I tried them for the first time because they open on Saturday and have a showroom. I like salesman Patty because of her expertise. Contacted people she has to file permits in the towns/villages. They will help take care the permit for you. Schedule the field visit to the measurements. Jane is definite the go to girl for installation issues and scheduling. Responds to text messages very prompt. Will accommodate your schedule. It's just simple and no nonsense. Price you pay for them to install is very reasonable. Some people just don't how much labor cost and how intensive the work is. The only issue is that I have to follow up on my own. read more

So I reached out to this company to remove a section of installed pvc fence and install swing gates for access to my yard from the other side of my house. The job was scheduled several times and no one ever showed up and I was not called or notified, just a no show. I had to reach out and ask what happened. I lost days at work " because someone needs to be home" so I take off and they don't show up. Then the guys finally show up to install the gates, don't even knock on my door to let me know they are here install the gates Leaving them about a foot off the ground so my dogs can get out. They stated it's because of a hill in my grass on the other side of the gate and I had said I'm going to dig that out I need the fence lower so my dogs can't crawl under. Why wasn't I asked? Why was a decision made for me? Then I'm told they can add a piece to the bottom of the gates to close up the gap. I agree depending on how it will look. Once again several appointments are made and no show once again. It has now been several weeks and they still have not shown up. I know this is a little nonsense job and they have made that known. In my business even the little guy gets treated like the big guy. I really don't understand how you treat a paying customer this way. How do you set up appointments and just not show up? No phone call or anything? Very poorly run, horrible service in my experience. Who knows when or if my gate will be fixed. read more

From Start to Finish this was a great experience!!! Amendola's Fence did a fabulous job. In a very timely manner a sales rep. came to our home. Cameron assessed our needs, made the best suggestions based on what we wanted to achieve and gave us an itemized quote so we could determine what to have done in accordance with our budget. The pricing was so fair, and the response time on the front end was so excellent we decided to go ahead with the complete job. I set up scheduling with Jane in the home office, within a few hours Josh called me and we were put on schedule. I could not believe that this project was going to be done before the beginning of April!!! The installation was completed in 1 day. The supervisor, Jose was a pleasure to deal with. His team was excellent. The fence looks just beautiful, and the property was left in very clean condition. UPDATE: i finally got my money back. It took over 60 days to get a refund, and it only happened after posting my review. They also said they had sent a hard check on august 4th, and I still haven't received it. So it sounds like they made some updates to their policy re: corner houses so their salesman can't blatantly lie to customers to make a sale. I appreciate the office for finally getting my money back but it doesn't change the fact that I'd never recommend them to anyone. *note: they take Yelp reviews pretty seriously there.* I've been putting off doing this review to give these guys a chance to make it right. Their salesman was HORRIBLE. He was pushy and he took advantage of us. We live on a corner property. We got quotes from multiple companies for a fence. We are getting a pool, and we have two large dogs so we wanted to increase the height of the fence, but since we are on a corner its difficult to get a permit (variance, etc). The Salesman swore UP and DOWN it wouldn't be an issue, so even though his quote was 1500 more than the other estimates (which all came in about the same price) we decided to go with them. He was reassuring that there was no problem with the variance and his "permit guy" would take care of it. fast forward six weeks later we finally get the "permit guy" to our house and he tells us no, that is not the case. He won't be filing the variance and its a lot of work so we should just do a 4 foot fence. Okay - but thats not what we want, and thats not what i'm paying for. We ONLY chose them because he SWORE he'd do the variance. Now, I dont fault the permit guy - not his fault. He was very nice. He told us the truth and was up front with us the entire time - so I really appreciate it. Now, we call the office to get our deposit back (3100). This was in the middle of June. They tell me they can refund the card, no problem. Okay cool. I wait four weeks, no refund. Call them back and they're shocked - let me try again...check in a week. no refund. Call them back AGAIN - now mind you, I'm past the second billing cycle; I hadn't paid the 3100 off my card because i anticipated a refund. I dont carry a balance because I hate paying interest. Will my card refund the interest? Probably, once the refund goes through. I call them back for our refund, still nothing. They say they'll cut a check and mail it...and here we are, over a week later and still no check. I thought they were being nice and reasonable to get our money back and its been one headache after another. if you dont have a corner property, i'm sure their fences are great, and their salesman, Michael, is a putz. read more

Amended 1/29/21 to note that the job has been completed. The company called me the day after this review was posted, and the work was completed the following week. We have a wood fence from Amendola installed in 2005. We've replaced many sections over the years as the wood degrades over time, as you would expect. What I didn't expect was the difference between their responsiveness to a sales order and their responsiveness to a repair request. They were quick to reply when I was spending thousands on a new sale. But it is a very different story when you need their help after that sale. Weeks, months, go by without response. Multiple phone calls, texts, emails - they clearly don't value the long-term relationship. They never follow up. Any progress with a repair is because I called or emailed AGAIN. I think they just hope you'll go away if there's a problem. Very disappointing. read more

You get what you pay for! Yes, Amendola Fence is not the cheapest fence company, but they are likely the best. We needed new vinyl fencing on the sides of our house and shopped various other fence companies on Long Island. Against the other legitimate fence contractors, they were more than competitive. The folks that mow your lawn will often quote to install fencing, but I have seen their work; usually very sad. Wow, Amendola's fence company's installers are true artists! My old Amendola fence (installed 20 years earlier) was destroyed when a large tree landed on it. My wife wanted the new fence to be installed while not cutting down three trees on the fence line. Cameron, the salesman came to the house and said the installers will figure out a way to build the fence while saving the trees. Boy, was he right! A picture is worth a thousands words. I had multiple terrible encounters with this company. Installing a simple fence around my pool turned into such a disaster of a situation that I will NEVER use them again. I honestly don't want to waste more of my time on them so I'll only include the worst of it... but every single step of the process after I signed the contract with them was absolutely terrible. They made mistake after mistake. They ruined our slate by cutting holes bigger than necessary and never filling them. They cut random unnecessary holes. They told me they would be here at a certain time and came 5 hours late, making me have to take off a second day of work to get the fence completed. When they screwed up the first time and had to completely remove the fence and start from scratch, they again showed up hours late and made me take a fourth day off to finish installing. They cut back unnecessary bushes and flower beds, and removed unnecessary bricks without telling me first. I don't even know how, but they crushed a lawn figurine I had in the grass and threw it behind a bush so I wouldn't notice. They left dried cement all over the pavers. They even ruined our hose doing their work. Jason, the main contact guy, gave us the wrong warranty paperwork and stopped returning my phone calls and emails for MONTHS. FOUR months after the fence was installed a manager finally got back to me with the correct warranty because they wanted payment of the remaining balance. I cannot warn others enough- this was the absolute worst company to work with. Do so at your own risk. read more

Amendola installed our first fence in 1989. After 32 years, we were ready to replace our cedar fence with a six feet vinyl fence. It took a very long time because we had to get a variance from the town, but the fence was finally installed. When you buy a fence from Amendola's, you are dealing with a company that is fully licensed in Nassau County, which is very important if you have a problem. The person who measured said my posts were level......the installers said they were not level. Does anyone know who owns this company? Who is the BOSS? as far as fence installation they were fine. but as far as service after fence installation and guaranteeing their work!!! a big fat no good!!!!! had a fence put in two years ago and a big gate by driveway and the gate completely fell apart and they told me so sorry we dont guarantee gates to last more than 12 weeks !!!!!!! so now it has cost me $1000.00 to fix gate and they gave me a date and then never called with time to install when i called in the mrning they still never retured call as to confirmation they were coming with time so if you can find a fence company that stands behind their work!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I agree with Eric G...they are such a pleasure until they make the sale and then it is all downhill. We had them do a fence for us and spent over $5000. At that time, we did not finish the whole yard. We had one section left and expressed that we would complete it once we were financially able. (They did not like that answer). We were given a price by their son and he promised he would personally take care of us when we were ready to do the last section. SO we called about a year and a half later and suddenly the price went up another $1000 from the original amount!! We were told by "Patty", times change, so do prices. We explained that we had already gotten the amount and just needed to complete the job. We were then rushed off the phone and told that "Jason" would call us back. Also, we mentioned that part of the fence was warped and several caps disappeared. Well, that was 3 weeks ago!!! It is disgusting how they treat people once they have their money. Also, the locking gate we paid extra for is already rusting in less than 2 years and the gate SLAMS shut. We needed to repair it, on our own, so our child and puppy weren't crushed! We had hoped all of this would be fixed when they completed the job but since no one there cares, I guess we are at a loss. There are so many other fence companies (that Amendola will talk negative about) I would steer clear from them and find a company that cares about their customers. Had roughly 40 feet of PVC fence with a gate installed by Amendolas. Workers arrived on time and were neat and respectfully. I did have an issue where one of the workers leaned a few of the fence panels against my house and brand new round gutter downspout causing a dent. When I asked him to move the panels one of them slid down causing additional damage to the bent piece that meets the ground. Although an inconvenience that could have been avoided, I understand they didn't do it on purpose and Amendolas did make it right by crediting me the amount I requested so I could make the repairs. Besides that hiccup, the workers did a good job with the install, making sure to keep all of the panels level as I requested. I will be using Amendola's again in the future to finish off the rest of my property. read more

To say I was displeased with this company is an understatemen. When the salesman Mike came over he sold me lies. First the date he stated the job would begin was incorrect and I was pushed back a week, the day before I was scheduled I was told they Needed another day as they were waiting on parts. When the crew came and began work I saw that no poles or cement were being put into every post as the sale man stated and was why I went with this company. The crew in addition to DESTROYING my yard did not even go to my property line. They ended my fence 6 inches before my line. Apparently they didn't want to drill 6 holes into cement that was under the dirt. They decided to do what was easier for them. I told them to leave the debris of dirt and rock in a pile to dispose of BUT they did not listen and spread it all over my yard!! If to add further injury they also pulled a wheelbarrow over my garden edging and broke it. Upon completion when We looked at fence we saw that every panel and post was scratched. We called and complained about above mentioned and were told a engineer would come to view the work on the weekend. When the engineer arrived he saw all the damag and said a new crew would come out to move the fence to my property line as well as remove all scratched pieces. We only had them replace 1 post that was improperly installed. We had them move the fence to property line. The crew used lacquer thinner to remove the scratches but I stopped them as I felt this would not be good for the plastic pvc fence. We did receive a small discount on our fence however it did not cover the heartache, manual labor we had to do to fix our yard or the extra money we needed to spend to fix the company's mistake. I am sure the company won't be pleased with this review however I feel it necessary to let others know about our bad experience. They should be happy I didn't post photos! read more

we decided to upgrade our property since we weren't traveling much ...Our fence was on its last POST so to speak - I interviewed many fence companies and I have to be honest they were all aweful had no customer service and one tried to even raise the price after I called him back to give deposit ....Literally hopeless. My Landscaper said try Amendola's. I called and the sales person came out gave me a price and took measurements. Quick and Painless... Decided to book it ....from then on I dealt with Jane. EASY PEASY --- no muss no fuss ....COVID has made alot of materials hard to get and staff as well ...They were honest in telling me HEY its going to be some months ...worked out perfect for me since my pavers weren't done yet. I ordered in APRIL and was just installed last week. Jane was professional and friendly and kept me up to date with everything. Emailed me the contract -emailed me the receipt. The installers were amazing. asked questions, retrofitted some pieces -they were nice and friendly and got the job done. My fence is beautiful and it took a little bit but I never felt out of touch through the entire process .....My experience was nothing short of seamless ....Thank you JANE and thank you Amendolas !! read more

Amendola installed a fence with a walkthrough gate on one side of the house and a driveway gate on the other. After 2 years of normal use the weld on one side of the driveway gate failed. Amendola wanted almost $700 for the repair when the cost of the whole project was $2500 and included more than 20 feet of fence, a walkthrough gate, and two sides of a driveway gate. They manufacture their own stuff so that's likely a 400% markup on replacing a product they make that doesn't last. I fixed it myself with $15 worth of metal bracing from lowes. They make a crap product and don't stand behind it. read more

We just had a PVC fence installed last week and are extremely satisfied with Amendola's Fence. Their fence quality is excellent and sturdy, and their price was competitive to the other companies we considered. They installed less than two weeks after signing the contract, with no delays. The installation crew was very friendly and did an excellent job. I was worried that there would be issues since our property has so many trees along the perimeter and it slopes. Amendola of Baldwin installed our fence 15 years ago; it went well. When recently I asked Amendola, now in Amityville, to replace old gates and do repairs, they said they'd have to charge $100 for a "field inspection" aka estimate. When I questioned such an unusual practice, Anthony, who managed our service, said the company could not afford to use their gas to come to my home. BUT if I hired them for the work, they would gladly apply the $100 spent to the order. So I paid the $100 estimate on my charge card. Gone. Then I get my Amendola work order adding in a NEW $100 estimate fee and taking the NEW $100 estimate fee off at the end of the bill. They added and subtracted NEW money, and never deducted what I had already paid. As an accountant, my husband understood the error and complained. After much back and force, Anthony said that he could possibly get approval to give us a $100 discount! OMG! A discount it was not. They needed to apply the estimate fee! Roll forward to this day of the repair. My early service request--scheduled 4 weeks ago--would not be honored. In fact, i'd be last, STARTING between 3 and 5 pm on a Friday. My request did not matter. Everyone wants morning so why should I be special. The more distant jobs come first. BUT he said, I was getting everything I wanted, even a $100 discount! They are nutty. I am NY born and bred and can deal with a crusty personality, but this guy is just a complete d**k. He is adequate until the deal is sealed but after the fact - just, well, I don't even have words. Products are good. Customer service is the worse. Just bought the stuff and installed my self. The worst people to deal with. first the salesman Peter is totally lost. spoke to him 3 different times and after getting nowhere decided to stop in and see him face to face and swore up and down he never spoke to me. Said I must of spoke to someone else not him. I told him it was impossible because my name is Peter as well and how could I forget his name. then he goes in his files and finds all my information and said it was not his handwriting. obviously lying and I asked for another sales person. the manager Jay got involved at one point and to be honest he was more incompetent than the sales man. then was totally rude and dismissed me like he had no idea what was going on. I wonder if Bob Amendola the owner knows how returning customers are being treated. our first project was a $10,000 fence and had no problem. they also got 4 other jobs off our fence from our neighbors because of us. I guess the smaller job we needed done didn't matter because they have more important jobs going on and figure if they ignore you, you will either wait for them or just go away.
