I've never sung in front of another person in my life--ever. Singing has always been something I…read moredid alone, as far from other people as possible. When I scheduled my first session with Lucia, I fully convinced myself we were just going to talk. I didn't feel ready at all. But somehow, even with all the tension, the nerves, the sweating--Lucia made it as easy as it possibly could've been for someone absolutely terrified of singing in front of others. Her energy is something special: warm, honest, relatable. She has an unbelievable gift for communication and connection. If you're even on the fence about taking voice lessons, I genuinely don't think there are many people on this earth who can make you feel more comfortable, more seen, and more encouraged than Lucia can. Not only that--she's an incredibly talented musician herself. Her singing voice is gorgeous, and her musicality makes it easy to trust her instincts and take her seriously. We've only had one session so far, but she's already given me tools and insight that feel like magic. I can't wait to get back in the studio and put it into practice--and I really can't wait to keep learning from her. It's also clear that this is her life's passion. Lucia isn't in it for the money--she does this because she loves it, and it shows in every minute of her work. That said, she's a top-tier talent and absolutely worth investing in. If you're in a momentary bind or facing financial restraints, she'll likely be understanding and willing to work with you--she's that kind of person. But as someone who runs a service business myself, I'll say this: people do their best work when they feel truly valued. And in this world, the most direct way to show that value is by paying them what they're worth. Lucia could charge double and still have a packed client list--she's that good. My advice? Don't haggle. Just book the lesson. You won't regret it.

Breakthrough Moments From the Very First Lessons…read more I can't recommend Danielle LoPresti enough as a singing teacher. She is amazing--supportive, patient, and incredibly kind. Almost immediately after I started taking lessons with her, she helped me break through obstacles that I had struggled with my whole life. What I appreciate most is her holistic approach to singing. For me, it's about expression, not perfection, and Danielle truly understands that. She creates a safe environment where I never feel judged or rushed, which makes it much easier to explore my voice and grow with confidence. Another thing that makes her classes special is the community she has built among her students. She organizes opportunities for us to meet and perform, which is incredibly valuable. Watching and learning from others is inspiring, and it also reminds us that many of us share the same challenges--stage fright, nervousness, and sometimes the pressure of perfectionism. If you're looking for a supportive teacher who truly helps you grow as a singer and as a performer, Danielle is fantastic.

I seldom give 5 star reviews but she goes well above and beyond what I expected, and beyond what I actually experienced with another well-regarded singing teacher. Danielle can teach you all of the right techniques, of course, and she can lead you through breath exercises, lip trills, practicing songs, and all the rest, while giving you kind, helpful feedback and tips along the way. And even though you can get a lot of that these days on YouTube, naturally it's extra helpful with a real person. But where she *really* shines for me is in her emotional support and insight (after all vocalization and performance are very emotional things for most people!), and her ability and eagerness to tailor her approach to each student. And you *can't* get that on YouTube, that's for sure! She is wonderfully accommodating, kind, considerate, genuine, supportive, and helpful, and I don't think I'd be making the progress I have been with any other teacher. She also works hard to help interested students build up to and practice public performance by creating safe peer spaces to get behind the mic in front of a group of strangers, perhaps for the first time. There is community building here too, and even public performance as a part of the journey, for students who want to do that. But it's nice that you don't have to have professional ambitions to really benefit from working with her. If you're already a professional and just want refinement and support to become or maintain your best, she's definitely a great person to give you that with her decades of professional performance herself. But I most especially recommend her for people who are less confident and need that extra support to really come into their own with their singing. She's the best partner you could have on that journey! And it feels so good to get more comfortable with using your voice to its fullest as one of the most powerful ways we all have to express ourselves.

Her technical explanations and the visual imagery she provides during warm-ups have been revelatory as well. After an exhaustive search for a great studio to create my first full length, I came across producer/engineer Joey Muller and Ice House, and it was probably the easiest and best decision I made. We spent several months making a great sounding record ... and despite the great studio, everyone knows it's really the person behind the gear that all makes it come together. Anyway, the highlights of the experience really need a bullet point list: - The live room sounds incredible. Drums and guitar were flat out amazing. - The gear at the studio is great - a very quiet chain using great preamps, converters, and other outboard gear. - Joey was extremely passionate and into the project, very responsible, and easy to work with. - Joey's musical talents and ear are amazing. Besides being a great piano player, his ear for pitch, melody, and song structure is very finely tuned. - The resources near the studio are expansive; there is a large music store within walking distance, as well as great healthy places to eat. - The network of professional musicians to help out on projects is huge; Joey knows many of the top musicians in the Bay Area, and they all love coming in and working at Ice House. Needless to say, if you want to make a great recording, this is the place to go. And it's actually quite reasonably priced as well. What more could you ask for?

Highly, HIGHLY recommended.
