If you care about your oral health, avoid this place. I went in for a cleaning and exam, only to leave with visible calculus still on my lower teeth, almost as if they hadn't done anything. Despite arriving early to my appointment and the office being empty, I ended up waiting past my scheduled time while staff in the back were laughing and chatting. The "dentist" told me I had no cavities, yet the X-rays showed otherwise. A second opinion from another dentist confirmed I did, in fact, have cavities. When I called to address the issue, they told me I would need to pay for another cleaning to remove the calculus they failed to take care of the first time. I called multiple locations and used the chat feature. So not only did they fail to do their job, but also failed to take accountability. Whole family has had terrible experience with this dentist. Not sure who they hire here but what was being done during the cleaning if I left with all visible calculus on my teeth? Update April 27: They have yet to get back to me and it's been almost 5 months. They took my money and never provided the service I requested. I didn't receive a cleaning. They just played in my mouth. 4 bitewings and a 3 second "exam". Please don't come here if you value your dental health. Staff aren't helpful either. The lady I spoke with on the chat as well as on the phone had an attitude and couldn't do anything about my except offer to charge me more money for another "cleaning". This was one of the few places in the south 'burbs that accepted my dental HMO. Like all the rest I've tried, this one is not acceptable. They don't do a cleaning as part of a regular exam, and you can't schedule a cleaning in advance, so if you come in for an exam you have to schedule another appointment for the cleaning and come in again. What a hassle. Then when I scheduled the followup cleaning at the Palos location, I showed up and was told the dental hygienist had taken the day off and I had to reschedule. With three kids, I spent an inordinate amount of time arranging appointments. The last straw was when I asked for a referral to an orthodontist and they said they only refer to their OWN orthodontist. I contacted the insurance company, and they said they did not approve of that policy or the fact that they don't do cleanings and exams at the same time. Very poor service and office policies that seem design to bilk insurance. read more

I made an appointment for a cleaning, found a sitter for my kids, but after a brief exam was sent away saying that I needed to reschedule because my teeth were in need of a deep cleaning. My suggestion when dealing with new patients is to respect their time, build their trust and give them the cleaning they came for; then, when scheduling the next cleaning in six months recommend a deep cleaning... that takes two separate appointments and costs $900. I suppose things could always be worse but I wouldn't recommend this place........I felt strange from day one that I had gone there (only did because of insurance). Front desk customer service is not the best although she tries. (I hope it's not her best). Appointments were either rescheduled or late (telling me to get there at a particular time and attending to me half an hour later) and overall was not comfortable with my dental team there. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how great the experience was. The receptionist was extremely pleasant, she went out of her way to pronounce our names properly which was really sweet and different. She also called ahead of time to let me know there was an minor issue and how it should be handled. Based on the reports after, I was satisfied my children were taken care of. They also made sure I had the appropriate referrals and checking out was easy and thorough. I will definitely return later this week for my daughter's filling. Thanks! read more

By far the best dental experience in my life! It was fast and easy and the staff was very informative. I really liked how when I got there, the appointment wasn't late and I was out fast. I really liked my teeth whitening and the dentist was so nice she filed down a tiny chip I had on my front tooth. Very Unprofessional establishment. Paid a 100$ deposit to confirm the appointment for a surgery (Wisdom Tooth extraction) in the following two weeks.The day before my surgery they contacted me and said they forgot to check my insurance and it would take an additional two weeks for that to happen. I had explained to them that i already took these days off from work. read more

Save yourself the trouble and don't go to this dental office. My first appointment with them was scheduled for 2-3 weeks, and the night before my appointment they called me to cancel. They're not very helpful, and I very much so felt the scheduling system they have was just a ploy to get money. I wish I read the reviews on here before selecting this location as my dental provider. I have been coming to the office almost 2 years now and today I had the worst experience in my entire life from any professional business. I was completely disrespected the receptionist. I have never been more disrespected in my life. I received a phone call earlier in the week confirming my appointment for 4:15 on 8/27/15. I pressed the button to confirm this appointment with the automated machine. On 8/26/15 the office called me at 5:53p.m. The receptionist asked me if I could switch my appointment to 5:15pm. I asked her if I would be out by 6pm because I had a prior engagement. She assured me that I would be out by 6p.m. So I said I would switch my appointment to 5:15pm to accommodate the office. When I arrived at 5:05p.m. to the office the receptionist working was blatantly rude to me. She said "You were supposed to be here at 4:15. The dentist left because you are late." And I tried to explain to her that I received a phone call yesterday changing my appointment to 5:15pm. She kept saying "No your appointment was 4:15" as if I was lying about receiving this phone call. I have no reason to lie. I took a half day off from work to come in. She was arguing with me over this issue. I showed her my phone showing that the office called me on 8/26/15 at 5:53pm. She finally asked me if I wanted to reschedule and I said fine. She told me that next time they call to ask me to switch my appointment that I should tell the office "no" As if it was my fault for this situation because I switched my appointment to accommodate their office. So their employee told me not to be accommodating to their business. She told me that she wouldn't charge me for missing the appointment - once again like it was my fault for being late. If this employee would have given me a call at 4:15p.m. when she thought I should have been there I could have been there in 10mins as I was in the area. Instead she provided the worst customer service. Her repetitive tirade of "your appointment was 4:15 and the doctor left because you are late" was a slap in the face. I refuse to be called a liar. Who lies about a dentist appointment? The office always has scheduling problems. I am always being called to switch my appointment to accommodate them and I do so graciously because I understand life happens. I have called to schedule my cleaning and when I show up I am told that they hygienist isn't in and I will only being seeing the dentist. So that's another day I need to take off work because the receptionists can not properly schedule appointments based on clients needs. The proper response today would have been "I am so sorry for the confusion and mix up. There is nothing I can do today about this situation as the doctors have left for the day. Can I please schedule you another appointment at your convenience?" Yes, I would have still been aggravated that I took time off work and in attempt to accommodate their office got screwed over, but I would have not walked out of the office as upset as I was. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED WITH AMERICAN DENTAL!!! Why should i have to leave at least 1 star when they deserve 0? Cracked my upper left wisdom tooth, which a few weeks later started aching horribly to the extent to where I felt I had a horrible migraine and earache combined. Light and sound provoked it more and i couldn't even sleep on my left side. About a week ago I set up an emergency (mind you) appointment for today. They knew i needed my wisdom tooth extracted and that it would take an oral surgeon to do this. I went in and my appointment took less than 20 mins! They proceeded to tell me that the they were able to take my insurance for the the barely 20 mins I was seen but that the oral surgeon which was on staff at the time would not be able to take my insurance!!!!! They gave me a scip for antibiotics and pain killers along with the quote of $240 it would take to pull out my tooth and sent me on my way!!!!! THEY KNEW MY SITUATION AND EMERGENCY BEFORE I WENT IN AND I AM LIVID AND HAVE NO WORDS!!!!! I guess my insurance paid for the receptionists and dental assistants salaries today. I have been going to this office for years and I've finally had enough. What others are saying is exactly true. I have yet to go to an appointment that I made without having the office call and cancel it due to "the dentist has another appointment he needs to attend to". Ridiculous. Chose this dental office due to an insurance change. I called and made on appt one month ago. Two days before the appt I received a call saying they cannot see. Reason is the patient before me has "big work being done." I asked why they didn't know that when I made the appt. Evidently their "call center" sets up appts, then just 2 days before your appt the individual office goes the their schedule and decides if they can really see you or not. Ridiculous!! If this is how they treat a new patient, clearly they don't really want new patients! Haven't even seen these people yet and already have to find a new dentist. Don't waste your time. read more

I went for an appointment and after seeing the referral they had faxed 2 weeks earlier they told me it wasn't completed correctly. They had 2 weeks to tell me this!!!! I was not able to be seen but got a call a few minutes later from my general dentist's office telling me that my wisdom teeth are impacted. So, American dental couldn't tell from the X-ray?!? I went home and called them back to get another appointment for next week. I have no choice because I need this done asap. The worst dentist office I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The staff is very rude very uninformative. They were not working just sitting around talking. Will never go here again. I didn't even get past the rude a** receptionist that did not inform me of a copay or that they did not accept checks only cash and credit. For personal reasons I stop carrying cash and I stop using my credit cards. They would not see me because they wouldn't accept my check for the $10.00 copay (never wrote a bogus check) and I drove 30 miles to get to this office. Very pissed. read more

they are very unreasonable!!!!! had an appointment for root canal that i put a deposit on for $100 on a monday. friday evening i received a call that as of monday i was staring at new position at work. i figured with documentation i would be allowed to leave early to my appointment. well i was wrong, they did not allow me and when i called the dentist office the cocky receptionist told me i would lose my deposit and had to put down another $100 to make a new appointment. read more

I had a great experience with American Dental. They were very profressional. I chose them becuse they are close to where I work. They performed a root canal, not my first, but I was definitely glad I came to American Dental because I had litte to no pain during and after the procedure. I am a satisfied patient! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I only selected this dentist because it is on my insurance and is closer than the others. This location is only open 2 days a week (no weekends, early evenings like 4:30-if you work downtown you are out of luck). First of all, you can hardly get thru on phone to even make an appt (recordings and air heads who put you on hold forever then cut you off); and have to wait a couple of months to get appt because they are only open 2 days week at this location, and now snotty dentist Dr. Ciccirone is going on maternity leave and they are not taking any further appointments and closing this office until further notice~! (This particular location is on my insurance so I would have to formally switch my insurance over to one of their other offices, which are not open evenings or weekends). They are incompetent here and unconcerned about patients and patients' convenience. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I was reading the horrible yelp reviews as I was checking in and after I paid the $25 consultation fee for braces. We were scheduled to see Dr. Taneva the orthodontist for an orthodontist evaluation. We checked in quickly and on time and were brought into her personal office, within a few minutes she came in wearing her dental gear. It seemed as if she was already working on patient, she changed gloves and right there in her freaking office did an oral exam on my daughter and said "yep she needs braces". OMG so unprofessional, I let her know right way that this was not right and she said that if I wanted her to sit in a dental chair I would have to wait. She briefly went over process about braces etc, then walked me up front. She didn't provide any documentation etc and at check out once they found out I would use my dental insurance raised the price from $4,000 to $5800. I asked that they submit NOTHING to my insurance and I literally burned $25 for nothing. read more

I picked this dentist due to having an HMO and a slim list to pick from. Unfortunately, my experiences (at all four offices) were not good. I am writing this review to give anyone considering going here a fair chance to escape unnecessary stress. First I will start with the fact that these offices will not let you schedule a future appointment that is over an hour long or considered a surgery unless you put a $100 deposit down. This was very annoying to me because I had many appointments that needed to be scheduled and much work to be done. My second area of disappointment would have to be the disorganization and lack of communication between all the different offices. One situation for example: The periodontist that I was sent to see said that my gums looked good. At my next appointment with the general dentist, he said that he could not start working on my tooth until the health of my gums got better. I don't get how the dentist who specializes in "gums" says I'm good but another dentist says I'm not. Also, the orthodontist said that I was ok after a tooth extraction only to have the endodontist tell me, in the same office visit, that I had a dry socket. ??? I experienced the worst Novocaine shot ever in my life from one of the orthodontists (and I have had some serious work done and by no means am a sissy). There was never a time that I did not have to sit in the waiting room 10-30 minutes after my appointment time to be seen by a dentist. To sum it up, it was hard to make appointments and I would have to say 90% of the time I left one of these offices, it was in tears. If basic cleanings is all you need, this might be a decent place for you to go. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more
