The iMax theater is the best in the area when it comes to screen size and audio however the theater seating is extremely outdated and unfortunately not worth the high ticket price unless you are really eager to see the movie. My family and I came to see the new movie Michael and we were having a great time and this is our home theater, but not for long. To begin, their soda machines are watered down. I talked to the manager and she said "yeah they are. Sorry about that. We tried fixing it and no luck." It's sad the that theater can't get soda right in a new kiosk machine. Might want to sit down for this! While watching the movie, the small wall divider that separates the row you're in with the row in front of you had a cockroach run across it. The theater is dark but with the bright screen glare reflecting off the glossy mini wall paint it was clear as day! We will not be coming back to this theater after today. It was a pretty average experience when compared to my go-to movie theater. I also don't really like that they pre-fill the popcorn here and not knowing which one is fresh or has been sitting out the longest. It's connected to the mall, so you can conveniently go shopping or get some food before or after your movie, which is nice. read more

I really love the quaintness of this theater! It's not the fanciest and feels like it was one of those AMC's. That got upgraded a long time ago, but it's still clean and well taken care of. The sound and picture quality were great and the staff was really friendly. Like I said, this is kind of a no-frills atmosphere, but has a small McGuffins and your usual concessions and is clean with some smaller theaters and an IMAX theater. Parking is really convenient and was great to just go down and escalator to our car when the movie was over. read more

Didn't care for this location. For starters the reclining seats have zero room for walking space. If someone would need to get by you would have to put your seat down for them. Luckily for us we were literally the only ppl in the theater. 2nd the popcorn was terrible. Its not freshly popped they have it pre-placed in the buckets & sitting out & it tastes stale. Which is absolutely ridiculous considering the cost of popcorn these days. The only plus I saw was that the bar was open. We didnt purchase anything. The parking garage is huge and it tells you how many spots are left as well as which ones are open (green light) or are for those who can have the handicap spots (blue light). Just make sure you are at the right theater bc there are 2 AMCs in this Oakbrook Center (AMC 4 and 12). Just be careful. The seats recline and are very comfortable. It's not a dine in theater. The theater is nice, modern, and has all the stations for food, drinks, condiments, and a rest area w tables before you go inside to the auditoriums. But the parking lot is big and confusing and the 2 theaters make it more confusing. I would say combine them into 1 to reduce the confusion. read more

I recently went to the AMC IMAX theater, and honestly, it was such a disappointment. The experience felt more like a letdown than the premium outing I expected. For starters, the theater isn't being maintained at all--some of the chairs were torn and felt uncomfortable, which really takes away from the whole "immersive experience" they promise. Overall, it feels like AMC is just coasting by on their name without putting in the effort to deliver the quality their customers deserve. Definitely makes me think twice about going back for an IMAX screening anytime soon even though i am a Premiere member. And whats worse is the annual price is going up 2$. read more

My family and I arrived at AMC 12 in Oak Brook, IL today for a 12:30pm show. When we went into the theater, we found our row was not there. Talking to the staff, and the on shift manager, Zach, we found out not only was the theater switched but so was the time. This made us 45mins early for a movie on Father's Day. In my vast moviegoing experience, this is by far the best AMC location we've visited in the Midwest (at the time I'm leaving this review). It's hard to top the AMCs of the Chicago suburbs (unless you're visiting the east or west coast). We were visiting the Oakbrook area and popped in here on a Friday afternoon for a 12pm showing of the latest Thor movie. Upon entering AMC we were greeted by our ticket taker and headed to the concession area. (Buy your tickets online or via the app ahead of time so you don't have to wait in line.) The concession area was clean and well-stocked. They did have some signs posted that mentioned supply issues and being out-of-stock on some items. Not sure what they were because there was so much to choose from. I'm used to the AMC paper buckets for large popcorn orders, but they didn't have them at this location. Just large bags. We didn't get a refill. The movie theater itself was extremely clean and all seats reclined. This was our first time in a theater where all the seats reclined. Nice. There were about 20 people total in the theater. No one sitting next to us or in front/behind us which was also nice. Sound and picture quality were all excellent, too. One thing I really appreciated as we were leaving was the fact that all guests cleaned up after themselves. Except for the occasional popcorn kernel there wasn't too much on the ground that needed to be swept up by staff. This is quite a stark difference from the lazy individuals in my home state who can't seem to figure out how to dispose of their trash after a movie. Use the mall parking ramp and take the escalator up to the entrance of AMC. Free parking. Highly recommend if you're in the western 'burbs. read more

The recliners are spacious and cozy and the screen in our small theatre was surprisingly big!! Parking is free, but I accidentally parked really far away. I had a hard time navigating the correct location and entrance, and ended up sprinting .8 miles across/around the mall since my GPS took me to the old, closed theatre. But once I found this place (enter via escalators in purple parking structure) it was a good experience. Except for the concessions. My friend had bought us popcorn before I arrived ($10) and I wanted to grab a soda, so I went to stand in line, behind nearly 20 other people. There are 2 lines: one for VIP folks, one for normal folks like me. My line barely budged and I was afraid I'd miss the start of the film, so I bailed on my Diet Coke, sadly. The popcorn was really good. Matinee shows are a bit cheaper. I think I paid $8.75 each, plus convenience fee to book in advance. You get to select your seat location, which was a nice perk. If you want a small snippet of how the world will be under rule of the youngest able to work generation who will one day grow up, COME HERE ASAP. It is a pigsty here, a filthy, unmanaged TRASH HOLE. There's garbage everywhere, NOTHING is refilled from lids to napkins, etc. The "workers" sit around in small groups talking to each other letting the malaise of TRASH, idiocracy, and distorder to exist. I HATE when workers aren't working and there's obvious work to be done, yet they leave things as a trash heap, which they probably do in their parents' basement in which they fester in. The bathrooms aren't cleaned, and it's just a $hit show pardon my French for being real, which is a part of me not being "Elite" on Yelp tho I'm Super Saiyan so IDGAF. Worst professional theater I've been to, EVER. ALL Marcus Theaters are better by far, and probably all other AMCs tho I don't frequent them. Bathrooms were disgusting, two toilets did not flush but were being used continuously, overflowing onto the floor. Garbage cans at the drink station and on the way out of the theater were overflowing and for the price you think they could at least keep it clean. Will NEVER go back to oakbrook 12. read more

My favorite movie theater location in the Chicago area, AMC and others. The location is fantastic. Right off of 88, and 355 it's an easy drive from nearly any direction. Once you are there, the parking garage being situated directly under the theater makes parking easy every time regardless if it's sunny or storming. If you get there early, tons of options for activities or food such as the nearby Potbelly's or the always scenic walk around the mall. Don't get this confused with Oakbrook Center 4 in the back rooms of the mall that I'm not really sure has a reason to still exist. Ive always had good experiences with the staff, and check in always goes smooth. Note: they WILL card you for A-list. I usually just see Dolby theater which has massive seats and a pretty impressive screen. It does seem to be a fair bit bigger than the Dolby in Naperville. Some other standard theaters here have the large recliners but not all. Overall this is a fantastic theater that I've gone to for several years and with A-List I plan to keep coming here with regularity for years to come. In part this is due to me not being lucky enough to have an AMC within 45 minutes, but other theaters don't have such a great mall with so much to do directly attached. read more

Randomly decided to go catch the new Jordan Peele movie, NOPE with my partner. Booked in Oak Brook, however this isn't our go to theatre. I arrived at center 4 parking garage as described our ticket confirmation and gps. Full warning, this theatre isn't that easy to find. A lady sitting outside had to tell us where to go, after looking for the theatre for a few minutes. Arrived at the AMC, and was advised by an associate that we were still at the wrong location and we needed to take a 5 min walk through the outdoor mall to the other theatre. At this point we were a bit irritated. Arrived at center 12 and there were no associate at the door, the staff at the concession stand weren't clear on who was there for A-List and instead called out next customer... this lead to minor arguments amongst patrons about being a list and no verification done on the staffs end. Which was just an added layer of irritation. After ordering staff weren't complete clear on orders. Things just seemed chaotic. Arrived to our theatre. The seats were very small, uncomfortable, and made noise each time you would move. The movie was great, however this isn't the experience I expected. read more

Came here for a Friday movie at 4 pm. The place wasn't too packed so the concession line was very short. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. The theater was clean although the chairs are definitely a little worn from years of use. I will say with the upgraded recliner seat theater, a ticket cost me $24...I know this isn't a reflection of this specific theater, but just be prepared to pre-buy your seat so that you get the best view. I will say the location in the mall was nice so that you can spend some time shopping before and after. read more

I like this theater pretty well. It has 12 auditoriums, but it's got a a tiny footprint. I don't know how they work that magic, but they do. I think this place is smaller than the Norridge theater, which has half as many screens. There's an Oakbrook 4 and an Oakbrook 12, and I think the smaller one is on the other side of the shopping center. This one is on the third floor, near the food court. When you walk into the theater, there's a left and a right wing with the concessions stand right in the middle. The left wing contains theaters 1-6, with theater 1 starting on the left side of the left wing and then the numbers go sequentially in a clockwise fashion with theater 6 across from 1. Similarly, the right wing has theaters 7-12, with theaters 7 and 12 nearest the entrance. The theater has a Dolby theater--theater 6, in the left wing; it's the first theater you come to on that side. There's also an IMAX theater, in the right wing (theater 7). Restrooms (women, men, and family) are in both wings. If you have to go, don't wait--I often encounter a line here for some reason. Another problem is that I can almost NEVER get mobile service at this theater, even when I try to get onto the AMC Stubs wifi. Just about the moment you walk into the theater it doesn't work. I have watched YouTube videos in the parking structure beneath the theater, but get error messages whenever I try to use my phone inside it (not during the movies, of course). Very weird, and pretty annoying when I don't remember to bring my Kindle or something since I try to get here about 20 minutes before the movie begins. All in all, this is one of the better AMC Theaters in the city and suburbs. It's relatively clean most of the time; the small footprint I mentioned instead of being a 20 acre wasteland; and parking isn't bad and is directly beneath the theater. I'd just add an FYI that the Dolby theater is pretty steep, so don't plan to sit in row K or something if you've got a sprained ankle or any other kind of mobility issue. read more

There was popcorn all over the floors and chairs of the theatre and the cup holders had caked up gunk in them that looked like a petri dish in a high school biology class. We have been here a few times. On our last visit here last weekend, we weren't very impressed with this theater. While the seats are comfy and the theater itself was pretty clean, the concessions was lacking attention. They were out of cup lids and only had one butter dispenser working. The popcorn was cold and not worth the $14. The concessions staff weren't busy so there's really no excuse for this. Also, there were WAY too many ads and previews before the movie. Went to see The Brutalist at a 1:00 showtime. I've been conditioned for years to put up with achingly long trailer packages. They were once 15 mins- then they became 25- now, they're nearly 35 mins. To avoid them, I try to get to the theater 10 to 20 mins after the listed showtime. That always gets me there with only having to watch 2-3 trailers (plus the AMC ads) before the film begins. However, I arrived at The Brutalist at 1:10 and the film had already started. Wth. So every movie gets thirty minutes of trailers played before them except this one?! Missed the first 10 minutes of one of my most anticipated movies. All the theater has to do is let people know at the time of purchase that the film will start at the listed time. As if the concession prices aren't already overpriced, it's very inconsiderate of them to mislead people like this. read more

Love this theatre as it's usually not overcrowded. Sometimes there is a wait in the concession stand area due to slow service and less cashiers. Theaters are usually clean and comfortable. Bathroom is easily accessible but can use a few check ins by staff randomly for pick up purposes. Bar area is convenient and courteous. The app is super convenient if you don't want to be bothered with kiosk. Parking easy and a mall to walk around before or after your movie with decent shopping and food options. We went to the IMAX theater on 11.29.30 to see Gladiator II. The seats looked old and cracked and did not recline. This theater looked like it needed an overhaul immediately. In addition, 4/6 of the urinals in the men's bathroom were out of service. Unacceptable. read more

This is one of my neighborhood AMC theater. I like going here as it's attach to the Oakbrook mall and near the food court. The checkin Entrance is pretty quick. I typically use fandango to amc to buy my tickets do scanning is quick. There's plenty of parking and it a fairly new theater. I'm a vip PERMIER club member so they do recognize my status when I'm in permier line to pay for my food even though the other line is longer. There is a waiting area that has TVs and a bar for adult drinks. It's a good area to wait for others or just to enjoy a drink or two. The staff is friendly and the food stations are pretty clean when I'm there. The restrooms are also pretty much the same food amount of stalls and it's stocked as needed. I hate stalls with no toilet paper! The seats are recliner seats and the overall movie experience is pretty good. I'd go back here again. read more

Nice! Very convenient. Lots of parking. The theater is new (or newer), very clean, and located in an entertainment area at the mall that gives you access to some nice places to grab a snack. I am pleased that they carry some foreign films at this location. At this point, I noticed they had a few Japanese films. (I have seen two there so far.) I will update later if I notice others. (Note: some AMCs in and around Chicago are known to specialize in various foreign films: Indian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, etc. So check the AMC website for a broader picture of what is available instead of just looking at a particular theater.) This might be my new favorite AMC in the Chicago area. Parking is FANTASTIC. There is a garage on the North East side of the mall. If you park there you can take and escalator or elevator (inside parking garage on the West side) and arrive right in front of the theater. Twice I was able to park right across from the escalator and go right up. DO NOT LEAVE THE GARAGE. If you do, you will walk all around for blocks to get in. DO NOT USE YOUR MAP APP on YOUR PHONE! This AMC is huge! I love how updated and clean it is. We drove out of cook county to this location. They are still accepting non vaccinated people ( mask mandate still enforced). The leather red recliner seats add to the updated feel. I appreciate not having to seat in butter covered seats ( aka my childhood in the 90s). Nice theater, on top level of parking garage at Oakbrook Center, so plenty of parking Being a parking garage nice for inclement weather or hot sunny days because you can park out of direct weather. Nice lobby , there is a full bar located in tje lobby as well as food concession stand. There are coke a cola freestyle machines so ypu can customize softdrinks to your preferences. Stadium seating with power recliners, very good sound system too. There is also dinning options just outside theater if you wish to eat before or after a movie. There are family restrooms available The restrooms are a bit small for a theater this large so there might be a short wait. Clean, courteous helpful staff. Overall a pleasant experience read more

DOLBY & IMAX I use to work at the AMC 17 Yorktown about 15 years ago (currently named AMC 18) Took a while for me to warm up to this location, but it wasn't until I started realizing what I don't like about the other AMC's that made me start to really like this one. Dolby - Not all AMC have Dolby. this location does (only one theater though) Usually reserved for the "hottest/Newest" movie that just came out. Short Version the image quality is better than "digital" which is what 90% of most shows are these days. The Sound is amazing as well..think of it as having your own sub-woofer (Bass) in your seat. Action movies is where Dolby really shines. However expect to pay a nice price for the feature. Currently about $16.50 for an evening movie AMC A-List - 3 movie reservations a week to ANY AMC (most) for $22 a month and online fee is waived (IL price) This can be worth it....if you go to the show a lot. The catch is you have to stay on 3 months. When you drop it, you can't get back on for 6 months. So depending on what's being release and how much you see yourself going. It can save you. Do to the cost of Dolby and the online fee that comes with it Watching 1 movie a month is basically worth it but maybe you only go on $6 Tuesdays. (shrugs) Fandango - Just recently found out I can reserve the movies the same way just through the Fandango app. Fandango gives you a $5 credit for ever 4 tickets bought that can be used for $5 off your next show or as a digital movie rental/download online. Seating - I like the seating at AMC 12. However, I think the seats should be like all the Dolby seats with the light up button on the side. I'm personal not a fan of the AMC Dine-In experience at other locations. Find it annoying when people bring food. I find the light on the side to be annoying to as I want it mostly dark but than again I usually sit in the middle and don't notice that. At first I use to like the food trays that was on each seat for the AMC Dine-In experience as it gave you more access to drop the candy, popcorn, pop etc. As a person that uses the closed caption device provided by AMC. The table sits much higher up vs the cup holder. So device becomes a pain to have to wiggle into a good position. Parking - Most days I park on the first floor right underneath and take the elevator up. P.S. 20 min in trailers are shown before each show... which give you sometime to run to the food court right outside and sneak in your fav Stan's Donuts or Potbelly sandwich. read more
