Stansbury Animal Hospital - Day of her shots !

    Stansbury Animal Hospital

"We turn down 15 appointments a day, we don't need your business," is what the receptionist said to…read moreme. I made a mistake with daylight savings "spring forward" time change and called to ask if I could still bring my dog for the scheduled procedure. The receptionist told me with ZERO sympathy that they were keeping the $75 deposit I had given. She was extremely uncaring as she told me this was their policy for no-shows (even though the website says the no-show fee is $50.) I asked her why she was behaving so harshly and unsympathetic, and the quote I opened this review with was the answer she gave, "We turn down 15 appointments a day," which she claimed was the answer of her manager and the "one doctor" at the hospital. I told the receptionist that I had to tell my son's cardiologist the same thing that morning--that I had made a mistake with the daylight savings time change and that they were totally understanding and caring, AND still saw him that day. My experience with Stansbury Animal Hospital is making a down payment of $75 and being rudely told they were keeping that due to a mistake that I am certain many people make on the first business day of "spring forward." I was ready to give an additional down payment so that I could reschedule the services when the receptionist told me they don't care about my business, or that of the friends and family with whom I would share this negative experience. I have had experience with another animal hospitals before coming here. Never ever had an issue like this. I thought I'd just try a new place a little closer to home, but I will be going back to the other animal hospital we used.

Even if it's a little drive for me. The lady who answered the phone was so nice and gave me the options for lessons so I figured I'd go check it out when I wasn't super busy - I was excited. I wanted to take a look so I drove by - the property isn't gated or fenced so easy to go right in. There were lots of horses tied up at a barn and kids brushing them out. So cute to see!!! I parked and figured I'd wander around a few minutes before the lessons started. It's really cool that they had 2 arenas and a barn. There were lots of pens containing horses that are big by barn standards. That's where the good experience ended. I saw so many dirty pens, really skinny horses with hips and ribs poking out, near empty water troughs and one horse looked like it had abscesses or something with puss coming out of it's face. Oh my heck! My heart just broke. Some of the horses the kids were taking care of looked happy, but some were just so sad and skinny I can't imagine them not hurting when they had all that weight on them. When I was looking at options for riding lessons for my daughter I was so excited to find this one, but when I got to the property and looked at their horses I was so upset I just left. It's been so heavy on my heart if I should post a review or not, but I just can't get those horses looking skinny and so sick with hardly any water out of my head.

I picked him up yesterday after being boarded for 3 dyas and there was an extra charge I wasn't aware of - they worked with me to make sure I got only what I signed up for and I really appreciate that since we always use them to board Chancho. We will continue using UDP and really appreciate the extra care the staff takes to make Chancho feel loved when he's out of his home and away from his family.

Level of care has declined for the animals since Covid…read more We left our healthy 3 small dogs for a few days and wrote down (as verbally gave) strict instructions with the check in person that meds and diet restrictions were needed for one of the pups. I emphasized the strictness of feeding ONLY the food I brought, which was frozen fresh food already measured out in ziploc baggies. This pup in particular has severe allergies to everything but lamb and rice. The meds I brought needed to be administered for once a day for two more days. When I picked the pups up on the 4th day, I could tell that my instructions were not followed as my allergy-ridden pup had severely broken out with inflammation, redness, goopiness on his face. He was scratching profusely too. I was so upset but no one was available to discuss this with who could help. Once I got my pups home I took a closer look to examine the same dog and found that he also had broken out badly on his underside including on his little wee wee. I called the UDP back and told them about this additional evidence of showing that he was given food that was not the lamb I brought specifically for him. I couldn't get anyone on the phone to talk to, just through texting. The person responding to me denied feeding anything other than the expensive fresh food I brought for him--should have I expected anything differently? It was simple instructions, I thought. Too bad the workers didn't follow them. These symptoms only appear when he eats non-lamb based foods. I took him to my vet and right away the skin graph showed he had developed a very bad staph infection! The vet asked how did this happen, to which I told him of my suspicions with UDP boarding personnel not following the instructions I gave. I ended up with a $480 invoice from the vet for the exam, tests, and medications including antibiotics! I reached out again to UDP and got nowhere on accepting some responsibility for this. My biggest concern is that someone's pet could experience an even more serious result if the staff continue to function this way with clients. Having a vet clinic onsite doesn't matter if there is no reporting or interaction between the two groups. Honestly, many of the personnel now working in the facility appear to be going through a rehab program of sorts. A bit judgmental on my part but difficulty lies in appearance and demeanor. I know the vet clinic is second location to the one in West Bountiful. We used to go to this vet clinic but changed after we started being nickel and dime'd for unnecessary services, pressured up-sales and some influencing/guilting into more unnecessary treatments. One of our pups passed away while in their care too. We changed to the Clearfield Vet Clinic instead and got better service and pricing. Maybe it's time for the owner(s) to re-examine the operations of these businesses before things get worse. I used to love this place but since before Covid, I watched a steady decline in the quality and don't feel comfortable boarding my pets here anymore. Such a shame.

I've been taking my dog, Goose, to TWP for daycare and boarding for almost three years. When he…read morefirst started at TWP, I was trying out another daycare facility at the same time to see which I was going to continue using. Well Goose got hurt twice within two weeks at the other facility (it was a bit of a free for all with all the "energetic" dogs in one space, which I think is more common than not), so I stuck with TWP. At first Goose was very nervous, and the updates I got didn't sound like my dog at all. He was about a year old and a highly energetic cattle dog mix, so it surprised me he was so anxious. Turns out once he learned the rules, he thrived! Now he's a "teacher" (hilarious). He helps new dogs feel comfortable playing in a new place. He has a blast whenever he goes for daycare, and I trust he is safe when I board him there as well. The staff are great and make sure to give him extra cuddles and pets when he's not playing with his dog friends. The training programs have always been outside my budget, but the socialization Goose has gotten from simply going to daycare 1-2x a week has been a game changer. The structure and staff's careful monitoring helped him learn how to appropriately interact with other dogs. It's a great place. I plan to keep coming here for years to come.

First of all, it is not one size fits all. They had a wonderful trainer, Amelia, who worked with our puppy daily and was incredibly responsive to him. They had daily blocks of social time, training, agility, rest, lunch, and potty time, so he was never worked beyond what his attention span could handle. I loved their approach to the social time. Most dog daycares simply toss all the dogs in a room, which led to many of our first dog's issues, so we love that TWP keeps a close eye on the dogs and actually teaches them how to interact, which is something we couldn't do ourselves! The daily report cards were above and beyond what we expected. We got a summary of his day, photos, and a written explanation of how to work with him at home on his skills, sometimes there were even videos! It isn't cheap, but it was worth every penny, and we have recommended them to all our friends!
