Last year was getting the title for my Jeep. I had to have a lien satisfied letter from American First Financial. They were very responsive and sent me a letter indicating the loan from years ago was paid off. This was encouraging and helpful as I was in the process of purchasing the Jeep and just trying to complete the ownership paper trail. This is a terrible company I had financed furniture. I was double charged my account for same bill. I noticed that charged wrong account paid of loan by what I was told amount is. They over charged me and will not give me my funds back. I have called in to the service several time and got different answer from everyone I spoke with. Beware of this creditor, you may be entering a legally binding contract in which is the equivalent of loan sharking. Example... I was approved for a $3000 purchase of some furniture. I bought approximately $2800 worth of furniture. I already had the intention of paying this off within 30-45 days, as I was going to make a down payment and was waiting for a deposit for the remaining money to pay the balance off... Was informed that I could not make a down payment at the time of purchase. Several days later I received my copy of the contract via email. 14 days later, charged roughly $200 against my account... Logged into my AFF account to check the balance... it was still 100% of the purchase price. None of the payments went towards the purchase price. It was at that time, I become aware, this was in fact a lease payment. This meant on top of the $200/bi-weekly payment, I was going to have to pay additional money towards the account that was specifically towards the purchase price. So if I spent 28 days to pay $2800 towards the purchase price, I was also going to pay $400 on top of that towards "Lease Payments", PLUS $100 for the early pay-off fee. So a $2800 purchase cost me $3300 or an extra $500 over the first 30 days. And if I don't get that $2800 paid off within 28 days, it will cost me an additional $200 for every 14 days the account is not paid off, and if it's not paid off within 110 days from the date of purchase, the early payoff is not any longer an option and you're locked into "leasing" for additional 21 months or 42+1 payments of $200. SO your options are: Within 28 days= $2800 + $400 + $100 = $3300 total Payoff using full 110 days = $2800 + $1200 leasing fees + $100 total: $4100 Full Leasing term(24 months): Approximately $9,600 Luckily for me, I have the means to liquidate some things and pay this off within the first 28 days. Most may hastily think this is traditional financing. And those that do, will place themselves in a situation that could effectively make them a slave for 24 months to a $400/mo payment for a living room or bedroom suite. If they are not capable of making $1500/Mo payments within the first 110 days to cover the "lease payment" and whittle the purchase amount down before the 110 days expires. Which Most are not going to be able to weather that. read more

Someone mentioned that they pay 150% interest, no you will actually pay 3-4 time the original amount of the item you purchased. I am appalled at how they stay in business with such atrocities. This company is A scam and will rip you off without a backward glance I was referred to these people over major car repairs I needed done over a year ago. I didn't want to get a loan for the repairs but I had no choice since my car was required for my job. My repairs amounted to roughly 900.00. You dont even get to see the terms until AFTER the repairs are done and I was in for a rude awakening... so after the repairs I was sent the contract which gave me 60 days to pay in full or they would add over 1000.00 in interest charges... my repairs cost roughly 900.00 after fees... I was shocked and had I seen the contract before the repairs I would have declined it immediately. I was stuck. I tried paying off as much as I could within the 60 days... but I ended up packing up and moving across state and had trouble finding a job in the new city so was unable too. Anyhow several months later I paid some balloon payments mixed with regular payments over a three month period for a total If roughly 400.00 plus I'd paid over time as well for a total of an additional 350-600 so I called and asked for a pay off amount less the interest and they told me my pay off would be around 800.00 which blew me away... I'd paid nearly 1000.00 at this time but my principle only went down like 150.00???? I was mad... they claimed that in addition to the amount of roughly 2000 that was on the contract I signed they were charging ADDITIONAL daily fees so basically the contract I signed outlining the amount is pay with interest if I was unable to pay the balance off within 60 days... was a false contract... they were adding fees on top of what I contractually agreed to pay. So they were taking 80% of my payments for unauthorized fees and interest ... HOW IS THIS EVEN LEGAL??? When I asked the guy nonchalantly said it was in the contract... I pulled up the contract and no where did it say anything about additional fees But he just refused to answer any questions. I had planned to speak to a lawyer but was caught up in a bunch of stuff than covid hit. For perspective let's say I paid 65.00 ... apparently and unbeknownst yo he only 20.00 if that payment went to my actual balance.. the rest THEY STOLE but the icing on the cake was last Friday when my payment was a few days late cuz everyone in my household but me recently lost their jobs to covid. One of their reps called me that Monday asking about the payment and I told them because if covid related job losses it would be late. He was like " ok" and that was it. When I finally got the money and they deducted it from my account that Wednesday... two days later they hit my account for another 25.00 which I called them about ... they claimed it was for a late fee?? One I did not receive any notice of a late fee even when I spoke to the rep that Monday, and two I DID NOT AUTHORIZE OR OK THEM TO TAKE ANY ADDITIONAL MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT. But again he was rude and nonchalant about it and basically said it is what it is. He claimed they were aiding customers suffering from covid 19 and I was like then why are you stealing money from my account for " late fees" that I never authorized nor was I informed that would be taken from my account. He's like well that needs to be pre authorized and I'm like... your people called me Monday and I told them it would be late due to covid job losses and they didn't say anything about relief nor did they say anything about charging me a late fee... and he was like oh well it is what it is. At this point I went off telling him they are blocked from further accessing my account and can either send it to collections or send a REASONABLE settlement offer since I've you know ALREADY paid my original charges in full twice over... and hung up... they didn't reverse the charges and now I'm going through my bank to stop them from further accessing my account. I can't fathom how STEALING first via unauthorized " fees" that weren't in the contract and then via a supposed " late fee" I was never notified I'd be receiving and never authorized them to take. read more

This is the worst company I have ever felt with I purchased furniture and was told I had 101 days for a pay off then i would be charged INTEREST. I didn't meet my 101 days but my pay off was $300 and some I called then and they told me I owed them another $2000 loan fee. How does $1090.00 furniture turn into $3000?? They do not blatantly tell you what fee's you are in for when I spoke to a manager he told me he would not review my calls (they are monitored) to hear what was told to me because he would not change my account from a loan fee to an interest fee. How can you not want to resolve a issue with a paying customer? I will NEVER EVEE deal with this company again they have horrible customer service, HORRIBLE training for their employees and they are not helpful at all MIND YOU the furniture wasn't even that great had I of known I would end up paying triple the price I would if went to Cardi's or Jordan's DONT DO IT!!!! read more

But I know for sure I'm being over charged I financed something's with America first finance and it was 800 dollars I was charged a deposit for 50 which I don't see reflected on my account! I did not pay any mind and I kept paying for 3 months straight payments of 134 dollars auto payments and now they tell me I'm getting charged daily 2 dollars and some cents of interest after my offer is done which is ok and understandable but they want me to pay double in 12 months almost 1600 for 800 dollars financed now I understood if I wasn't paying on time or if that was the agreement but I was never told I would be paying this much for furniture I will never again finance with these people and I would never buy for 46 furniture gallery on 46 route nj next smoke shop!! They rob me for money and got me to sign with you guys telling me one of the best financial helpers now I pay two furnitures for the price of one !
