These guys ARE MY HERO! The day prior to visiting their shop, I had a botched oil change in LA from a hack shop in Glendale, CA. As I began my journey from LA to Phoenix the next morning, my oil pressure light kept coming on. I first stopped in Indio to find my oil bone dry so I added 3 quarts. From Indio to Quartzite, my oil light came on again and upon finding my oil once again bone dry at the Terribles Gas Station, an older man noticed I was in distress and suggested I follow him next door to "American Custom Tire and Wheel" because they were honest and reputable. Upon arrival at this shop, Robby was so attentive and eager to help me as quickly as possible. When they put my car on the lift, Robbie immediately identified a busted O ring for my oil filter that was never correctly installed, causing my engine to continuously lose oil. Not only did Robbie quickly repair my oil filter, he would NOT accept any money for the new O ring or any of the labor involved. As a woman that doesn't know much about car repairs, I've been so used to repair shops nickel and diming me for every little thing and often times taking advantage of me. Not only were these guys so very cool, courteous, and honest, they were extremely generous! I will NEVER forget how impressed I was with their professionalism and generosity! Poor service 24 hour service didn't work. The guy just sent me to voicemail twice cause he was asleep. 7 AM I called it again. He answered sounded like he was about just waking up and that's when the store supposedly opens no one's here and it's 730. Sold me a tire for $175 because my Tire could not be repaired. I agreed he said $175. The guy at the front charged me $275 plus install and other stuff new valve stem $6.50 mount and balance $24 and install tire disposal total $344 for a Brand New Tire. The guy in the back said sorry my fault It was not $175 I still said okay no problem what ever it's convenience. Then I am leaving and see that the date code 2021 this is a 5 year old tire. And a cheap off brand. He said well it's not like we sell these tires everyday.... Got it all on video. Don't stop at this place go on to the next. Now my tire shakes on the highway. Terrible experience here. They took forever with their service. Employees had bad attitude with us. When our vehicle was inspected we were quoted a specific price for a brand new tire. After the tire was replaced we were charged double the price and the tire was a five year old tire. When we complained they didn't care at all. read more

Mytire blew out in the desert, and I saw this tire store that advertises 24 hr service. I called the number, and some cranky old man answered to phone and said to go to the tire sop. It was a 100.00 whether someone was at the shop or not. I had no idea where I was, it was pitch dark. I am not rich and did not want to risk 100.00 for a chance. I sat in my car from 10pm to 630 the next morning and called the number again. The old man hung up his phone. I called again at 7 am , and he screamed at me that I was a no-show the night before. I asked him why he was yelling at me, I just spent the night in my car scared to death. He said it was not his concern he said to go somewhere else, he would not help me. Do not go to this tire shop. The guy must be having some sort of breakdown. I hope he gets treated better than he treated me, if he ever needs help. read more

Sorry in advance, this is a long review, but is well worth the read if you are considering doing business here! In summary, I've never experienced more blatant disrespect than I got from the alleged "assistant manager" who I can only assume is "Robbie" from reading all the other poor reviews on here. I had a flat on the I-10 at 10pm one night and couldn't get the lug nuts off. Had to wait til 4am to be towed to this shop where I slept in my car til 8am. One of the workers (a very nice guy who clearly was not "Robbie") greets me and says he will take a look at my tire. 30 minutes later he tells me that there is a problem with the lug nuts as they seem to not be coming off. He asked for permission to be more agressive, and warned that it may damage the studs they are on. I gave him permission and proceeded to wait until I heard back. A few hours go by, so I decide to get breakfast at McDonalds across the street. My first encounter with "Robbie" was asking him to take my name and number in case they want to reach me as I am at McDonalds. I get back to the lobby, and proceed to wait another hour. It has been 3 hours since I last heard about the status of my car, so I approach the counter to see whats going on. "Robbie" sits on his phone for about 5 minutes, completely ignoring me standing right in front of him. A man walks in the shop behind me, and approaches "Robbie" giving him a hug and asking about his shoulder (I am assuming it's his father, who I assume owns the shop). I am a Physical Therapy Student, so out of the kindness of my heart I ask about his shoulder. He says he has dislocated it and is still having problems. I let him know I'm sorry and I understand what he's going through... then I let him know about my situation and kindly ask for an update on my car. He goes back, and not even 30 seconds later he returns to say they cant get the tire off and the wheel hub needs replaced, and they cant do anything about it until monday. ...shocked by the news, and having the common sense and logic to know that it did not take them 3 hours to figure that out, I asked how long they have known and when someone was about to come out and tell me, rather than me having to ask about it 3 hours later (I didnt say it like that... rather I asked in a soft voice when they were going to tell me, is all) "Robbie" clearly did not like me asking that question! He screams and cusses at me yelling comments like "oh, you think you know better? Well, your car is fixed! Go back and take it! Get the f**** out of my shop!" ... once again, I am in pure shock, this time about the reaction I got from him. Before I could say another word he runs back into the shop. He comes back out and says "there! Your tire is filled! Get the f*** out of here or I'm calling the police!" .... Still filled with shock, I ask what I should do, and he says "why the f*** should I care? Its not my problem? Now get the f*** out of here!" (This next part shocked me more) so now I ho around back to move my car, problem still there but tire is filled, temporarily. I take a minute to look around to see what they did and what could be wrong. I try to get the attention of another worker, but he ignores me, and I try to get the attention of the nice worker I first saw and he ignores me! Finally one of them says "of you want to know, talk to him" pointing at "Robbie" who is even more outraged by me sitting there rather than leaving. I have zero clue where to go or what to do so I go to the front parking lot with my car to call my dad and see if there is anything I can figure out on my phone. Not even 5 minutes later, "Robbie" storms out of the front doors and screams at me "I told you to f**** leave! Get the f*** out of here, or I'm calling the cops!" I once again asl where I should go, and he says "I don't f**** care, its not my f**** problem! Now get your a*** f***** out of here!" I pull my car into the vacant gravel lot across the street and continue my search from there. My dad calls me back and says theres a mobile tire guy named Mark from Blythe (Jesse's Tire Shop is the business name) who was able to find the part I need in Palm Springs and is willing to drive out there, pick it up, and install it for me in Quartzsite. I waited another few hours and he shows up, is able to break off the lug nuts and install the new hub in 1.5 hours (thats how long it took to break the lug nuts!). I am going to leave a very nice review for Mark and Jesse's Tire Shop because they went above and beyond to help me whereas this American Custom Tire place didn't do anything to help me, insulted me, and left me out of luck while I am 1,000 miles from home. Of course I am summarizing how my experience went, and even forgot some details, but this pretty much tells the story if my experience and why this place should not exist. There are all kinds of reviews here for this place. This is my story and experience. We blew a tire some 20-miles past this spot. Where we were... was the middle of nowhere.. and i was calling around tire places to make sure i get towed to someone who has my tire size. Nobody, not one business. Since no one had my tire size and some would mention one guy who had my tire size but he was closed that day. Our tow truck said our insurance would only tow us to the closest place and this was it. On Yelp, it says they are opened till 6, when i called, the guy who answered seemed very inconvenienced by me and my asks- AND that they were closing at 5 today. It was 4 something- I was like- okay, so you are saying i gotta get there before 5. I could tell he was irritated that i was even considering coming but literally there was "No where" else to go. And my flatbed tow truck just arrived and was takinng me there anyways since they are the closest. I thought; get there, unload the car and put on the spare and drive "super slow" to the next big town. 100+ miles. We Get there- i jump into tow truck- who knows the guy and place he;s taking me and he's circling to figure out where to put my car. I go inside and it's dark and quiet and I am asking, "hello, hello? and this guy pops out from behind with big eyes, visibly irked that I am there and he's telling me that he's closing. He is turning and cursing and i am kind of frozen to his reaction manner. He says he's "closed up already- it's too late" and I said, "you said to get here before 5 and it was 15 minutes till." It was like a movie and really how he was acting put put a bit of fear in me. Not cool. He runs out frustrated- I think, he's wondering where my car has been put. A chill, quiet guy, from behind steps forward- I am apologizing,"i know you said you're closing early-i got here before 5pm. I see you guys are trying to get out of here. Can you just put on the spare and we;ll be out of here?" I didn't want to have an angry guy work on my car but this... is what it was- i just need the spare thrown on. It's 114 degrees and we have got to keep on moving. My car is on the side of the building. We empty the contents to - No spare tire! Doh! New Electric Car with no spare. We are stranded. There's nothing that can happen from this place or here today. Those guys leave and the calm guy mentions to my husband ~they can't have "every" size in stock, but he can put an order in by 7pm if we decide and he'd get it delivered in the morning from a tire delivery guy by 8am. Which we did do. Now what?!? we thought. Next thing, that chill guy calls my husband back and "was thinking do you need a ride? to a hotel?, there's really just one place so you should call and see if it's available and I could help you and your family with a ride over there." KINDNESS!! PREVAILS!!! This amazing guy saved us in a MOST thoughtful way. 114 degrees heat, we couldn't even think. We had a half bottle of water between 4 of us. By him giving us a ride and offering if we wanted to do a 2nd run of emptying the car..BLESS this LOVELY GUY! I want to say his name is David. We may travel the world over, here and there and really, the kindness of strangers that springs from an unlikely situation is just GOLD. Thank GOD for this guy! Good Juju for this guy, for this Great Deed. We were in a hotel and not schlepping stuff in the heat or sitting in the car figuring out what to do. He gave us food advice and he was spot on that tip too. The other guy had me fearful to even leave my car there and I would have left it at 1 star~ but this Kind Hearted soul restored my faith in humanity & his Customer Service. 4 stars! ~he went above and beyond. He called us in the morning when he had the new tires, estimated to us when it would be ready and the price was very fair for them being ordered and brought in. My Dealership later took a 2nd look before our long drive back and was like, Yeah, your tires and install looks great! So yeah, well done, great service. Must be hard if you are the only gig in town and when a tire blows and everyone relies on you, they seem to get backed up a lot and I think I came in at the end of an obviously record HOT LONG day and lots of Customers. I think they have to cut out their breaks for themselves or it'll never happen. So yeah, give these guys a break if you do come here and are quick to judge. First visit the service requested was the repair of a flat tire. The quality was a repaired flat tire. The value was it was $30-$30. The service was unfriendly. They barely talk. Second visit the service requested was a new tire to replace the flat tire. The quality of the new tire has been a working tire. The price was expensive, but not over expensive. Tires are a lot of money. The service was from a pissed off guy. He calmed down and did what I wanted done. He was the only person who was in charge, and left without any help except for the guys in the back changing tires. There is very little in the way of manners and politeness, but they are not overly rude. read more

Very rude behavior and mean impatient face from the person on duty, Robbie, who said he was the manager, when my husband entered the station from the back lot. He drove around to the front as instructed, but didn't hear the further instructions, angrily given by Robbie as he was walking away. After being kept waiting, my husband went in to check and was yelled at with: "I told you to get all passengers out of the vehicle and leave keys at the desk." This miscommunication escalated from insults, for not being able to follow instruction, to profanity on the part of both parties. I know my husband feels badly for not restraining himself. I feel badly for the attendant because he has a long day ahead in this hot weather, starting so early in the morning in such a bad mood. I wonder what he is planning to do with the pictures he took of our license plate before he yelled: "get off my property"?? We are now at Southern Tire Mart at Pilot, across the street, in the shade while their attendant and my husband are chatting about his truck etc, while he works. If you find yourself with a flat tire and you're in need of repair, this is the only place in Quartzsite that will work on cargo vans and smaller vehicles. Long story short, my tire was repaired pretty quickly (which I was grateful for) but left with a very negative experience at this place. Not only was I berated by the person helping me, they were over the top rude and combative. I was fine paying the extra fee to get help on the weekend, but this person very obviously didn't want to open up the shop. I don't know if he was having a bad day or what, but he seemed to have some anger issues. I'm laughing about it now, but at the time it was really off putting. Suffice to say, you don't have many options in Quartzsite and they know it, so any type of politeness or human decency goes out the window. The tire mech (I think name was Rigo) was great. But the fat guy (owner's son, I think) was a certified USDA Grade A Prime PRICK. I dropped off a flat on Tuesday to be fixed and reinstalled around noon the next day. I arrived, paid the $25 bill, and was told here's your tire; you're ready to go. I said I needed it to be put back on my vehicle as I was told would happen. Fat Guy acted like I was out of line to request what they had told me would be done (as do most, if not all, tire shops) and it would be about an hour to get on it. Luckily, about 20 minutes later, the mech had a little time to put my wheel/tire on. Only took a few minutes. Fat Guy came around and accused me of "jumping to the head of the line" ahead of other customers - which I obviously did not do. I had a 10:00 am appointment on 7-1-22 to get two new tires and bearings greased on my fifth wheel. After $580 and over 3 hours I was on the road. 10 hours later both passenger tires and rims flew off on I-10 at 65mph. All the lug nut studs sheared off due to them not being torqued properly. I'm a female disabled army veteran with ptsd. I spent 7 hours on the side of the road with semis flying by in the desert in New Mexico. I called to tell them what happened, and the owners response was "its not our problem, you're ten hours away, if you can't get here we can't help you, don't f#$in yell at me it's 6am" and hung up on me. 25 miles to the nearest town. Keeping this summary short in order to avoid high blood pressure, this video will tell you about my 'adventure' at a Quartzsite repair shop regarding my brakes. What is not on the video was the fact that when I finally got the go ahead to leave with my new brakes, the repair shop person told me the brake lines had collapsed because of a thicker grease used to pack the wheel bearings (prior) and that's what caused them to collapse. ??? I asked them then if they repacked the bearings in the correct viscosity of grease and he told me, "no" but replaced the lines. ??? (Why would you leave the same problem with new lines, unless of course it was a BS excuse for dinking around?) *He also told me that he didn't think that he would need to drive the RV to confirm the issues I originally told him about to make sure the issue was fixed correctly, the first time. What kind of shop doesn't do the due diligence to correctly diagnose the problem that the customer remarks about in the first place??? A different mechanic (with whom I've stayed in contact & not associated with this business), who had inspected the rig before I bought it, had done some undercarriage work to begin with regarding the steering, and had told me there was no grease/leaks on the underside of the vehicle agreed with me that it was a BS excuse. And instead of the original $650 + tax and shop supplies I was originally quoted, I left with a bill of $1,011.xx. I won't say which business it was, but if you're familiar with Quartzsite, AZ, and recognize both the backlot view of the shop as well as the mention of the restaurant name, located across the street, you'll know the business that took me on this little ride of crappy service. I'll add, prior to this appt, I paid this business $1600+ to put 6 new tires on this rig. They didn't screw that up, so I brought the RV in for brakes. From here on out, though, I wouldn't even bring a tricycle in for service at their establishment. Lastly, when I mention 'knowing my way around the law and insurance' on the video, had I still been there for a fourth night, points like city zoning laws (not having someone living in your backlot), and insurance policy terms including not having someone in your backlot, would have been brought up to the proper offices and authorities that deal with those issues, not to mention the AZ Consumer Protection, and the State AG for the basic jacking around of a customer. For people who are still willing to do business with this shop, I truly wish you the best and that you won't get jacked around like I did. TIMELINE OF EVENTS: 3/7/24 - I made the appt for 3/19/24 at 11am 3/19/24 - I arrive to the shop to be told that I wasn't entered into their calendar for an appt (the manager acknowledged that sometimes the older gentleman who answers the phones tends to forget to enter appts into their calendar.) So, rather than getting my brakes done, they 'fit me in' to diagnose it which took roughly 3 hours, and then was told he looked at it for 10 minutes to decide that it was just the front brakes and it would run me $650.00 3/26/24: I bring the RV in at 7:30-ish am so I'm prompt and they can start on it, right away, at 8am (as they said they would.) 3/28/24: Regarding the trip to Palm Springs to visit family, when I brought this up to David, with whom I had been dealing with the entire time, and who had been stringing me along, he flips it around and admonishes me, telling me that I'm being unfair to him for bringing up the fact that I'm missing Easter weekend with family members I haven't seen in 22 years. 'Shame on me' for trying to make him feel bad, when I was simply seeing if any of my plans could be salvaged. 3/29/24: I finally leave their lot a little after 12 noon. Bought a new (to me) RV, 31 ft, and was having nightmare with the tires, 3 valve stem and a blow out, needing to be in California the next night we stayed at the stagecoach motel and go to these folks first thing in the morning, the service was awesome and quick, the owner and employees were really nice and helpful, and the price was very reasonable, they got us on the road in with 2 new tires and all new valve stems customized to our tire setup. Ok check this out. I really want to talk to the owners after my visit here. I spent $1,230.00 on 4 tires. The tire pressure sensor got messed up when they installed my tires. I told Rob at the front desk yesterday and he got a attitude with me and finally ended the conversation by snatching the keys out of my hand and spitting on the ground. They turned the warning light off, and as I got a mile down the freeway it went on again. I took it back today and just our luck, my wife had to deal with Robby again This time he started yelling at her in front of customers and told us we just have a bad sensor. She came out upset...I decided not to go in and confront this assistant manager who seems to have a severe saliva problem..in 4 minutes of talking he seems to have to spit in a trash can behind the counter approximately 8 times. I called him after we left and he basically told me to come back and we could settle this like men. Wow..such a good representation of your business..I need 4 tires for my camper and you can be assured that this is to get last place I would go now. Everyone else in this company is great. He had his very first flat tire and lost the lock to his custom wheel, so the AAA tow truck guy couldn't take it off. I'm so glad I called around until I found this place. They can charge what they like coz have monopoly in town so we have no choice but to buy from them. From the moment I walked in they were so mean and unprofessional. David offered me $5 less if I paid cash. My credit card failed (I had card locked) but when I paid cash he charged me full amount! Horrible horrible ppl work there. Now that's taking advantage. Decided to keep driving to Quartzsite where I found this shop. Man reasonable prices and fast service. For all my truckers I'm an owner operator so I'm always looking for the good price. I am not trying to pay the big chain truck stop prices. read more

We had rented a large motorhome and were on the first leg of our trip. We fueled up in Quartzsite and had just got back on the freeway when both back tires on the same side blew out! The insurance that came with the RV required that we tow it somewhere to get it serviced, but the RV was too big to tow! AAA wouldn't help because we required "specialty tires". 5 calls later we found Robbie at American Custom Tire & Wheel. He was great! So competent. Understood exactly what we needed, had the tires we needed in stock, and had a jack powerful enough to lift the heavy RV. It took a little time for him to get there since he had 2 jobs to go before us, but he arrived as promised and fixed our 2 tires, in the dark, in 20 minutes without any hassle at all. Grabbed a mail in the hwy stopped at this place and the skinny dude named Robbie is the rudest tire customer service guy I've ever met.....walked in and immediately asked what did I want?!? not how could he help me the. told me I'm eating my lunch so it's gonna be at least 30 minutes before I do anything because I'm by myself which he wasn't cause someone else was ended up helping me....then came out when I was checking to see how f spare was same size and he said what are you doing and you can't change that tire here and I did everything in my power not to knock the 140lb guy out!!! Then the customer service guy who helped me (remember he said he was the only one) looked as if he was embarrassed and seen this guys act before and he was actually very helpful and nice. I payed $1200 00 for four new tires on rear of my 3500 Ram dually. Going down the freeway the truck swayed I have two other people who couldn't believe how the truck swayed. I took the truck to a well known front end alignment in Blythe they said it's the rear tires because they have had several one tons with the same problem. American discount tire lowered the tire pleasure to 50 that helped but now the tires will cup and when I haul a heavy load there is a chance of a blow out. Pulled in with our RV wanted to purchase 3 new tires after having a blow out on the road and they said they where on lunch break and we would have to wait. Then a semi truck pulled in behind us and they jumped on him, he has been gone 45 minutes and we are still here waiting!! I would say the are not very friendly to RV's here in Quartsite! I have a tire with a slow leak. I've been here 3 times trying to get it fixed. Trip #1 the guy behind the counter was very rude and seemed to be annoyed at the fact that I needed a tire repair. He told me that it would be 45 min before he could even look at the tire. I asked him if he could put some air in the tire and I'd come back when they weren't as busy. He told me to pull to bay 2 fir air. When I pulled to the back every bay was open except one and the guy that I had just spoke with was eating a breakfast burrito. I asked him what time should I come back he said between 3 & 4 pm. Trip #2 3pm the guy behind the counter (very nice guy) told me that he wasn't sure that they could get to me because they were really busy..... I could see that they were swamped so I told that I would just come back in the morning he told me to come as early as possible....No problem right? Trip# 3 I arrive at 7AM sharp no one showed up until almost 7:30 and it Mr bad attitude from the day before....he proceeded to tell me that I just walked thru the door and no one is here yet, the compressors are not fired up yet so I don't know when I can get your tire fixed. I called to have this company sell and mount 4 tires on my truck. They kept hanging up on me multiple times because I have a speech impediment from a combat wound. After asking to speak to someone else. They again hung up on me. Four phone calls later. I have up on them and will never again contact them. I will now travel 35 miles away to get tires. I will never go back to this place in my town of Quartzsite, AZ The person could here me just fine there but was just a very rude person. Don't waste your time there.
