I am a recent graduate from…read moreAvenue Five Institute in Austin and a Licensed Esthetician in the state of Texas, which is reputably one of the best "beauty" school programs in the Nation.  Avenue 5 offers an auxiliary Eyelash Extension Class which I took. After finishing it, I didn't feel secure or even capable of taking on clients or charging for services. I also shadowed a friend who paid a substantial amount to train with a reputable Austin based lash brand. While it wasn't terrible it was nowhere near the quality of education from LABS.  Enter LABS. LABS did a presentation at our North Campus in Austin and I was immediately intrigued. Dee's no nonsense yet funny persona pulled me in. We discussed their training program and here is where they separate themselves from their competition. 1. They do not offer crash courses  "Learn Classic and Volume for $1200+ in just 2 days" nonsense. They are focused on EDUCATION. They offer a 2 day Classic, 2 day Advanced Classic, 2 day Volume. All separate. Why is this important? Because trying to learn a high skill cap profession in 2 days with too much source material will simply take your money and set you up for failure. LABS DOES NOT DO THAT. They focus 100% on education, retention of that education and support after you finish their class. 2. Current Proprietary Curriculum. At Avenue Five I ended up paying far too much for a lash kit and virtually no true understanding of healthy practionining. Lash Health, Work Safety and Ergonomics. We were taught methods that were dated and contrary to current trends and equipment.  With LABS you are given a solid foundation of not just performing as a lash extension technician but how to maintain body health (wrists, back, shoulders, neck), and proper eyelash consultation and evaluation (what lashes and eyes look/do best with what types of lashes). 3. Growth & Critical Feedback. I'm a firm believer that without honest critical feedback, you will never grow. If you don't like being told what you're doing is wrong -- get out of this business, you are simply doing yourself and future customers a disservice. It is paramount you know exactly how good you are, where you stand, and where you need to grow. LABS does not MESS AROUND with this. Dee is the best. She is straight up but kind and supportive all at once. She will tell you immediately that you're doing something wrong but will sit with you until you get it right. She will not give up on you or let you give up on yourself. But if you are sensitive and need to be hand held and your performance sugar coated -- beat it. Go be bad somewhere else. 4. Tools. Their glue, lashes, and instruments are some of the best I've used and I've used quite a few, including JBLashes, Borboletta, EBL, and random high rated Amazon trash. You're given a wonderful discount for training with LABS which has made a big difference in the output of my work. My lash technique and performance after 2 days in an intensive Classic Training Class with LABS changed how I looked at my future and my skills. The difference in my work was tremendous. My lashes went from looking like sad mistakes to promising artistry. I cannot recommend their training program enough. Out of all my education, my money spent here was by far the best ROI I could hope for.  I absolutely plan to come back for Advanced Classic and Volume training.  It has been 3 months since I completed my course training with LABS and to this day I can text Dee and she will walk me through my work and continues to critique and offer endless continued support.

They're very thorough and had me send pictures my eyebrows they could see what exactly they were dealing with. It was recommended that I have a combination microblading and shading procedure and I was given a quote. I paid a deposit (to hold the appointment) and set a date. Prior to the appointment I received a couple reminders which I appreciated. Upon arrival I filled out any paperwork and Sandy got to work. She's an absolute perfectionist and it takes a lot of time, but it's 100% worth the trouble. I had a not so good job done prior and my eyebrows were almost orange and I had to color them in everyday. I really appreciated the patience I was shown as I'm quite squirmy and I furl my eyebrows constantly. I was repeatedly gently reminded to relax my face and I tried, but I needed constant reminders. After what seemed like forever (I have ADHD) & this tested my ability to control myself, I was beyond grateful for the attention to detail Sandy gave. I was given directions (received them by text, too) on how to properly care for them what to expect as they healed. I set up my follow up appointment for a month out. The touch up process is much faster and I was out of there in a little over an hour. I'm truly in love with the results and will follow up in 3-4 moms for a touch up. The ladies apply clusters of lashes under the lash line, these clusters are the typical lash clusters you use for individual lash applications, the only difference being the glue might be more potent? Because as per the lady that did my lashes- these only last about a week, two if you are "extremely careful". I live in San Antonio, but made the trip because there just wasn't anyone here that had as good of work as Tiffany. I came with my friends and she was able to do 3 of us in one day! Two of us did microblading and the other one did ombré. Since it was 3 of us, Tiffany used her time wisely so that we weren't stuck there forever waiting. She mapped out the brows one of us, numbed the area, and while one of us was waiting for the numbing cream to kick in, she mapped someone else's brows. I feel like the brow mapping took longer than the actual microblading because Tiffany is such a perfectionist. She really wants to make your brows twins (which is almost naturally impossible lol), but Tiffany makes it possible!!! She played around with the shapes and asked what I preferred, but also made suggestions that compliment my face shape. Tiffany also looked at my friend (with a darker complexion) and straight up told her that microblading would be a waste of her money and that she should do ombré.
