The most ghetto movie theatre went try to see obsession last night with all 4 out of 5 of my kids and they didn't want to let minor kids go in with me. We had to watch Star Wars which it was a great movie. I just didn't like the attitude of anyone working in this establishment from the cashier to the manager to the ticket guy. Like we were an inconvenience when we paying for the damn tickets and got a ton of concessions. The experience was horrible to change tickets to a different movie. The girls was with a whole attitude from Her hands to her body language lil young girl "so what are we doing? We changing the movie or getting a refund"? " just disgusting asked for the manager she said it was fine as long as me the parent was there for the rated r movie. When a film is not rated (NR) please make it clear that the film is in fact a rated R movie like how these people tried to tell me to my face that I cannot go watch the movie because i'm not 18 with my girlfriend who is also 18. Then I ask for a refund because of the disrespect in itself then they tell me I cannot get a refund and instead could get a gift card just because I didn't have my physical card with me because I paid with apple pay. Why can they not give me cash?! So then they proceed to give me a gift card instead of giving me a refund. Absolutely terrible customer service and sad case for these employees. It's been awhile since I've been to the movies and so much has changed. Not liking it as much. We didn't have to wait outside to buy tickets , we bought our tickets inside and now you pay for certain seats. Not just any seat. You decide where you want to sit before you go inside. That's new. (For me) We bought drinks and popcorn. The only thing now is they take your money and give your popcorn. Almost everything else is self serve. Some good things some not so much. read more

This movie theater is completely banking on the fact that it is the only theater in the Houma area and has otherwise given up on life. The place is a dump. It's always dirty and smells a little fonky. Bathrooms are a mess, theaters are not kept up. Prices would be fair if cleanliness and details matched other AMCs. It's large enough to accommodate the most recent blockbusters, so there's that, I guess. Overall, I have decided to forgo the big screen and just wait for the flicks to come out in Redbox. read more

It's all appearances.... The AMC theater is rundown not up to the usual high standards as other locations . The exterior seems it has needed been maintained, a little TLC is needed for the structural appearance and some landscaping work to be done. Personnel inside the theater were awesome. Seats were broken. There was a leak in the theater. It smelled like wet dog (there were only four other people in the theater-- it was definitely the theater itself). It was my first time in a movie theater in years. I wasn't expecting a five-star movie experience but I was expecting to be comfortable. Generally speaking, I won't fork over money to go watch movies and be uncomfortable. The experience here makes me never want to go back to a theater again. (But on the recommendation of my friend Re, I think I will hold out for Canal Palace.) Until then, I will abstain from ever going to the AMC movie theater again. On the plus side, the manager has given me free tickets to go back. Which I will never use. Even if they are free. Mostly because instead of solving the humidity/mold problem, you know by using humidifiers or simply leaving the A/C on, the company is consulting a chemical company to take care of the humidity. Thanks but no thanks. (Don't get me wrong, I don't expect companies to be chemical free but when something such as humidity is a problem, it seems to me to solve the problem not cover it up with more chemicals. And worry not, I will be telling the manager the same thing in my email.) Just because you, AMC, closed down all the local theaters (and now have a monopoly on the theater business in the tri-parish area, it doesn't give you the right to suck!! Just sayin'. But the manager did send me an email offering to refund the cost of our tickets-- I mean give us free tickets to see more movies in the damp, broken seated theater. So I am considering giving a star back . . . . but the experience was so uncomfortable, I'm afraid there are no half stars to award. So it stays at two. I don't go to the movies often maybe once a year. I have never gotten a broken seat (that I can remember) as others have complained of. This is the first time I have noticed the horrible smell but this is also the first movie I've been to here in....a year or more. THEATER 5 REAKS OF URINE first step in the theater and it hits you I was hoping maybe it was something In the trash can by the door and wouldn't be as strong in the open theater. I was wrong the smell is in the entire theater. So I pay 12.75 per ticket to sit in a theater that smells like pee feeling disgusting and afraid to touch anything. Forget munching on any snacks you may have brought or traded a limb for at the sticky trash covered concession counter unless you like a side of urine. Maybe it was the (musty/wet dog smell others have complained about). If I had gone to one of the "dollar" cinemas I would expect to be prying my shoes off the floor with a crow bar but not at a "regular" theater. I would rather take a drive to Nola and actually enjoy the movie. My husband and I were super disappointed I doubt we will return. read more

I'll admit we don't go to the movies enough.....This is the only theatre in my area so this is the place......The theatre is clean enough, but i've noticed a couple of the threatres have that old funky smell to them....and I'm not sure why they still have that lame game area....(save your money for the Peppers kiddy area, if you must)....I guess they tried the whole coffee cafe thing, but I've looked and it just doesn't do it for me....(You want cool and hip, go to the Canal street theatres-no kids aloud as they serve alcohol).....overall it's fine as that's what we have...sneak your treats in and if you need a drink order the small...it's a typical large in most fast food joints... read more

The place is popular since it is the only place to watch movies in the area. However, it is no thrills and don't expect to find anything other than the blockbusters. If you want to watch the artsy, foreign, or Oscar type movies, you will have to go to New Orleans. The AMC in Houma is only for the mainstream. My wife and I went today at 11:15am and were disappointed from the moment we opened the door. We are Premiere Stubs members. Every single customer, about 45 people were in the Premiere Stubs ticket line. Really?! Where were the employees letting people know there are two different lines? We finally got our tickets and made our way to concessions. Again everyone was in the Premiere Stubs concessions line. I was fuming but couldn't find an employee to ask them what was the problem. After we got our popcorn and drink cup we made our way to get a fountain drink while stepping over trash on the floor. Coke Zero Cherry for us. Yum! NOPE...out of the 7 or 8 possible Coke products only 1 was available. Really?! What are the owner, manager, employees doing? What time do they arrive to make sure they are ready for my business? For my money? For me the customer? Why am I paying extra for my Premiere Stubs membership if I'm not being treated as a Premiere Stubs member? Very disappointing. For the high price paid for popcorn, one would expect a much better experience. The arcade is outdated, carpeting is faded & stained in many places, the bathrooms are too small, and the employees don't seem to like working there. The theaters themselves all seems to have a slight odor. The other day I watched Jurassic World in 3D, but I was bugged the whole movie because the screen seemed to have a dark, faded mark on it about 1/3 from the bottom that went all the way across the screen. We went to see The Snowman yesterday in theater 8 which began at 2:30. Ten minutes prior to that at 2:20, the clean up gal turned on the lights, came in with her broom and dustpan and scolded everyone for not waiting until the cleaning was done first. There was no sign saying it needed to be cleaned and why did she wait so long? Is everyone supposed to wait with popcorn and drinks in hand STANDING out in the hall until SHE is ready to do her job? How dare she talk to the customers this way? She was rude before a few months ago. She seems like she is angry at the world. The ticket gal kept making mistakes with the 3 ladies ahead of us, issuing wrong tickets and then asking them to give them back to her so she can tear the stubs off. We frequent the AMC theaters and are always happy with the business. Movie theaters all have over priced popcorn and drinks but we enjoy our experience of seeng movies in a theater versus staying home. We can count on an AMC theater to offer a consistent movie experience regardless of location. We enjoy the Baton Rouge Mall location and don't think twice about choosing a movie at that location. read more

A recent visit to this horrendous establishment left me with wet clothes thanks to the leaking ceiling throughout the entire movie. When I tried switching seats to avoid the downpour coming from the ceiling I found myself sitting in a broken chair. Do yourself a favor and avoid this movie theater at all costs. Tickets and concessions are way over priced! Public safety is my number one concern when visiting an AMC theater. With the recent rise in theater shootings, the best solution AMC can offer is an ad campaign to 'educate' people on where the nearest exit is! As a conceal handgun permit holder, I feel discriminated against when I walk into an AMC theater. They take away my right to defend myself by posting a 'gun-free zone' sticker on the entrances. In turn, making all the innocent people inside sitting ducks for criminals to commit mass murder. AMC really needs to rethink it's gun free policy! read more

Awful customer service! First they messed up on my ticket times and when I go to ask an employee I'm told I have to wait in line to purchase an more expensive ticket to see a movie that already started when it was the employees fault. Never return again I'll just stick to the small town cheaper theater that are way clear and have a better selection of concession for reasonable prices. read more

Hubby and I went to see Rogue One 12/23/16, went to get popcorn and soda's and asked the guy behind counter for the 2 drinks and 1 popcorn combo. I paid him then he handed me ONE cup for a drink and said that he charged me for the WRONG combo...then proceeded to tell me that the exta soda would be an ADDITIONAL $6.00 plus tax...WTH!!! Why should I have to be the one to PAY for his mistake??? I asked him, more than once for the 2 drinks and 1 popcorn combo...ANDY why are the snacks SO EXPENSIVE??? I agree with the lady from Central Lafourche that the Palace is somewhere around three stars at best. What I want to ask how it is that a film that was shot right here in our parish could go on to win the top prize for drama at the Sundance Film Festival, but isn't worthy enough to be shown on just one of the ten screens here in Houma during its opening week of release? "Beasts of the Southern Wild" was filmed, at least partially, in southern Terrebonne Parish. Google it and you'll find that it one of the most talked about movies from Sundance, with a young child star who is being mentioned as a possible nominee for an Academy Award! I read that she was a student at one of our elementary schools in Houma when she was cast for the role. Our family can't wait to see the movie which is being distributed to other theaters by 20th Century Fox, but we'll have to until we can find time to go and see it in N.O. or maybe wait until a DVD / Blu-ray is released. With ten screens, it would be great to be able to see a better variety of movies at the Houma Palace than the same old Hollywood fare ("Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", "Wrath of the Titans", "Men in Black 3", countless lame comedies . . . we'll pass.) read more
