Nice Lounge if you have access with the AmEx platinum. Remember, no more than 3 hours prior to an outgoing flight only.. Here, you can have a nice meal and rest your bags sitting comfortably.
THE PROS:
1)Choice of seating inside is first come first served, including padded Lounge chairs, cafeteria styles tables, or Barstool workstations that have charging ports, for those who need to get some work done.
2) The first area of consumption that you walk past will be the drink station. Cold drinks are available in the refrigerator, and serve yourself. If you care for a glass of wine or a cocktail, there is a bar in the back of the lounge. There are cartons of almond milk inside the fridge for those that are lactose-sensitive, so for that you'd have to ask a server to help pour it for you.
3) Who doesn't like a hot coffee drink? This Cafe machine by Nespresso will make you a choice of espressos with pull options, or other coffee drinks, like cappuccinos. There's even an option for hot steamed milk.
4) Next to the coffee is the snack/dessert station. Choice of media Lunas, brownies, and cakes. Speaking of desserts, around the corner from the cakes and juice/lemonade is a freezer of Freddo ice cream bars. The Argentine version of Klondike
5) Food options: If you're hungry, you can order a hot Burger using a QR code, and they will bring it to your table, or make your own salad from the DIY station. Choices from the salad bar were substantial, and I always choose to add beets to my salad (when available, even if nobody else does). Well the burger was well prepared, and quite tasty, you only have the option of a beef burger or veggie burger with fries included. I've seen better food options at other International airports, but still a good clean option for an airport lounge.
6) For those with young ones, there is a small 5 area that is sectioned off with a wall. Low tables, small tv, books, tinker toys on the table. There is a few toddlers playing in there, and honestly because of the wall in between, I didn't hear them at all.
The Cons:
1) One thing I'm NOT a fan of is that the salad bar is open on a counter with absolutely no sneeze guard. The tongs are rested inside the bowl, so people are reaching over towards the center of the counter to get to bowls arranged further away, whilst talking with their friends. And we all know about how droplets work nowadays.
2) NO SHOWERS. The restrooms are individual with a toilet and sink, but there's a weird fragrance they put in there that smells like Chinese medicine. ( I know what Chinese medicine smells like having grown up with it. Even my non Chinese friend said the same thing.)
Incident that knocks off a star: On this last visit to the lounge bathroom, I went in to change into clothes for the airplane, and to plan for landing in a climate much different than Buenos Aires. I also took the opportunity to wash my face and brush my teeth with a small toiletry bag that I brought in with me. Guess I took too long in the bathroom, because of staff member knocked, and despite me answering out loud, she immediately unlocked the door right after knocking just one time! Totally unacceptable, and while I was already dressed, I put my foot to block the door from being opened. Instead of apologizing and closing the door again, she actually tried to come inside. Because she only spoke to me in Spanish, I have no idea what she was saying, but still she should have close the door after realizing there was an occupant inside. It obviously didn't smell like smoke or anything, and it was just lucky timing that I was fully dressed by that point. That alone gets a star knocked down.
The lounge is a good convenience perk for what it is. However, for the price you pay for AMEX Platinum membership, they can do better. Also, because of the cluster F that the Priority Pass lounges are (waitlists of 80+ people), if passengers have access to both, they end up coming in here and waiting until their name is called for the PP lounges since those have showers and this one does not. read more
