This place has officially become my favorite summer hangout! The AC is so good that I literally have to bring a blanket... in the middle of summer! Like wow right ! Everyone that works there is super kind and helpful! As for the theater itself, it has super comfy chairs, the snack selection is great, and the popcorn is always fresh and delicious (which, let's be honest, is half the movie experience). They also have a full bar! Personally, I think the drinks are a little too pricey, but if you're in the mood to treat yourself, go for it! Nothing says "date night" quite like a fun movie and a cocktail. One of my favorite perks is the discounted morning showings. They offer 20% off, which is perfect if you're like me and love finding ways to have fun without spending a fortune. While visiting family in Bakersfield, I decided to treat my mom and younger brother to a movie. We had all been wanting to see Obsession, and when they told me they hadn't seen it yet, I thought it would be the perfect activity since we're all fans of scary movies. We found parking quickly, check-in was fast and easy, and the theater itself appeared clean and well-maintained. The auditorium was a bit on the smaller side, but it still felt comfortable and wasn't overly crowded, which I actually appreciated. Before the movie started, we made our mandatory concession stand stop. I was especially excited when I spotted kettle popcorn, but unfortunately they told me they were already sold out even though our movie was fairly early in the day. That was definitely a letdown, but luckily I still enjoy classic buttery movie theater popcorn, so I was able to pivot without too much heartbreak. I also liked that the drink station had touchscreen machines with plenty of soda and juice options to choose from. My mom decided to get an ICEE, but she was a little disappointed when she went back for a refill during the movie and found the machine was out of service. Between the missing kettle popcorn and the ICEE issue, the concession experience wasn't quite as smooth as we had hoped. One of my favorite parts of the visit was definitely the reclining seats. Being able to kick back, put my feet up, and get comfortable made the movie even more enjoyable. I also appreciated that the auditorium wasn't freezing cold like some theaters tend to be. As for Obsession, I personally didn't find it all that scary, but it was entertaining and suspenseful enough to keep me engaged throughout the film. More importantly, it was a fun way to spend quality time with my family. Overall, we had a really nice movie day together. While there were a couple of minor hiccups with the concession area, the clean theater, comfortable seating, easy parking, and convenient location made for an enjoyable experience. Since this is the closest theater to my family's home I would definitely come back to catch another movie the next time I'm in town. read more

Went last Friday evening to take my sons to watch Five Night at Freddy 2. I used the app to purchase tickets and super easy to check in (sidenote: I do have AT&T & noticed that the internet was on the slower side loading things on the app). Purchased popcorn and drinks and found our seats. As the trailers for other movies were playing I noticed a few employees helping customers with their chairs as they were not working. The employees were professional and took care of the chair issues promptly. The theater was full and with the movie being geared towards kids there was some excess noise yet nothing too distracting. The employees kept coming in and watched over the theater which definitely helped the movie experience. Overall, had a great experience! The only note is that the screen was dark which made the visual experience a bit lacking. read more

First time ever being in an AMC theater so didn't have much to expect. Cute little theater; it was clean and organized well. The workers seemed like they didn't want to be there but they didn't give us attitude or anything. Inside the rooms themselves are very small. Not even 50 people can be in each theater room. The screen is really in your face when seated. Their chairs are very uncomfortable, bonus points for them reclining and having a little bit of space to cuddle up with your partner next to you though. I got to my movie on time, but Lisa required that I had a photo ID to watch obsession in which I had a picture of it, but she was so rude to the point where she made me run all the way back home and I had to grab my physical copy and go all the way back mind you I am full of tattoos, and I have a goatee yet, Lisa made me miss the first half of my movie just to go grab ID to show that I was over the age of 17. Do better Lisa. Although the theater itself was great Lisa did ruin my experience. read more

The place was cramped and the counter area was a mess. The movie theatre was decent only had a hard time getting the right seat from the screen since I went as disabled they put me on the top row. Inconvenient for a wheel chair. I would find another theater from that experience. Maybe next time. The movie Anaconda was less than expected. read more

One of, if not the smallest movie theater in town with only 6 theaters. Old location for the $Dollar theater, there really wasn't anything that excited me about this place. I usually go to Maya for my movie outings, but I was invited to join a friend for her birthday here, so of course I tried it out. Sadly, I wasn't swayed to make this my new movie spot. The theater lobby is super small with only 6 individual theaters inside. This means they have a much more limited schedule because they can't have the same movie running in multiple theaters to overlap times. Also, the theaters themselves were VERY small. I was initially impressed with the mini bar because not many theaters have a liquor license, but the drinks were about $15 each and not very strong. Also, be aware that you are forced to tip if you pay with a card. I wish I knew this before dropping a few loose dollars in the tip cup. The seats are more like home recliners and very puffy; they also have the unique option of lifting the middle arm rest so you can really cuddle up with your date if you want to. The down side was that both me and my friend had issues with positioning the chairs because the buttons weren't working properly. All in all, the experience was ok, but nothing to write home about. I think I'll stick with Maya. read more

New to the Bakersfield area, we've been AMC A List members for years though, and have visited different AMC's throughout the United States not just Southern California. We were incredibly underwhelmed by the Bakersfield AMC and frankly a bit dissatisfied with the franchise. So much that we're actually considering termination our membership since this is the only AMC in the area and it's so terrible. This location does not offer any of the premium screens, the seats are old and weathered, just an old run down theater. We were told it used to be the old cheap theater before it was bought over by AMC, we have high hopes that AMC does something to bring it back to life. read more

I hate this theater! It's so small inside the theater and the screen is so close it gives you a headache trying to watch the movie that you paid for! I paid $28 for 2 adults and a child and the theater is a quarter the size of a theater. The screen is much smaller than normal. I'm so upset! They wouldn't even refund my money or give a credit. I've been a long time AMC customer and Stub member so I was completely shocked by how management handle our situation. My friend and I came to see a movie for our double date and had the worse experience I've ever had. I was told that we were talking too much during the movie and when I explained I was laughing at the movie, not talking she said that because we were reported multiple times for talking she needed to ask us to leave. I told her I believed the couple that was reporting us had a problem with my friend kissing her girlfriend (lesbian relationship) and that's why they wanted us to leave. While talking with management the couple came out from the movie and continued to harass and nothing was done about them and they were still able to see their movie. Thankfully I got my refund, but as a long time customer for AMC I'm definitely not coming back after the experience I had. read more

There might be bigger and better movie theatres around but this is the one I enjoy going to. I use the app and pick out my seats. You don't have to rush to get there and stand in line. The line for the concession stand has never been too long. If you use the app you get a refill on the popcorn and you get your own fountain drink. They do have a bar for the people who like to have a drink. I never saw a movie here when it was a discount theatre. I know they remodeled it and they put in nice reclining chairs. The bathroom is always clean when we have been here. I don't have any complaints except I wish it was closer to where I live. read more

I've visited all the theaters in town and this one is just okay. It's not the best and it's not the worst either. In the past year or two this theater has upgraded into a regular theater. This theater used to be the dollar theater until recently. We had visited a few weeks back and we were grabbing our snacks at the concession stand and almost everything we tried to order... the lady was like... I don't know why they keep those pictures up, but we are not a full AMC theater so we don't carry that. Haha I was like... well then, what can we get then? Just give us that. Anyway, this theater is a little smaller than the other ones. The seats recline and are more comfy than what it used to be, but when I sit there for a long time, my neck and my back hurt from the way the chairs are. It's not bad, but it's not the best chairs either. Prices are reasonable and they play all the new movies. read more

It's not a terrible theatre. There's just better choices. Concessions are lacking. If it's overcrowded, it means it'll possibly be worse than most because the reclining seats going into your knees. It's like being in an overcrowded airplane. You're sardine canned in, depending on where you sit. Which is touch with the assigned seating. (Do all theatres have assigned seating? It's kinda crappy. Too strict.) The staff are great. Same with managerial. I and my date were unfortunate enough to have started a movie and then a 7.1 earthquake hit, making us have to leave and then close. Not their fault. They refunded us with a "any movie" voucher, which is inclusive of any ticket, even if 3D or what have you. I'd only go to this theatre again if it's playing something the others aren't. read more

Then they didn't even get kicked out even though I'm not sure but I'm pretty positive because I heard them talking.One in the group didn't pay for their tickets in Advance and a staff member had to come and they paid for it in the theater, while we were watching the movie.If you're looking for a good theater with good deals I would recommend the Maya the prices are very similar. read more

Came here with my kids on an overnight trip. The staff was very nice, they were attentive. At two different times the associate walked by and said ENJOY YOUR MOVIE... I thought that small detail was good as some just power walk with their heads down. The location was clean and the sound quality was perfect. read more

Group of 7 went to see the Super Mario Movie. The last seat in row D in theater 2 was broken. It was reclined at an uncomfortable angle and wouldn't move. So I had to have 2 kids sit in one seat. I told an employee so we wouldn't be blamed for breaking the chair and he said "ok". I wasn't expecting a refund since we did see the movie but it would have been nice of them to make sure we had enough seats. Then on the way out we stopped in the middle of the theater to say hello to friends and an employee asked us to move because we were blocking the flow of traffic. We turned around and nobody was coming in or out of the theaters. The only reason we chose this theater was because the Maya was sold out of the times we wanted to go. Next time I will just wait and go to the Maya. read more

I love this small movie theater. We went for $5.00 Tuesday... which all the theaters in town does this promotion. I chose my assigned seats online before I arrived. Time saver!!! Its clean in here. The concession stand is neat and they have a full bar! Their nachos are so good here and fresh!! They give you 2 cups of nacho cheese. Also, whatever drink size you get, it's free refills! Yes!!! The seats are so comfortable. They are Leather and they lean back. Only problem is when you sit too long it starts to heat up your bum. Since you have assigned seats and dont want to watch the previews/new trailers I recommend you come 20 mins after the start time.... it was 30 mins of trailers before the movie actually started which was pretty ridiculous! 3 trailers are more than plenty.... Overall it was a good experience, our snack bill was higher then our tickets. Tickets were 15.00 for 3 adults and snacks came out to 26.00... still saving though... so cant really complain. Before I start this review I have to admit, over the last 2 years I have become a movie theatre snob. I usually visit the luxury theatre, Tulare Galaxy, but opted to try this place out since they've also claimed to be a luxury theatre. As soon as I walked into this place I was disgusted. This place was so dirty. There was Popcorn and dirt stains all over the floor. The lobby is not very big at all so I don't understand how this place could have gotten so dirty. Lost 1 star. The actual theatre is small, and the first row seats are very close to the screen itself. The doors are so thin and the theatre rooms are so close together that you can hear all the outside noise! All of it!!! It was very disturbing when you're trying to watch a movie. When the movie next to us released before we did it was so noisy!! Lost 2 stars. The restroom was DISGUSTING! Dirty floors, dirty sinks, dirty mirrors, dirty stalls, no toilet paper!!!! This bathroom was super tiny, so why? Why is it not being kept up? I looked for a bathroom check list, some places put them up where there customers can see that someone actual comes in every hour to tidy up. Lost 1 star. Their food was good!! My husband love their pizza and my daughter and her friend loved their mozzarella sticks! 1 Star! Come on.... let's clean house and try to keep it clean guys. read more

This would be the best theater in Bakersfield but . . . It is unbearably loud. So loud it's uncomfortable. I took my son here to see sonic and he had his hands on his ears the entire time. There was a cricket chirping in the room the whole damn time! Several of us went to complain and the worker took a while to come, and all he did was shake the curtains and left. The chirping did not stop for the entire movie. I really wish I could have asked for a refund but we had already paid for a babysitter so we stuck through it. We could barely concentrate on the movie and am disappointed that the staff didn't make any real efforts to get rid of the cricket! What a waste of a movie. read more

Meh. I gave this place a try a handful of years ago, and I was disappointed that they advertised cocktails but they would only serve beer and wine because the bartender happened to be out. Flashforward to today, years later, and I give it another chance...and surprise surprise, there's still no bartender, which means no cocktails, and only beer and wine (I dont drink either). I'm starting to think this place doesn't actually have a bartender. If you advertise cocktails, they should be available to purchase. I never have this problem with at Studio Movie Grill, and this just reminds me why I'm loyal to that theater. Even the AMC pass isn't enough to make it enticing. read more

A long time a ago, well before my time, there was a saying; Cadillac service... well AMC is trying to do this, but with a nice Cadillac driven by a crappy Kia! AMC has invested to make a nice physical experience. Nice seats, if you can figure the use out, a decent menu, with much wait and confusing lines, and EOTH service. Seriously, $10 bucks for an 8oz domestic beer?! ‍ what are you, Dodgers stadium? I digress... However, they fall so short. If you go a few miles, for about the same price, you get Studio movie grill. There you will get Cadillac service, mostly. They still have some issues to work out, but head and shoulders' over AMC in delivery. Each episode a scraggly person with outdated style spends the week with a group of five fabulous gay men with an amazing sense of style that see his hidden potential and transform his environment, his outside look, and his perception of himself, building his self confidence and turning him into an entirely new hip and edgy creature that friends and family barely recognize. The AMC Bakersfield 6 theater has gone through a similar radical change since my last review in 2012. Gone are the uncomfortable chairs, the air conditioning that struggled, and often failed to cool the small theaters that showed second run movies for pennies (well, dollars). Cue the fabulous presto change-o magic transformation - minus the devastatingly handsome gay men, sigh. Everything about this theater is hip, happening, edgy, insert appropriate adjective here. The theaters have recliners as seats. Not movie theater seats that lean back; actual recliners that are well stuffed, lean all the way back, have their own armrests, and a footpad that raises up to support your feet. It's like watching the movie from the comfort of home, but on the big screen with your buddies. All the recliners are numbered. When you purchase your tickets you select the actual seat you are going to sit in. This is a wonderful advance because you know exactly where you are going to sit so there is no reason to rush into the theater to try to save seats. Just be aware that if you want to sit next to a friend you will have to plan that out ahead of time to make sure that your friend purchases a ticket for the seat next to yours. No tradesies once you make your purchase. Once you purchase your ticket, head on over to the concession stand to purchase some food. Yes, they offer traditional options like soda and popcorn, but they also had real food options. The most exciting part? There is a bar next to the concession stand. Yes, you read that correctly. You can purchase alcoholic drinks at this theater. So far, I have not felt the urge to indulge in adult beverages, but it is nice to know that it is an option. If you are looking for a first class movie viewing (and drinking and munching) experience, AMC Bakersfield 6 is the place to go here in town. read more

You can NOT rate this place any less, and can't complain too much of this place because HONESTLY, I am glad it's here. I can enjoy a 2wk or older movie with a simple budget Pros: -Less than $2 EVERYDAY for movie tickets -parking (hit or miss depending on the day and movie) -$1 hot dogs -$0.75 TUESDAYS! -LESS crowded -it's nice to go out once in a while and watch a movie at a theater instead of renting from a Redbox, netflix, blockbuster, or actually being at the Expensive theaters with a huge crowd. -Before you go you can hang out at the little ice cream shop in the front of the place, and enjoy a little piece of heaven at that mom&pop creamery! Cons: -Bathrooms, grossssss! why can't they maintain that bathroom? or why can't ladies just be LADIES and be CLEAN! yuck! it was decent in the beginning, now girls just down know how to FLUSH or use toilet paper! -theater size and seats, you can tell the seats are a little beat up and the theater space is not your typical THEATER "space" -They do not show ANY newly released movies, ( of course not, for less than $2? get real!) -sometimes you have to pay inside the theater, Can't you just really pay at the booth? at least give me feel of nostalgia going to those classic movie theater and let me pay at the BOOTH! (or that's just me..) All in all, this place is a huge hit or miss, it's nice because some days there arn't that many kids and some days there's a whole flock of them. My boyfriend took me to this theater to see The Super Mario Bros. in 3D. I enjoyed the movie but found the theater lacking in several ways: The seats were full of popcorn despite the fact that the theater had just opened. They serve food, but there are no tables or trays. The food is fairly greasy and comes in cardboard containers. I covered my lap with layers of napkins, but the grease soaked through and ruined my jeans. Additionally, the "MacGuffins Bar" was closed due to "software updates" that apparently didn't affect the other concessions. A margarita might have made it a more enjoyable experience. I won't return to this theater. read more
