk and then turn around and go back.

One of the highlights is the new fully inclusive playground -- it's thoughtfully designed with ramps, wheelchair-accessible swings, and fun features for kids of all abilities, making it a great destination for families. Cyclists will appreciate the addition of air and tools for on-the-fly bike repairs, which makes stopping here even more convenient. I also love the recent trail improvements at 168th Street -- the updated sections make riding and walking around the park feel smoother and safer. Whether you're out for a spin, a stroll, or a family day, Lake Zorinsky is a must-visit outdoor escape in West Omaha!

I honestly didn't know what to expect but this is a beautiful, quiet garden in Omaha. There are…read morehistorical markers around, a special garden dedicated to his wife, Betty Ford. There is a statue in both persons honor. It was kind of interesting when we noticed that Betty passed away July 8, 2011. We visited July 23, 2011. Large stone tablets lined the birthplace, etched with all past and present President's names. This would be a great place for photography sessions. We just parked along the street. I'm not from the area but the homes around it looked nice. I didn't feel unsafe. Worth a visit, especially for history buffs. The Gerald Ford birthsite and gardens commemorate the birth of Leslie King, Jr., who later became Gerald R. Ford, Jr. and was eventually sworn in as the thirty-eighth president of the United States of America in 1974. The ornate Victorian house at 3202 Woolworth Avenue was one of the finest homes in Omaha. The three-story, fourteen-room house reflected the status of its wealthy occupants, the King family. The Kings' only son, Leslie, married Dorothy Gardner and, in the summer of 1913, the young couple lived in this house with Leslie's parents as they awaited the birth of their first child. On a hot and steamy July 14, 1913, Leslie King, Jr., was born. Soon afterwards, the new mother took the little boy to live with her parents in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dorothy and Leslie's marriage ended in divorce and in 1916 Dorothy remarried. The three-year-old boy was adopted by his new stepfather and became Gerald Rudoph Ford, Jr. In 1971 President Ford's birthplace home was razed following a fire. Upon Ford's succession to the presidency in 1974, Omaha businessman James M. Paxson purchased the property intending to build a memorial on the site. In 1977 the birthsite was dedicated. The following year a rose garden was added in honor of former First Lady Betty Ford.

We liked the monument stones which detail past U.S. Presidents, Nebraska governors, etc.; nevertheless, they need to be updated for recent elections. The gazebo exhibit includes several interesting displays of President and Betty Ford along with audio recordings.

I've watched my niece play soccer on the soccer fields here, played on one of the playgrounds with my nephew, went hiking with my sister and nephew, and walked one of the trails along the lake with my boyfriend the morning of my birthday. Each time I visited it felt so nice to be amongst nature and nature loving individuals. The soccer fields are well kept and there is ample parking for parents and guests. The playgrounds have a plethora of equipment and fun cement animal structures that make it fun for children to use their imagination for play! It was so neat to see him be creative and use his imagination. The most recent time I've had the pleasure of visiting this area was just last month on the morning of my birthday. I wanted to see deer out and about and this is the place to go and see them! It was a short two mile trail walk but absolutely beautiful! We got there around 730am and there were a handful of people there walking, biking, fishing, and running at that time. It was comforting to see like minded people enjoying the weather, the nature around us, and the recreation area. The side we enjoyed our morning walk was new to me. I had never seen the side of the park with the lake. There were benches sporadically placed along the edge of the water and also a little covered area that you could walk out on to and enjoy the view. I noticed other playgrounds and buildings that I'm sure you could request to rent or reserve. If you haven't ventured out to Chalco before I highly suggest that you do!! There is something for everyone here, especially if you love the outdoors, seeing wildlife doing their thing, or if you just need some time to yourself to relax and recover from work or life. Do this for yourself and embrace the beauty of this place!

You can count on seeing very brave deer if you come at dusk. Our favorite part is the off-leash dog park. There is a TON of room for dogs to run and a variety of landscaping.
