We were looking for a place that was vegan/restriction-friendly, and originally decided on the restaurant right by Steinfels. But after looking at the menu, we all agreed this was the better choice for our group of six, in terms of food selection and prices. Holy moly, my fellow American yelpers will also balk at the prices once you take a peek at the menu because meals will definitely be $25-$40 for dinner for one. And that's just for a dish! So the boo and I split a tuna burger, which was so tenderly made and perfectly seared. I loved that the staff put in extra effort to cut our burger in half after we briefly mentioned to the server that we'd be splitting this meal. It's the little things that matter! Portion sizes were the perfect amount of filling--not too much or too small. I eyed my friend's cauliflower starter which was literally an uncut head of cauliflower...which did not look easy or appetizing to eat. Service was very friendly and swift. They were pretty full, but didn't have to wait at all to be seated by the hostess. Our waiter didn't speak English that well, so we got another guy who was great and cracked some jokes with us. We all got beers--the weizen was yum and the perfect amount of zingy flavor and hops for my tastes. Beer is literally the best way to destress, amirite? We also got water upon being seated, which was great to keep us awake and rejuvenated. Their restrooms are very clean, although a bit closer in quarters compared to most restaurants back home. I was hesitated but went ahead as they offered a full menu. When I arrived, they reserved a small table at the corner next to the bookshelf with candle light and lovely decoration. It was so cozy and romantic in that I was glad I didn't get the dinner table in the restaurant. The service was very good. Food was excellent!! Housemade pasta was flavorful and coq au vin made with Quail, not chicken was very good. Rustic bread was also good. I highly recommend Blaue Ente for dinner, drink or just to have snack. I will definitely come back!

Despite Yelp saying that credit cards are accepted here, the bartenders told me otherwise (with a 30CHF bill), so keep that in mind if you're visiting from out of town and have limited Swiss currency. I'm guessing those instances are probably limited, given the relative neighborhood-y feel to the bar, but with its proximity to the train station you never know. There's not much specifically identifiable as great about Olé Olé, but it's the culmination of everything about the place that just makes it generally lovable. The bartender gals are cheerful and charming, and even manage to have their own labeled beer as a result of their infamy. The patrons are chill, but friendly, so much so that we wound up back at the flat of one of the people we met at the bar to have some after-hours drinks and inevitably chat about global politics (some things never change). Pricing seemed decent, with 4 beers (I think) being about 25-30CHF. They only had the local beer Amboss on draft in two varieties, which was pretty mediocre, but still better than the Bud or Miller products you would find in a similar dive back in the U.S. This definitely feels like more of a shots or whiskey sipping kind of bar. The bathroom deserves its own special mention here, with some of the most odd / interesting decor I've ever seen, featuring a full size skeleton hovering over the toilet with a bouquet of flowers for a groin, and a machine that dispenses something called "Travel Pussy".

The crowd is kinda down-to-earth till the a-wanna-be-a-hipster. The music is nice (alternative - Rock). Prices of drinks are OK. Normal prices for Kreis 4. Just pay attention, it is a narrow bar. It gets difficult when you are with more then 4 people. And you can not be outside because it is right at the street. For sure a place to go once in a while.
