Overflowing trash cans at exit of the screening room. Popcorn scattered on the floor even before film started. All this suggested understaffing. A real issue. read more

I am not reviewing AMC Georgetown for its movie theaters - that'll be for another time. But this review is for their pretzel, their Bavarian Legend Pretzel. I call it a plain-old big-ass pretzel. This thing is huge. I love big Bavarian pretzels and this was a gem in an unexpected spot. Soft, with just a little crispness on the crust, a good amount of salt, and plenty of mustard for the entire thing. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there was an inordinate amount of oil on the pretzel. But if you're like me, a sucker for a big-ass pretzel, next time you're at AMC Georgetown for a movie, grab their Bavarian Legend! read more

Came to redeem a soon expiring birthday reward, so was lucky enough to catch a late night early screening for the new Devil Wears Prada 2 movie. This location tends to get busy depending on the movie offerings, with a good mix of nearby college students and the neighboring city community, but this evening was fairly light and not too crowded. The concessions line was fast and the popcorn was fresh and hot. They also have a full service bar. I only selected a Coke. The theater I was in had plush reclining seats with a good amount of room between rows. read more

We have been to the Georgetown AMC so many times and it is always a solid experience. The location is great, especially if you want to grab lunch, dinner, or drinks before or after the movie, which makes it such an easy pick when spending time in Georgetown. They usually have a good selection of movies, the staff is nice, and everything is clean enough for a movie theater, which honestly is all I really need. It is one of those theaters that is consistently reliable and just easy to keep coming back to. Definitely one of our go-to spots for a movie and a little night out. read more

Food is standard across the AMC locations, and I don't usually purchase food here. Nonetheless, the movie premiere advanced showing of Ready or Not 2 hosts provided free popcorn which was nice and salty and buttery. I got a great drink at the bar, and if Amanda is the mixologists attending to you then you will also enjoy your drink. FYI, the drinks are huge...intended to keep you sipping throughout the length of the movie. This AMC is cleaner than other AMC locations. Everyone, fellow movie goers and staff were friendly. read more

The ice didn't work on the main side. Had to walk to the opposite side of the theater to get ice, but it was the yummy crunchy kind so I was pleased, but I took off a star because uuummm why didn't it work on the main side? Anyway...the theater was clean. Bathroom was clean. The staff had good customer service. The food area could've been a little cleaner especially being in DC. I can only imagine the fun rodents have in there. I suggest cleaning the food area more often. Yea I'll take 1 more star away for lack of cleanliness, but other than that the customer service was cool. read more

Solid movie experience one can expect from the AMC chain. The seats are comfortable and you can happily stretch out while imbibing the film if your choice. I decided to forego the popcorn and drink this time around, so can't comment on it. This be surprised if it was different from any other AMC. Note that there are not a lot of seats in some of the theater rooms, so be sure to get your tickets and seat assignments early. read more

Just visiting Wa DC and needed to kill some time. My family and I wanted to see a movie and ended up at AMC 14. The seats are the ones that turns into a lounge chair. It made our movie experience very nice. I totally recommend this movie house. read more

First time going to AMC in Georgetown, and definitely convenient for an afterwork movie date :-). Food service was kind of slow but I liked that the fries were fresh and there were other options such as mozzarella sticks. If you want to have a drink before or during your movie, there's also a bar. Overall good experience, would return for afterwork movie dates! read more

This is my FAVORITE theater to see a movie! I work in hospitality, so that aspect is important to me. I tried to preorder my ticket online along with some snacks so I could just pick it up when I got there, but there was a bug in the app, or something. Hence the missing 5th star. That's it. When I got there I used the kiosk to buy my ticket to see Thunderbolts*, and went the concession stand to order from the counter. The staff was all very friendly! And by the time I filled my drink, my food was ready. Fast and friendly! It's always clean and well-maintained. read more

AMC Georgetown is my go-to theater when I want to relax and actually enjoy the movie-going experience. The reclining chairs are super comfortable. They also serve beer, wine and cocktails, which is a nice bonus if you're looking to unwind a bit. The screen and sound quality were both excellent -- crisp visuals and immersive audio made for a great viewing experience. My roommate and I have AMC movie memberships and I highly recommend. For $25 a month, you can go to three movies a WEEK for free. You also get a discount at concessions. This place is walkable and right next to the Potomac waterfront in Georgetown. Even though sometimes the service isn't great, you're there for the movies anyway! read more

This is our go-to Friday night theater in DC. Is it amazing? Definitely not. But do I enjoy Georgetown, totally! I find it to be a middle ground theater, but they've been slowly updating it over the years with reclining seats, a full service bar with wine, and concession stand with the usual mediocre AMC food. I still order the flatbread pizza, pretzel knots and pulled pork sandwiches. The staff can be overwhelmed and the food can take a very long time. The theater has two sides, which can feel very separate from each other. There is supposed to be wifi inside, but it never works and cell reception is pretty much non-existent. This makes it tough for me as I'm often working late on Friday nights, and can't get a signal. Overall, it's a fine theater and in one of DC's best neighborhoods. We'll keep going back read more

This is a solid AMC with Dolby, IMAX, and lots and lots of indie film offerings. The recliner seats are very nice, even if they don't have heaters. I have AMC Stubs A-list and love coming to see two or even three films at a time. It's easy to figure out timing between films by adding 25-35 minutes for trailers to the running time of most films. More on transportation options at the end of this review. The only downsides to this location are sometimes overwhelmed staff at busy times, leading to understocked bathrooms and long lines at concessions. Oh, and I've sometimes experienced very cold theaters, but prepared patrons bring their own blankets. :-) On transit: it's impossible to get an affordable Uber or Lyft from this location at rush hour. Also, I can't rely on the parking validation beyond four hours. Most times I visit, I take public transit or search for cheap spaces available through SpotHero. read more

I visited the AMC in Georgetown to see the Challengers movie and it was good! I got a small popcorn and a small drink, and of course it was very pricey but tasted good. The guy kind of skimped me with the popcorn, not filling the small popcorn bag all the way to the top. When I went back to ask if I could pay for a refill, they proceeded to charge me for a refill on the reusable popcorn bucket. I was not going to spend a total of $30 on a small popcorn a small drink and a refill. Aside from that, the movie theater and bathrooms were very clean. I enjoyed the reclining seats. They literally go all the way back and make you feel like you're in a bed! read more

If I could give this theater ZERO stars, I would. I have never had such a terrible customer service experience at a movie theater than I had here in May 2025. I had free AMC movie passes that never expire. The AMC purchase screens/machines would not accept the passes. And when I asked for help, the staff would not accept them either. They wouldn't let us into the movie. They said I had to take a picture of the pass, email (?!?!) it to AMC headquarters, and maybe before 5pm AMC would email back... and (here's the kicker) in the meantime, since the movie was about to start, I should PAY FOR THE MOVIE TICKETS (and then "maybe" I would get a refund from that random AMC headquarters email). The staff said there was no main AMC phone number, only this email. Mind you, these were *AMC* movie passes, generated by *AMC*, purchased at *AMC*, but somehow not readable by an AMC machine, and not accepted by an AMC staffperson at an AMC theater. (In other words, these were not third-party passes that might reasonably require some kind of intermediary step.) Essentially, the staff here were trying to cheat me into buying tickets when I had free movie passes. I tried bringing up several different ways to solve this problem, but all I got in return were blank, dead stares and a robotic "We cannot do that" in response. What a scam! read more

Oof, what happened here? I'm going to guess COVID happened. The ticket buying counter is now completely self-serve with machines instead of people. There were two staff doing the ticket taking. Well, one staff doing it and one staff talking to that staffer. The restroom had exactly one soap dispenser with actual soap and zero paper towels (and this was for a 3 PM movie on a Thursday). The popcorn was incredibly stale and atrocious. Like, it was inedible. When the movie was over, there were a bunch of staff in the hallway dancing around. I guess it all boils down to people not really going to movies anymore? But I won't be coming back to this location. read more

I was invited to do watch a private screening of a new movie. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Once you walk in the bar is to the right. Once I went into the theater where the movie was shown, the seat was spacious and reclined. The only downfall to this theater was that the heat was not on. It was 28 degrees outside, so I left on my hat, scarf and gloves. Also, the theater partners with the garage next to it so you will be able to validate your ticket once leave. read more

I hadn't been here in months or maybe over a year, but just read previous reviews and related to the experiences. Ordered popcorn to be delivered to seat that never came. Someone had a similar experience nearly a year ago so I'm surprised this is still an issue. They should just not offer the food delivery if they are understaffed or unable to do it. The theater wasn't even that busy for Discount Tuesday night. My bf missed the beginning of the movie to ask for the popcorn, which didn't up tasting that great. Didn't taste fresh. I also read another review that there's never any soap in the bathroom and that is still the case! There's no soap in the dispensers, and they leave out what looks like a spray bottle of soap which I thought was odd. I like the recliners I guess .. it's just your less than average theater. Not saying I wouldn't come back but it's definitely less likely. read more

The last two times I was there, the "butter" machines were broken. They had the cold oil in containers like you get ketchup and mustard in. Pick them up and your hands are covered. You can barely be near the counters without getting it all over you. Put it on your popcorn and it is just slick grease. After the first time I thought they would fix them. But 2 months later they were still out. The dolby theater (8) used to be good. The in-theater promo used to call your attention to the black blacks on the screen. No more. It is all sort of grey. The promos don't mention the blacks anymore. The seats have gotten really shabby. The recliner got stuck on one of the chairs we were using. It's all very sad. read more

The theater was clean & safe. The food area was clean and checkout went quickly (a bit pricier than hoped for). The movie picture quality was great. Our chairs were comfortable and view was great. The only issue we encountered was that one chair did not recline. We did have to pay $10 for parking even with validation but it was nice to get out and we would likely still visit this movie theater again. read more

We all came here as a family group to catch the Sunday matinee of Conclave. It's a brand new thriller movie that just came put this week, and we had planned to co e today for the discounted matinee pricing. This was my first experience here at this theater, and a good year since I had been to a theater at all. This theater is right smack in the middle of Georgetown, so street parking is extremely limmited. We arrived right at he 12:15pm showtime, and it took a little while to purchase the popcorn and drinks, and somehow the employee mixed -up the sizes, but it was all good. We were seated right in the middle of the previews. The theater is spacious, and even though we needed to select our seats, we ended-up sitting in the front love seat section. The seats were super comfortable and we all enjoyed ourselves. read more

This day was my 1st day visiting a public movie theater since 2019. So glad I renewed my AMC Stubs Premier Membership as the Perks have increased. I purchased tickets online and breezed through the initial ticketing line, skipped the line for snack bar and free upgrades. Although I didn't utilize, they have a nice full bar on site w plenty of seating. The theater itself was spacious, Covid friendly and provided a lot of comfort. The seats were large, clean and reclined comfortably. Great quality films/ movies. Appropriate volume. Clean bathrooms. This place is a winner. I'd def visit again when in Georgetown. read more

I'm an AMC A-List member reviewing various AMCs throughout the country. I visited the Georgetown location for the first time on 6/25, and was pleasantly surprised. Seats: Reclining!! Why are reclining seats so rare in this area‽ Screens: Can't speak to the IMAX, but our standard screening of Asteroid City looked great. MacGuffins Bar: Yes! It looked nice and is right by the entrance. We didn't partake, though. Snacks: The snack line was a bit slower and disorganized than usual, and I have found that very few employees honor the A-List line in general at DMV AMC locations. That said, my wife said her pretzel bites were good, and she loves a pretzel. Crowd: Fewer rowdy teens, but we were at a matinee on a summer day - will need to visit at night for more intel. Bathrooms: Fair in terms of cleanliness. Parking: I hear there is a lot that validates for up to 4 hours. Georgetown is a bit inconvenient to get to unless you live nearby, so I won't be attending as often as I'd like. Nicole Kidman AMC ad: Heartbreak feels good in a place like this. Overall, this AMC is on the small side, but is a great standard location. I frequently see this theater getting arthouse/indie releases, and there are Dolby and IMAX screens. It was a very hot day, and the AC could have been a LOT cooler - it was pretty warm in the theater, which wasn't great. I will definitely be back, though. 4/5 stars. read more

We had forever movie passes that they wouldn't accept (after making fun arrangements away from work to see a movie), and had a ridiculous ploy where we have to email "corporate" to confirm the tickets before we can see the movie (which was starting in ten minutes). Totally ridiculous, swindled the customers, and made their poor service the problem of the customer, which is literally the opposite of "customer is always right." We had to leave in frustration when they refused to compromise or meet us in the middle. No wonder movie theatres are closing left and right--total bait and switch con artists. read more

I have heard the horror stories of this place and only because of weather and location, I decided to see one of the biggest movies on its opening day, Wakanda Forever....AMAZING movie! Not so amazing movie experience. Facility: I have no idea whether this facility is regularly checked for maintenance and technical adjustments. Here are a load of areas which were poorly kept. 1- Bathrooms: how is it 11 in the morning and the ladies room has tissue all over the floor and only 1 of their 6 sinks has soap...soap...in these times where germs are running around, a group of women are surrounding one sink in order to get soap. Then the paper towel dispenser was empty..oh the joy! This bathroom in disgust and discuss was the main bathroom near theater 1-8, I was beyond disappointed. 2- Theater: the floors were filthy, the auditorium was beyond hot, on a hot and rainy day. Next, there were no attendants to check on folks who were jumping in other people's paid seats, leading to rude privilege morons standing in front of folks while the movie was playing. I was beyond annoyed and the movie didn't call for that emotion. Did I mention that at the beginning of the movie, I can tell that the sound and visual were not synced but seconds after sudden jumping, it came together. At the end of the movie, an attendant appeared, my thoughts "wow! I didn't know they had anyone" At this point their presence wasn't needed. But I'm glad one finally showed. Staff: not the friendliest at all and I'm sure that stems from working in that area. Folks in that area are generally rude and I avoid the area unless I'm trying to support a business worth visiting-many of whom I actually frequent and appreciate...this theater isn't one of them and I won't return. Save your money, go where you can be comfortable and treated human...with kindness from workers and other customers. Sad for a representation of the AMC brand... read more
