I was initially extreme unhappy when I saw my mom's insurance statements. They were so high for auto and house. And because she is 75 years old and in poor health it infuriated me. So how does this turn from a one star to a five star? Well when I spoke to Mike Hadad and expressed my disappointment and anger, he was quick to take a look at her policies and trim as much fat and unnecessary coverage as he could. I'm a little embarrassed I didn't write a review for Americal sooner than today. I've been with them since 2001 (wow...that's a long time)! We just bought a new car and needed to call them to have it added to the policy. While on the phone with them I realized, they have consistently been there for me over the years with a great down-to-earth spirit that makes everyone in the office easy to talk to. They have been there for me through 4 different cars and a few fender benders. I have had auto policies with Americal for many years, and my home insured since 2011. The policies are of course written by large carriers (such as Mercury, etc). I've been a customer of Americal for over 22 years. I always enjoyed their great personalities, and professional attitude. I can't quite put my finger on it, but lately things are different. It seems like the girls have a broken spirit, not as happy. Even the attitude of the whole office has changed. It' really weird. I spoke to a young gentleman there, new I think. I was insured with mercury through another agent but felt like I was paying too much for my home and auto insurance. Low and behold, when I got my quote from Mike Jr., having to same coverage through the same insurance company, he was able to save me $1000 a year for the same exact coverage I had previously through a different agent. I'm writing this review on behalf of my wife. She was with Americal Insurance Group for about 10 years. She's a good driver so they found her a good rate. Recently, she was researching insurance coverage for our home and found another insurance provider with the same auto insurance coverage but at a lower rate for her car. (By the way, although she had an existing account with Americal, their quote was not the best she found for Home Owner's Insurance.) She called Americal Insurance and they couldn't beat the price so she cancelled with Americal Insurance and signed up with a new provider. Americal thanked her for her business and told her that a refund will be issued to her account for the payment that was already made for the following month. A month goes by and the refund didn't come. When Americal was contacted they told her that the cancellation is not finalized without a written statement. Someone at Americal FAILED to tell her that. So she agreed to email a written request and asked that the cancellation be effective from the date of the phone call. The agent assured her that she would take care of it. Another month as passed by and there is no refund and another bill came stating that there is a balance on the account. She emailed Americal Insurance Group and they stopped replying. This was they're mistake but they do not want to take responsibility. They're only good to you as long as they're making commission off of you. They're definitely not ever getting business from us ever again. read more
