I have two children attending Ambleside School of San Angelo. My older child has been there 3 years, beginning with kindergarten and now in second grade. My younger child is in her 2nd year. She completed preK and is now in Kindergarten. I never imagined sending my kids to a private school. However, after attending kinder in a public school it became my mission to find a better alternative for my oldest son. At Ambleside, my kids are developing a love of learning while receiving a rich and rigorous curriculum. A big focus in early grades is the development of lifelong healthy habits that support learning and success later in life. The atmosphere supports real growth rather than fostering stress, while the teachers and school center on Christ. Enrollment is up 22% in the past year alone, especially in the upper grades. Growing and nurturing children while their minds are exposed to great ideas in a loving Christian atmosphere. Rigorous mathematics, language arts, science, and history, and many other subjects are a standard part of the curriculum; Music, violin, art, Spanish, nature study, artist and composer study, citizenship, grammar, and an emphasis on community service. Ambleside School of San Angelo is truly unique in its philosophy and methodology. I had all but given up on primary education until I saw what was happening at this amazing school. The Charlotte Mason philosophy is based in every child being seen as a person, deserving a rich education filled with living ideas, art, music, Bible, language, field study, strings, and a strong core curriculum in literature, history, math and science. We were discreetly made to fieel as if we weren't right for the school and wouldnt fit in as if they were better people. Inappropriate contact with much older children followed like questions associating hugging and "touching", tickling games and HER constantly being asked to hug and be hugged by BOYS twice and three times her age with facultys' response being that no one knows of any such thing. Last came repeatedly being beat up until she was kicked between the legs by one boy while another boy yelled to kick her in the face, and the teachers saw nothing. Schools' response was cold and inconsiderate turning a cold shoulder and a blind eyer no matter how much it hurt my daughter, literally. This facility has poor supervision and lacks structure and integrity. My 4yr old daughter calls it a bad school with bad people, and that's put nicely. Turned out to be like a bunch of snobs hiding behind a religious veil. I wouldnt and didnt risk it with my child after just a few weeks leaving 2 prepaid months,(including catering at 100 monthly), unattended. read more
